I don’t think this is what any of us thought we would be doing today. Even if you are still going to work each day I’m sure that looks different. Also, I hope my title isn’t misleading – awkward clearing of throat – I had ideas for your kids yesterday so this is a follow up!

As of right now, I am not really required to do any work from home. I am still trying to maintain my classes by posting on Google Classroom at least once a day and I am trying to be productive and keep a schedule. My boys are doing school work and spending time together but don’t require much of me. My husband is still going to his office for now. So, I have a lot of time on my hands like many of you.

Some of these may seem very little or silly, but having a list helps me. I hope you find something here today, too, and please share your ideas below. Isn’t it so crazy that as humans when we are busy we can think of so many things we would rather be doing at home but when we have to stay home we are only thinking of what we could be doing outside of the home?

-Get dressed in the morning. This helps me to be more productive.

-Exercise every day in some way shape or form. I have been walking alone and with my dog. My dog has never been happier. Don’t let the photo below fool you. He is happy!

-Make yourself a drink and light a candle. This is something little but it might lift your spirits.

-Call that friend that you always say you need to call. I love hearing people’s voices (not the voices in my head) instead of just texting. I am making of list of people to call. Get ready; it’s not a telemarketer!

-Start a blog! I use WordPress. You can start a free blog if you don’t want to pay for a more upgraded website.

-I feel better helping others. I am trying to text someone each day to see if they are o.k. or if they need a roll of toilet paper.

-Take photographs of cool things around your area. This photo below looks like something in Ireland (well maybe not quite like Ireland!). It’s actually behind my school as I was walking my dog on Monday. Maybe get out the big camera!

See if someone else needs their dog walked. Maybe someone who is trying to work from home needs help with this? They can stand 6 feet away from you while handing you the leash?

Make a recipe you have never made before. Below is egg in a hole.

-Do your own nails at home.

-Go through all of your cookbooks or old recipes and see what you can make with what you have on hand. Maybe you can even do a cooking challenge with a basket of ingredients?

-This would be a great time to go makeup free. See what happens to your skin if you let it breathe?

-This would be a great time to do the baby foot peel. Your feet peel like crazy and since you are staying home, why not? You will end up with baby feet. I did it a couple of years ago and it was gross but wonderful.

-This would also be a great time to go deoderant free or to switch to natural deoderant?

-Do the 40 bags in 40 days challenge or change to 15 bags in 15 days – list 15 areas of the house to declutter.

-Play a card game with your husband with candlelight.

-Have an indoor picnic or carpet picnic with your husband.

-Have an outdoor picnic with you family or significant other. Maybe go to an empty park picnic table.

-Go on a drive with your family or significant other. Extra points if you create a special playlist.

-Make up an adult scavenger hunt for the drive or for the house. My husband can never find his keys, wallet, socks – this would turn it into a game!

-Practice your instrument. I used to play piano and now would be the perfect time.

-Try out a new hairstyle using a You Tube tutorial.

-Get all of your spring cleaning done.

-Take advantage of the free virtual art museum tours. Chicago Art Institute and Le Louvre have them as well as many others, I’m sure.

-Watch a slide show/video/make one of a past trip.

-Watch old home movies with your kids.

-Do Minute to Win It challenges with your family or just spouse.

Please know that I am not taking our current situation lightly. If our worst problem is being stuck at home in 2020 with all of the modern conveniences and plenty to eat we should consider ourselves lucky and blessed.

  1. Yes, very Irish! 😀 You even have the shamrocks! But no leprechaun…?
Your dog is beautiful! I want a dog!
Now the UK has closed their schools too… We’re only three countries left in Europe with schools still running!

    1. Thank you! Ernie is so sweet. He literally will do whatever we do. He will sleep late or get up early. He is such a joy. He is our second chocolate Labrador. We had Archie for 12 years when we first got married. You should get a dog but I don’t know what you would do about Florida. Could you bring the dog?
      You Swedes are tough!

  2. This is a great post Amy! I told my son last night that we’ll be playing lots of cards this weekend because there’s only so much tv a person needs! Your ideas are all so great and you are right – we can all come up with so many things we’d like to do if we had the time and now we have it!

    1. Thank you! Cards can be so fun! You can probably swim in your pool now it’s so hot, right? We will get through this. You are probably ready for the weekend! Take care!

    1. Thank you Jenny! How can I help you? Anything you want me to write about? I feel so helpless and I don’t want people to find my blog insensitive. I am working on a post with ideas for teens and collaborating with a sweet student! Your words were needed today!
      Thank you!

  3. Some great ideas! Today was rough. My husband is holed up in his home office working all day and I’m trying to find things to do! Started a puzzle! Tomorrow evening I think we will drive somewhere and get dinner just to get out for a while.

    1. I’m sorry! Things will be better today I bet. Yes, just getting out and getting a drive thru coffee at a local place is helpful. I’m creating a list each night for the next day. Take that drive tonight and put on some good music. I’m hoping to have a fire on patio this weekend and if it’s warm enough I want to take a bike ride.

  4. Yes! Please post any recipes you have. Sometimes my husband likes my creations and other times not so much 😂. We are trying to stay positive. Getting outside and walking the dog is good for the soul.
