Are you an iced coffee person? Year round, I still want my two cups of hot coffee first thing in the morning. It actually only ends up being about 1.5 cups of hot coffee since I don’t drink the full cup of either.

Mid-morning when the weather gets a bit warmer, I love an iced coffee. It helps stave off hunger until lunch time and it just tastes delicious.

I don’t have the ability or desire to go buy one but I think if you try this method you will agree that it is just as good and maybe even better. Plus, you save lots of money and calories.

Yum! Look at that beautiful color!

I love it in a mason jar with a straw but I also love it in a plastic tumbler with lid and straw.

You need: a half of a Premier protein vanilla (Some people like the caramel flavor, but I prefer the vanilla. I do not like their coffee flavor, by the way.)

ice

instant coffee

water

Warning: I did not like it with two sticks of instant coffee. So, my directions are to simply empty one stick into your cup and about half of the amount of water shown. I probably use about 2 tablespoons. Either stir or use a little frother combine water and coffee. If you have the Mason jar lid, you could also shake it vigorously.

Add ice, pour in half of the protein shake, and you are done!

The protein shakes are about $8 for a 4 pack in my grocery store. Since I only use half at a time, this makes a very inexpensive coffee drink. Also, I bought the instant sticks on Amazon but you can also just use a container of instant granules.

Let me know if you try this or have other ideas!

  1. I can’t wait to try this. I started back to iced coffee last week and have always used the Pioneer Women’s recipe making a half gallon in a big mason jar. I’ve always wanted to try the protein shakes and this looks delicious!

    1. I hope you like it! Her coffees look so good! You could totally use that I think. Her recipes are very caloric with evaporated milk I believe so this would be a good option if you are watching that.

  2. I am totally trying this. I’ve seen those coffee sticks at the Dollar Tree here in Texas. Did you use a frother or simply shake yours? It looks so yummy and pretty – thanks for sharing.

    1. I hope you like it! Oh, The Dollar Tree! I love that place but hadn’t thought to look for these there. I need to get lots of greeting cards so I will check. I used a frother in the first picture. It is just a battery powered one from Amazon several years ago. I liiked using the frother and it added something I think!

  3. I’ll be trying this sometime today! I have seen so many people posting about mixing the protein drink with their coffee, but I never tried. I am also not a fan of the coffee flavor…only if I am blending it up and mixing it with some extra stuff 🙂

  4. Since buying my Nespresso…I use the espresso pods and a full container of the premier protein. Proffee is what I call it! LOL Its been so long since I bought a doppio (double espresso) at Starbucks because of my Nespresso machine. For me, a full premier protein and espresso is 2 points. and it keeps me full well past lunch. Have a great Tuesday!

  5. I love ice coffee! I’ve loved it since my first visit to Greece, where they serve it as a frappé. But Greeks put tons of sugar in, and I want mine without sugar. I actually drink one every morning! Just plain, instant coffee, a pinch of cocoa, water and milk. And a straw! (I miss the plastic ones!) But I like the look of yours, I will try and find some kind of vanilla milk/protein something…

    1. I have also made them with my wonderful creamer and milk! But, this protein shake is less calories and more protein which I need. My Greek friend taught me to make Greek iced coffee with sweetened condensed milk. It is decadent!
