It’s been awhile, so I thought I would talk products and routine today. I use the term “beauty” loosely.

The final product – a tired 50 year old woman:

One of my goals this year is to use up what I have before buying new stuff. Tom rejected the Costco shampoo and conditioner below and I don’t love it, either. But, I will try to use it and be happy.

I love this Dr. Teal’s Relax and Relief and it works well for my evening shower routine. I take my shower after dinner and wash my hair every other night. When I don’t wash my hair, I still take a “body” shower because I just like to get in my sheets “clean”. I also take a quick morning body shower every day because again “clean”. I also just find it easier to do my saline and face washing in the shower. But, I am super, super quick. Why am I using so many quotation marks?

Love, love, love both of these products! I swear by this saline spray and use it twice a day.

I am “saving” my self tanner now because I can be January pale right now. I use and love Lubriderm. It really helps with winter dry skin.

I really like these eye drops and they do make the whites of your eyes whiter. I remember when my twins were little and one of them was asked what their eye color was; he said, “white”. Bahahaha!

So, The Ordinary products are very reasonably priced, but the facial wash and the moisturizer didn’t last very long at all. I do love both of these serums, though and they will last forever. I am really new to serums. Any serum people in the house?

On the non wash the night before hair days, I use this and love it.

I use a 1.5 inch barrel regular old curling iron. I never dry my hair since I wash at night.

I curl and then use this comb and this hairspray. Sometimes if my hair is too clean, I use the Dove to help hold my style.

I clip the top hair up and curl the bottom and then do the top.

This looks really messy and I need to clean it up, but I am still loving my Seint makeup system.

You use their brush and blend all of this together!

I am loving these lip crayons lately.

I really love this blush and will apply it on top of the Seint sometimes.

It has a nice subtle shimmer.

Remember how much I love cream eye shadow and specifically Charlotte Tilbury? Well, I found that Burt’s Bees is pretty darn good and much cheaper and can be found at your local drug store. So, I do that on the lid and then line with one of the powder shadows in this set.

I love this NYX brow and I’m using Grande mascara right now but I am getting ready to try Thrive Causemetics mascara.

You can see my eyes here:

This is what I use for undereye somedays but somedays I don’t do anything. Suggestions welcome!

I’m really content with most of my products for the first time in forever! But, I always love to learn about new things, too.

What is your ride or die product? Like, if you run out you might have a panic attack product? Are you a product junkie? I wouldn’t say that I really am. I find it overwhelming to walk in Ulta and Sephora. I don’t know where to look or what to do.

Talk beauty to me in the comments!

Amy

  1. I love CeraVe or Cetaphil face wash, hate spending a lot on something that washes off. I’m still loving my Ordinary products. Would like to try Seint but I’m afraid – ha!! Wish I could try it first and there are a few people on IG who sell it – boy I’d hate to have to choose who to buy from. These are the things I worry about it – ha!
I’m trying to use up what I have first too although I did buy an inexpensive eyeshadow palette from Wet n Wild a few weeks ago that I really love.
My only ride or die is my mascara from Prime Causemetics. It is the only one that doesn’t flake off of for me.
    Great post Amy!

    1. Such good products! I do, too. I think Seint might have a guarantee. You would get color matched by one of them and then it is imperative to get a brush or you do not get the full experience. I do really like NYX products and they are pretty cheap. I cannot wait to try my Thrive mascara. Thank you!

  2. I’m definitely not a product junkie. I feel lost in places like ulta and Sephora 🤣 I can’t live without dry shampoo. I’ve was an every other day hair washer for years but…the past few years I can wash it every third day. I swear this happened during Covid. Maybe spring 2020 and not going anywhere trained my hair somehow? 🤣 I think I pay more attention about what I buy for my skincare routine vs my beauty. I pretty much use makeup (L’Oréal, maybelline, etc) that you can get at Kroger or Walgreens when you run out. Hadley knows more about makeup than I do 😅

    1. Same! I wish I had a Hadley! I have learned to appreciate the better products because I do think I am more satisfied and they last longer. I used to throw so many Target, Walgreens, Kroger stuff in my cart. There is nothing wrong with that, but I was definitely spending more that way. I think my hair does better in the winter, too. I like to wash it frequently because I get that hair headache, you know? I wish I had done more with skincare!

  3. I wouldn’t say I’m a product junkie but do love trying new products and have lots of them, so maybe I am? Those Ordinary serums are so good and I love CeraVe cleanser! I need a new dry shampoo and will check that one out!

  5. Girrrrrrrllllllllll…..I could talk about this stuff for DAYS! I’m such a product junkie, it’s awful. Ulta is my motherland.

I did finally try the CT eyeshadows. I’m a fan! Wearing Champagne today.

And where’s your sunscreen, young lady? *wags finger*

  6. No product junkie here. I did recently fall for an infomercial and purchased the Perbelle CC cream. I don’t think it works as well as the infomercial showed it. I’m doubtful that I’ll buy it again. I am always interested in what other people use and sometimes will give it a try. I’m like some of the other ladies here, I use what I can pick up at the local drug store or Walmart. As I have aged, I use less products on my face. Thanks for your daily posts.

    1. Try not to be either! I have not heard of that cc cream but I know people love cc cream. I am always interested, too, but I am frugal and really want to love something if I drop a lot of money. And, a lot of money for me would be like $20-30!
      Thanks for commenting, Ruth!

  7. I love the Thrive mascara and I just ordered some of their shadow and eye brightening pencils. Their mascara comes off so easily with just water. No more scrubbing or eye make-up remover. I feel like my lashes have even grown.

  8. I love seeing your routine. I am a pressed powder/bronzer, eyeliner, mascara girl and that’s it. I just cleaned out our bathroom and I am making the same goal as you. I need to use up what I have before I buy something else. No more hand lotions for me!!

    1. I am not an expert by any means. I wish I could go natural, but no. You are doing so well. You are crushing the decluttering more than I am. I go in spurts. I haven’t had much energy lately.

  9. total product junkie here! when i see people detailing the products they use i just have to try things! i am currently loving pixi endless shade stick. i use a matte cognac on my lids with matte cocoa in the crease. i blend that with a big fluffy it brush. i like these because there is no shimmer to these colors which matters to my 71 year old lids. i use a revant gel eyeliner that is great for older eyes as it glides on really easily. alot of good information in this post as usual! i hope you will report back on the thrive causemetics mascara as i have been interested in that

    1. I love that, Rita! It is a fun hobby! I have been really curious about Pixi. I have also been curious about those caviar sticks and just stick makeup for eyes in general. I need a post from you!

  10. My name is Tin-Tin and I’m a beauty junkie :-D. I love to try new skin products and my mornings are a little chemistry lab to be truthful :-D. The Ordinary has great products and my newest find is a niacinamid powder that you blend with any serum (chemistry lab!). Niacinamid is a really good ingredient that I can really recommend for more even looking skin and smaller pores. Beats both retinol and c-vitamin if you ask me!
Eye cream is a must for me (I’ve been using it since I was a teenager) and I love my x-lash for longer lashes (works!) for makeup I have to have concealer under my eyes and around my nose – I could not go out without concealer!
