I’m not really sure if this is a tip or not! I’m getting ready to transition from “lazy can’t get out of the house before 10:00 a.m.” to “I can’t believe how much I did before 7:00 a.m.” mode.
I decided to time myself doing my morning routine. I love seeing the products other people use and I love reading about other peoples’ routines. Plus, I thought this would be an interesting exercise.
Is there some rule about not putting your naked mid-40s face on the internet? There should be!
I showed you every single product I used. I really don’t know much about products, but if you have any questions, I will try to answer. I’m using many things that came in my Ipsy bags. I didn’t hurry or do anything differently. It took me 6 minutes. Still scary..
Then, I did wet to styled hair. Disclaimer: I wash my hair at night and style in the morning during the school year. In the summer I rarely do the whole she-bang, but for our purposes I did so.
Final product was accomplished in roughly 9 minutes.
What did I learn? I learned that I really only would need 15 minutes after showering to do the whole routine if I didn’t get distracted.
I once did this with unloading the dishwasher. It was eye-opening. I used to hate unloading so much but after timing it I had a different mindset. It only took 2.5 minutes and from then on I didn’t hate it so much. But now, that’s what teenage boys are for!
Try this! It would be fun to estimate how long you think something takes and then compare to how long it really took.

What a fun exercise! It used to amaze me how much I got done before leaving the house for school, I swear I felt I’d live a day already! Now, it’s such a different pace for me working from home that when I do have to head out early in the morning to something other than the gym it feels huge, lol!
I love seeing the products you use. Your skin is so pretty even without make up!

This was a cringe worthy post for me – lol! But, thank you for the kind words. I have really liked the Ipsy bag. I love product recommendations. I have not worn makeup much this summer so I know wha you mean! I’ve saved money so I didn’t sweat it off!
Have a great day!

Love it! What a fun post! I also wash my hair at night during the school year….whenever I decide to wash it…Sunday’s and Wednesdays seem to be the days. I love how you timed yourself. Do you like the NYX butter gloss? I have been wanting to try it! What a fun post!

Thank you! I sleep better when I shower at night. I have to wash my hair more frequently, unfortunately. I love butter gloss! Just saw it at Walgreens today. It’s only $5 and I’m picky about consistency and smell. I think I will do a post on my fave lip brands and colors!

Oh my goodness what a neat post! You’ve got your routine down! I don’t know if I could do everything in less than 10 minutes!! Hair is where it gets me!

Haha! I actually get ready faster than my husband and he doesn’t have much hair. I think I could narrow down the number of products I use for makeup, too. I was never very high maintenance but now I feel like I am! Hair does take the longest and that’s why I wash at night. I sleep so well at night after showering, too!
