Well…that went by fast! I wish we didn’t have a weird week next week of only two school days; often this means we have poor attendance. I heard that one school in our area only goes on Monday? What? What about you? Do you have the entire week off? I am linking up with the girls here for Friday Favorites.
Well, the burgundy gel nails are still going strong. Y’all I am so happy! It appears this is not damaging my nails like would happen in the salon. The remover I bought is the magic ticket. The gel peels right off with little effort. I know this is vain, but I do like my nails to look nice. I do not want to visit the salon or pay the price. This gives me a little arts and crafts project that is just my speed!

The remover:

I do need to give credit to Niki at The House on Silverado for recommending it!
Even though it’s been cold this week, I try to bundle up to get a little fresh air. A Woodwick candle would make a great gift. They make a nice little crackle as they burn.

I love roasted spaghetti squash so muich! Microwave your squash for like 5 minutes after poking a few holes. Let it cool a bit and then slice in half, remove the seeds, drizzle with olive oil and add salt, pepper, garlic powder then roast face down for a long time – like 45 minutes to an hour. It’s worth it. When it’s done, it should “string” very easily with a fork.
Tom had angel hair and I had this with my spaghetti sauce on top. I also made us a side of zucchini and I had some mushrooms and onions that I had made. This meal was so satisfying, and I also tried to use 30 g. worth of Laura’s Lean ground beef.

Erica made us French onion chicken, sweet potatoes, and broccoli one day this week. It was delicious!

One night I made tacos for Tom and taco salad for me:

Ernie watching me work:

My friends are so sweet. One gave me this beautiful looking and smelling candle that I have been enjoying. She also gave me a Kitsch silk pillow case! I love it! A good one really makes a difference. The Amazon one I had was subpar and I stopped using it after a month or so. This one is great! That would be another great gift idea for the female in your life that doesn’t want wrinkles on their face or tangled hair.

And, another friend gave me this cool bourbon bottle candle. It smells amazing, too! She also gave me the coolest faux leather and velvet headband.

I found this coffee medley at Costco last week and I am loving these flavors. What a great way to try new ones. Mason is excited to enjoy these with me soon.

I am ready – anyone seen Winter Mint in the stores yet? This is your sub for a Girl Scout Thin Mint cookie. Ok, you’re right – there is no substitute!

Dare I say it, but this might be better than La Croix – at least in this flavor. Wow! This is great!

We got more snow Wednesday night! I almost didn’t notice it. I was headed to bed and was shocked!

I had a round table discussion in Spanish with 3 of my classes Thursday where we talked about favorite Thanksgiving foods, traditions, their plans for break, etc. It was so fun!

Then, the teachers were treated to a Thanksgiving catered meal by our alumni and a few other organizations. It was really good!

What were your favorites this week?
Amy
I need to search your blog for the gel nail system you are using and try it. You got some very sweet gifts for your birthday. Since you love bourbon, you should try Leslie’s Bourbon and Maple Syrup Chili – it is so good. I made it this week. https://onceuponatimehappilyeverafter.com/where-bloggers-live-11-2022-my-favorite-recipes/
I may make it again this weekend but double the batch!
I love the snow you are having, it is actually chilly here to day and that makes me soooo happy!
xo,

The strange week next week always used to bother me as well. We did it that same way here. I know other schools who take a shorter fall break to take off the whole week of Thanksgiving. I don’t know which I’d prefer, honestly…
I think my favorite things from this week include the few minutes I had on the square with my friend last night (we had to cut it short because her sister in law was rushed to the hospital with a ruptured brain aneurism) and the hour and a half I spent at choir practice at church Wednesday night. Oh! And lunch after Bible study on Wednesday with my writing team friends. We always have the best time together and we share great laughter. We’ve all been so busy that we rarely see each other outside of church.
I hope you have a great day today and that your weekend is fun! I hope mine is too. 🤣

I agree – not sure which I would prefer.
That would have been so fun. I am praying for her sis-in-law. Will you update us?
It sounds like you had a nice week that filled your cup!
I hope you have a great weekend, too!

Alec goes to school Monday, Tuesday and a 1/2 day on Wednesday–as far as I know that is all the local school’s schedules. We tried those lasagna/ wonton cups last night and they were a huge hit!

I can’t believe they have a half day on Wed. That is hard for the teachers who need to cook. I am so glad you all liked those! I am making them again, soon. I think the traditional lasagna is better than my spinach and artichoke version.

Thanks for reminding me about the chocolate mint premier drink, I need to keep my eye open for it. It came and went quickly last year! Your nails look really nice, I’m not sure I have the patience to do it and am not very coordinated! My favorite thing this week is the Starbucks gingerbread kcups I found. I don’t usually buy Starbucks but they were on sale and reminded me of the old gingerbread latte. I just used some vanilla flavored half and half and a little whipped cream, it’s yummy. I might try the cream in my frother , but I think it works better with lower fat milk. Also I ordered the amazon vest, it’s supposed to come later today. Have a great weekend!

I know – I had totally forgotten about it. My best bet is probably Target. Thank you – I think you could do it with some practice. I am now on day 6 of this mani and I think I will change the color today or tomorrow. It still looks good with no chips. I love gingerbread flavor. That sounds good! I agree – the froth works really well with Premier protein by the way. I put some sugar cookie syrup and some cake batter Premier and frothed it up because I was out of half and half. I hope you like the vest!

So, thanksgiving is coming up! I think I told you that we haven’t adopted Thanksgiving, only Black Friday! Ha ha!
I love your nails! They look really professional! I need to do mine right now!
How fun with the discussions in Spanish class! How did you organize it?
So, my favorite this week is a new cozy pyjamas… And that’s what I intend to wear most of the weekend! 😀

Yes, we are less than a week away! I hate Black Friday but I do start shopping on Cyber Monday! Thank you – I am enjoying this gel at home. You do have to buy the supplies but then with only 30-45 minutes of your time you have a salon manicure!
We have these discussions every couple of weeks. I give them questions but they can’t have any written responses. They have to respond a certain number of times and cannot use any English. We have a certain topic and go from there. It’s really fun!
Nice! It is so cold here and that sounds cozy!

The snow on Wednesday surprised me too! Then I saw more flakes yesterday. I just recently got a kuerig and have been trying new flavors. Your school thanksgiving lunch looks yummy. That’s the one cafeteria meal I eat every year 😂…it’s not from our alumni. Haha Yesterday , the PTSA did cater soup and sandwiches which was nice

Crazy for us this early! Oh – do you like the Keurig so far? It is the best tasting coffee I have ever had at home. Get fat free half and half and some skinny syrup, froth it in the bottom of your mug, then place it under the keurig. It works! There are some great K cup options on Amazon. I don’t think you go to Costco but I like their options. I have never tried what the kids get from the cafeteria. Can you believe that? It’s really far from my room and we only have 20 min. My school doesn’t even encourage teachers to eat there. I think they should. It would be nice. That is so nice of your PTSA.

That is really hard to just have one or two days of school before the break. Many years ago our district starting taking the whole week off. It’s so nice. Now Jack’s college takes the whole week, while Grace’s goes on Monday and Tuesday. It would be nice if they would coordinate..ha, ha! Have a good weekend!

Yes! We have very bad attendance, too. I wish Grace had the whole week off, too. You too! Enjoy those kids!
