Happy Friday! Finally, in my 6th week of work and my 4th week of virtual teaching I feel that I have found a groove. Go back and read my post from yesterday if you took Thursday off. I did a post about my tips for working from home. Maybe some of it applies to work/home life balance in general, too. Thank you for all the kind responses!

I am linking up today with Andrea, etc. so go here for more of my favorite day of the week posts about all the things that made us happy this week! Life is still hard and we need all the positive we can get right now.

Here are my faves of the week!

So, I have not done anything else with my bedroom decor since I showed it to you several months ago but this little spider plant from Trader Joes is doing really well. I also love the little table I picked up at TJ Maxx in March. I water it every four days or so and give it sunlight by opening the blinds most days. I may need to give her a bigger pot?

She makes me so happy! I have heard plants like names and to be talked to and they also like music. My plants in the mudroom seem to like the noise of the washer and dryer – ha!

Ernie knows when it is 11:00 a.m. now. His Daddy walks him at 6:15 and then his Mommy walks him at 11. We walk to my school and it is bittersweet because a school is not a school without the students. The weather has been so pretty this week. I wish I could bottle up this weather for all of you. Kentucky in September can be so glorious. Sunny, blue skies, and 70-80 degree highs with lots of breeze.

Lisa from Coast to Coast and a few others mentioned these bars so I picked up the apple flavor for September. They are a perfect mid morning snack. Thanks to all who suggested!

And, I picked these up from Target. They are hard cookies but really have a good light pumpkin flavor.

These plates just make me so happy. I bought this set several years ago from Target. I have four with leaves and four with pumpkins.

I put this creepy nightlight in the hall bathroom for my nightly trip. Tom thinks it is weird. But, I like it! Here is a great hack. I always get anxious that I left something plugged in. Take a photo of your plug before leaving the house. Anxious no mo’! You could do the same with a photo of your oven.

Is jam your jam? I couldn’t help myself. This is around $3 and change and really good – dare I say better than a home cook’s jam? Notice it is “intense”. You can handle it.

Like many people I started watching The Home Edit. I like it but I also don’t know what I think about emptying food stuffs into containers. Anyone else? They have to spend a fortune in containers, too. People just have too much crap.

Tuesday afternoon brought a patio drink and snack with my old teaching bestie. We taught next door for 17 years until she moved on to greener pastures closer to her home. She is great about asking me to get together. She had a peach bourbon drink and I had an orange margarita that was delish.

Look at that morning temp!

During one of our walks this week I was admiring the leaves in the yard of a neighbor. It is starting to look a lot like fall.

Lisa from Coast to Coast and Kellyann from This Blonde’s Shopping Bag I believe have both recommended these wireless earbuds. For $16 I think they are pretty great. I have never had the real deal, but I am enjoying these. Thanks, gals!

If you have ever wanted airpods but didn’t want to pay that much, I think you might like these.

What were your favorites this week?

Happy Friday and happy weekend and as always, thank you for reading. You are my favorites every day of the week!

  1. I am so jealous of your weather, my gosh we need to move! It is so hot here and will continue to be for a few more months. Womp, womp, womp. I love that you got together with your former work friend – I really don’t keep in touch with the people from my former school at all, kinda weird that you work with people for years and then that’s it!
Glad you like the ear buds!
Hope you have a great weekend!

    1. I know – I’m sorry. I hate humidity more than anything so I don’t know how you do it, but you have great winters! It’s a trade off I guess. And, you have always lived in Florida born and raised, right? I really try to keep up with friends but there are seasons in life where that is easier than others. Happy weekend to you!

  2. And you are our favorite! 😀
Cute that your plant is a “she”!
Those earbuds were really cheap! Are they any good? Believe it or not; amazon is coming to Sweden! Crazy! Up until now it was possible to order from the uk, but the shipping was quite expensive.
    Happy weekend!

    1. You are sweet! Yes, I think my plants are female! The earbuds have been great for my purposes – to listen to podcasts mainly while I walk.
Yay for Amazon in Sweden! Watch your pocket book!

  3. I have those Target plates too. I’ve brought them back to the rotation for dinner 🙂 and I loved the home edit. I use the clear containers for a few things for my kids like cereal bars, granola bars, fruit snacks etc. Less boxes in the cabinet and they can see what options they have. But yes, I said the same about how expensive it would be to do that for an entire closet. My issue with my closet is it’s so small and I refuse to rotate clothes for seasons 😂I had to do that in our first house and hated it

    1. Don’t you love them! I bought Christmas and spring ones, too, but the fall are my favorites. I can see the clear containers for snack items and for kid things but not for everything! Individually wrapped things make the most sense to me. My pantry is tiny and I want the door shut! I kind of like to have my off season clothes out of sight because then they seem new again! That is silly, though, because so many things work year round now!

      1. I have Christmas ones too 🙂 and yes—that’s some of my problem with the clothes is there are things I wear year round. I almost always have a sweatshirt on in the house..even in the winter 😂

      2. I like the weird shape of the plates, too! That is true. Maybe just change the order of the clothes where the current season is easier to reach? We just have too much stuff, too. I’m convinced that makes life harder!

  4. Those nachos you and your friend had look so good!! I love the table you got for your plant. I remember when I was around 11 my aunt talking to her plants and I thought she was totally nuts lol! Bonne Maman make such good jams. They’re one of my favourite brands. I wish I could get my hands on those pumpkin cream sandwich biscuits. I live in Ireland and all the pumpkin flavoured things during autumn just isn’t a thing here. It’s only in the last few years I started to see Starbucks doing the pumpkin spiced latte thing here. It’s funny how cultures can be so similar and different at the same time.

    1. Thank you! I thought you were either British or Canadian from your spelling! I love that! Yes, that is such a good brand of jam. It is sold in our gourmet groceries, too, so you know it’s good but not that expensive. We are obsessed with our pumpkin everything! It is a bit out of hand. I hope you get more pumpkin over there, though!

  5. I use my AirPods for every single thing imaginable…phone calls, video appointments, podcasts, workouts…it’s INSANE how much use I’ve gotten out of them. Probably the best $130 I’ve spent. Truly. And I just wear one at a time!

Yeah, there’s no way I’m buying clear containers for everything. I have baskets for things but nope: they stay in the boxes and bags.

    1. I can see that. I have not had much luck using them to talk on the phone. I don’t love the ear shape of the apple ones so this ear shape is better for me. Only one at a time is a good idea!
I agree – I just don’t get emptying everything into clear containers. And, I like my tiny pantry door shut so who really cares?

  6. I mentioned in my pantry organization post that while I like the look of dumping food out into matching containers I just do not get how that would ever work.. do you wait until you’ve used every last drop of flour before refilling it? Otherwise the stuff at the bottom would never get used (right?) but then where do you store the refill bag in the meantime? Seems like that would be a lot of extra cleaning in between uses too as I’m not going to NOT wash out the jar I’ve been storing rice in for a month before adding new rice.

I am so happy not to have seen those pumpkin cheesecake cookies as I would have HAD to buy them; though the Maple Oreo ones we found probably weren’t any better health wise even if they were pretty tasty.

    1. Yes! I have the same questions. And, you want the nutritional information? That seems like so much work to cut it off of the box and tape it. And, what if the new formula of the product changes? So. many. questions!
Ha! I have been eating one or two after lunch and they have not been a big temptation but I know what you mean. Your son’s school sounds so unique! I love that.
