Happy Friday to you! It’s time to link up with Andrea and Erica!
Here are some things that I would call favorites this week…
I received In Style and Real Simple in the mail and I am saving them for this weekend. A fresh magazine to get me pumped for the next month is still a favorite.

My most recent home glitter mani with OPI Strawberry Margarita (two coats) and OPI Cheers to the New Year (two coats) with an Orly top coat is another favorite.

Erica has used Thrive Causemetics mascara and she asked if I wanted to order one, too, to save money on shipping. It is amazing! I really like it! Now I am curious about their other products.

Tuesday was really nice and we walked after school. Our new track is really cushioney and it was nice to debrief our day while getting some exercise.

Tom liked my Spanish cauliflower rice! I added some tomato paste, garlic, lime juice, and cilantro to the frozen rice and then made burrito bowls one night for dinner.

Erica made the stuffed acorn squash again!

I made Shay’s margarita soup one night and Tom had a grilled cheese with his. You all need to make this! I only put in a tiny bit of Sprite because I didn’t have diet and didn’t want too much sugar. The creamed corn and the lime juice make this a little different than your average tortilla soup. Also, I cooked my chicken in the crockpot with chicken broth to create a rotisserie chicken and it was amazing. Oh, I also added chicken broth to the soup. I can never leave a recipe alone! Erica and I had it for lunch the next day, too, and it is very low in WW points.

Mason sent me this one day and it warmed my heart! I really try not to “bug” them or text them too much. It is special when they text me first!

Did you read my Spring Trends post? Y’all, I could not help it! Crochet is one of the trends I said I wanted to try. This is on its way to me! It is Target, so not too expensive, but pretty expensive for Target. And, it is a juniors brand so I ordered it in the biggest size possible.

I will let you know what I think and if I decide to keep it. I know it’s controversial and looks like grandma’s throw. But, I dress for me!
I am working on a small Valentine’s bag for Jack and Mason.

I found these at Dollar Tree – bandaids and handwarmers for walking to class.

They love sour candy.

I will add some more things once I get out to a store.
I also am thinking of ways to show love this month. I made this little spread for Tom when he got home from work. He loves this candy and I picked it up.

Yesterday we had a virtual day. I actually like having one every now and then. It is really nice not to get out in the winter and not to have to make the day up at the end of the year.

I enjoyed my Valentine’s mantel while teaching from home.

We were at home because of an impending ice storm so I ran into the wine shop and picked up Chalkboard wine for after school – not during!

Ha!
I need show and movie recommendations!
I recommend Younger, Promised Land, and The Woman in the House across the Street from the Girls in the Window. All three of those helped entertain me last week! I am still watching Younger and anxiously awaiting a new episode of Promised Land.
What were your favorites this week? I hope you had many!
Amy
That text from Mason is the sweetest – isn’t it so awesome when our kids do things like that? Dang, just the simple, little things mean the world. Your mantel looks so cozy and sweet. A virtual day rather than a snow day is a great idea – who wants to add days to the end of the year when all you wanna do is have summer?
I just started watching (on your rec) The Woman in the House Across the Street… so far so good! Wish I had some shows to tell you about.
xo,
Kellyann

It really made my day. I don’t think I would ever get one like that from Jack. He is more serious and business like. I love using virtual days to do school. Apparently that show is a spoof. I didn’t realize it when I watched. I really like Kristen Bell.

I do think virtual days are better than snow days but our school refuses to do any virtual anything this year (other than for kids who are out in quarantine). I get it but I am dreading them going into late June already when it’s only the start of our snowiest time of year. I am going to have to check out that soup recipe! We have been trying a few new soup recipes lately and they are so good (so nice and filing too!).

I think we just have to embrace them. I taught new content and it works! They can still learn this way. I think school should start after Labor Day and end at Memorial Day. The end date should not be up in the air because people need to plan!
I think you’d like the soup! Warning – the Rotel makes it pretty spicy so you could do half a can or extra diced regular tomatoes if your family likes it more mild.

I love reading a magazine. I let them stack up and then read when I can. Your meals and lunches look so good! Love the text. So sweet. Hayden spent the night at a friends house last night and I texted him goodnight & he replied with “love you.” It melted my heart. I hope you have a great cozy weekend…& enjoy that wine!

Yes! With a cup of coffee or a cocktail! Even better when I can read them outside.
Thank you!
Texting opened up a new world for us and was really sweet. Can you believe we held out til 10th grade with their own phones? Life is different now, though.
Same to you!

Yes! I love to save magazines to read at the pool. Soon enough!
I agree. Both of my kids are still pretty affectionate with me 🙌🏻but I’m also thankful for the little texts like when they get to school, etc. i know. I wasn’t happy about the phone situation but they’ve come in handy and allowed me to give them independence. We have lots of rules …which can be exhausting but necessary. Hayden doesn’t care much for the phone…social butterfly hadley hates to miss a text 🤣

Oh, that sounds so nice right about now!
I bet that was hard to give the same rules to two very different kids. Yeah, mine weren’t in a big hurry for the responsibility. Plus, they were in my school! Mason is still pretty affectionate with me. Jack is more stoic. I miss the younger years but I also love the people they are now.

Wow, what a week! Aren’t we glad it’s February!
I love magazines, how nice to have some for the weekend! We’re actually staying in the city this weekend, it’s too cold and grey at the cabin…
Enjoy your weekend!

Thank you Talia and welcome! My blog is quite amateur, but I do have a search bar. You can search Eating Lately posts. I am not great about recipes, but rather give ideas about what I eat.
