I am putting a question mark today because how is it already Monday and I am just not sure I am ready for a 5 day week. I am linking up with Heather, Tanya and many more today here.

Let’s go back to Friday. I finally settled into a better work groove last week and it felt great. I treated myself to a benedictine and bacon sandwich from Paul’s Fruit Market at lunchtime and took it out to the patio to read during my lunch. The weather was beautiful and my eyes needed time away from the screen. Paul’s Fruit Market is a little produce place really close to my house with a sandwich shop, butcher, gourmet food, and more. Benedictine is a cucumber cream cheese spread with green food coloring.

I am reading a cute book right now! A dog walker mixes up two basset hounds and then their owners have to meet to get their dogs back.

I worked after lunch and I made sure I was all ready to go for Monday. It was a great feeling!

I made a fall charcuterie board for Tom’s arrival home around 5:30. His company sent him home with a “grilling box” because they couldn’t have the annual company picnic. The boxes had four hot dogs, four burger patties, all the condiments and buns, and 4 twice baked potatoes. I love his company and they are so good to their employees.

So, we grilled and ate outside with

a fire and our nightly show! It was a lovely Friday empty nester night. But, you guys, we were having lots of little fire pit fires back in April and May and I just had flashbacks and thoughts of “we are still doing this”… I think it’s the changing of the seasons that really gives you pause. We started this life in spring and couldn’t possibly imagine it going through summer. Then summer came and we were still doing it, and now it will officially be fall tomorrow.

Saturday morning one of my sisters had gotten a plan together to meet in my hometown to celebrate my mom’s birthday – just the three daughters and my mom. Usually we have kids around which is great, but this was just adults – and no husbands.

My sister cleaned out her mini van for us and we all masked up and hopped in.

I am from a really cute little town in southern Indiana called Madison. It is only an hour drive for me. One of my sisters lives in central Indiana and has a two hour drive and the other lives in Columbus, Ohio and has a three hour drive.

Beautiful flowers.

We ate out on the sidewalk at a little soup and sandwich place.

I had a mushroom panini.

My sister laughed hysterically because I bumped into a mannequin and her thumb came off.

We ended our afternoon at this winery.

They let me bring a charcuterie board – my Friday night board was the trial run for this one!

And, we visited our Dad and placed pennies there for him.

Sunday Tom and I had an empty nester day date. We took the boat to lunch. Look at those skies!

Mimosa for me.

And, we split a salad and a wrap. I only got a photo of the salad.

And, after we boated I read on the patio and we had leftovers for dinner.

It was a very full weekend and I really stepped away from the screens which was much needed!

How was your weekend?

Amy

  1. You always have the best weekends! I love how y’all got together to celebrate your mom, my mom’s birthday is tomorrow and we are celebrating on Saturday. Your charcuterie boards look great! I wish it would cool off here enough to get outside and sit by the firepit.

    1. Thank you! It was a nice plan that my sis came up with! I hope you have a nice celebration, too. We need to celebrate as much as we can these days. Happy Monday to you!

  2. Looks like a fun time with your sisters! So sweet that you found a penny ❤️I love that Tom’s company gave you a grill box. That’s a definitely a fun idea. When I picked up my Kroger order yesterday, they gave me two little Kroger bags filled with snacks for an “at home tailgate.”

    1. Thank you! I love finding pennies. His company is so nice. We know what it’s like to work for a different company where he was never shown appreciation or a raise! Ha! I have once gotten a bag of extras at Kroger and that was so fun!

  3. Loved the charcuterie board! Perfect weekend! Our skies had cleared up so we were able to golf yesterday and enjoy lunch on the patio at the country club. Other then that, it was a pretty uneventful weekend. We are off to the beach house on Wednesday so I am ready to head back for a few days. Have a great week!

      1. Thank you! I guess it’s my form of blogging! I don’t do facebook anymore so IG is my social media outlet! We try to play once a week and starting next week i will start playing with the Nine Holers group at the CC. It’s fun, easy and a nice outlet for me since i haven’t been able to do much of anything the past 6 months!

  4. Wow, what a weekend you had! I’m jealous of it all! I want your charcuterie board, I want to be able to sit outside in the evening, and I want to go to that winery! 😀 Kentucky seems great!
We went to the cabin (as always) and had a great time with our 16-year-old, it’s like getting to know her on a new level when her older (dominating…) sister isn’t at home – fun!
Good luck with your 5 day week! We’re having a “sports day” on Wednesday (orienteering), so that will break up my week in a nice way.

    1. Thank you! I wish you could experience it here, too, but I am jealous of Sweden!
That is so fun to have one on one time with your youngest. I know what you mean. Thank you! Sports day sounds fun!

  5. What a fun girl’s day! My mom is heading down to see my sister soon and I am so bummed I can’t go with her this year. We had plans to all meet up in Myrtle beach this fall my mom, my 2 sisters, and I but everything got put on hold and we’re hoping we can make it happen next fall.

  6. So nice that you were able to get together with your sisters. I know what you mean about the changing seasons. This weekend we spent lots of time on the patio since our summer heat is leaving. It brought back memories of the spring and all the time we spent outside. And here we are again! Thanks for linking up with Hello Monday! Tanya – The Other Side of the Road

    1. Thank you! Yes, it’s really strange to reflect on this year. I’m so glad your weather is cooling off. I’m sure you miss Grace when thinking about the spring! Thank you!
