It’s June! How did that happen? Let’s link up with Sarah and Holly to share our weekends…

Let’s start with Thursday…

After visiting my school on Thursday around lunchtime and having some feelings surrounding that, I was ready for a happy hour. My high school friend Beth came to my house and I drove us to a place I had been once several years ago but had wanted to try again called South Seas. I knew they had the trend of the soft serve alcohol drinks, and your girl was having FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). The bartender was so friendly and nice to us and explained how they made them and let us try some samples.

We both picked blueberry margarita…

I liked it, but you have to eat it with a spoon and it melts really fast, so the jury was still out on this trend for me.

We also had some plantain chips and dips:

We had some nice conversation, and it was really fun!

We got home in time for dinner and I had prepared early. We had orzo with chicken and spinach and I didn’t eat much, but I was glad I had prepped it ahead of time.

Friday morning I was excited to go get some new library books since I had decided to abandon my last book and my other books weren’t appealing to me.

Look at my fun summer stack:

I love my library!

After the library, I stopped at Whole Foods to get some turkey, sliced sourdough, bagels, and a couple of other impulse purchases.

By the way…

I think Dazzle Dry nail polish is really good. I am not the best at polishing perfectly, but I enjoyed the red color for about 5 days and then took it off:

Next, I decided to just do a traditional OPI mani on myself. My nails are damaged from about 1/3 of the way to the top of the nail from my two gel manis. I am letting that grow out and just keeping them short. They are not strong at all right now, so they are breaking quite often.

I started this and finished this over the weekend. The story hooked me and I really enjoyed it.

Friday night has meant eating at home lately. I decided to try to make fried goat cheese balls (as one does, you know?) for a salad and they turned out great! I made a homemade dressing.

I also made these tater skin rounds and they were delicious. Tom had some leftover pizza from lunch, too.

We watched a couple of shows together and it was a nice evening.

Saturday was gorgeous and I opened the sun roof!

I went to see how high the river was…

You should be able to walk on that ramp to the dock.

I think this photos shows it better:

So, sadly, even with such a gorgeous day, the river is not safe for recreational boating. There is lots of debris, too.

I called Heather and she said she was on the way to Sassy Fox so I met her there. I have never seen so much summer consignment. Good stuff! I put out an APB/Instagram post to tell my friends to go check it out.

Weird photo:

I left with a pair of black J.Crew shorts for $7. I could have bought more, but I am being very practical.

Did you read this? I couldn’t tell you any details but I know I read it.

I watched the movie in the afternoon and it was ok.

Tom and I went to a new to us Mexican place that was really good and had a really lively decor:

I had to try this one, too:

Here’s my verdict on the soft serve alcohol: You have to eat it with a spoon. I wasn’t excited to do that while trying to eat my weight in chips and salsa. It’s very cold. It’s very strong. It was $16. I have determined that I shall drink my alcohol and eat my ice cream with a spoon. I was only able to eat about 5 spoonfuls. So, I believe I now have JOMO (Joy of Missing Out).

I ordered a chicken burrito and we were glad we hadn’t ordered queso because we were both dipping chips into the vast amount of queso on my burrito – lol.

Tom got birria tacos and we brought home two big boxes of leftover food. We both wished for Mason to be here to eat it.

We walked EO when we got home and then watched some tv.

We capped off the weekend by going to see a late Sunday afternoon matinee of this:

It exceeded my expectations. Tom and I laughed through the whole movie. He is really clean and I told my sisters it would be appropriate for their 6th and 7th grade boys, too.

Yes, we do take our leftover popcorn home with us.

I started this:

It seems cute so far!

A couple of reminders…

Fashion Files is tomorrow! Show us what you’ve been wearing, what you have dug out for the season, what you hope to wear, your summer shoes – anything to do with fashion. You can show one photo or multiple photos. Maybe participating will force you to wear and evaluate your summer clothing? What do you think about us adding themes throughout the summer like “white pants” or “linen” or “Pinterest copycat”?

Currently is Wednesday, June 3. If you also do Hodgepodge with Joyce, feel free to combo them.

The prompts are: enjoying, wearing, watching, listening to, and buying.

What was the highlight of your weekend? I would love to know!

Amy

  1. I just put a hold on that book you read (Story Might Save Your Life) – I hope I get it!

I think those soft serve drinks are cute but I’d pass too.

Hope you get to boat soon, so crazy how high that water is.

We went to a movie this weekend, we saw Backrooms. Not sure I’d say it’s a must see for everyone. Just kind of strange. I would like to see the Nate movie!

    1. The book took me a bit to get into and there was a lot of talk about one thing but I guess it was imperative to the story.
I saw that advertised. I still haven’t seen Devil and I might be too late!

  2. I’m not a Colleen Hoover fan at all so I haven’t and won’t read the book you referenced. Now the movie- that I think I want to see. I’ve only heard of him, not heard anything from him but I’ve only heard good things about him so I think I’d like to see that. Your weekend looks nice- bummer about the river but it’s gonna go down- if your weather is like ours there’s not a lot of rain in the forecast. The drink looks so cute but it’s definitely not something I’d drink. Dirty soda soft serve? I’m IN, lol. I don’t think such a thing exists but if it did… Have a great Monday!

    1. The movie Regretting You was just so so, in my opinion.; it was probably one of the first COHO books I read. You should watch some Nate Bargatze comedy sketches. He is funny without being vulgar. The river is so high, but it will go down. Yeah, the drink is not for me, either. I still haven’t seen a place to get a dirty soda near me. I think a rootbeer float would be a dirty soda type thing? You too! I can tell Mondays hit differently now! Woohoo!

  3. Okay now I am having FOMO of your fun soft serve cocktails- i need to try one stat! I was hoping to read they would be more liquidy though so maybe when I try one it will be for dessert? What a great weekend Amy- looks and sounds so fun 🙂

    1. Let me know what you think. They aren’t for me. Yes, maybe as a stand alone without food? And, maybe you can use a straw when they melt but then what’s the point?
      Yours sounds so fun!

  4. What a great weekend! I understand the non-love on the soft serve margarita. I, on the other hand, have no problem eating my alcohol! I’ve had three in ten days. Ha! That consignment store had a lot of great inventory, it looks like. Look at you being intentional! I know you’re ready for boating season to be fully under way and will be glad when the river is back to normal. I’m excited to see you in a few weeks!

    1. I think you are more into ice cream than I am and I am more into cocktails so maybe that makes sense.
I am trying to be intentional. I really don’t need any clothes.
I think it will be back in business in a few days but we really only boat on weekends bc of my captain’s strict week day schedule. Lol.

  5. Loved this post of just hearing about your weekend! Random notes here….I haven’t tried the soft serve margarita yet, but maybe I should once? I am inspired by your dinner of orzo, spinach and chicken. Perfect timing because I am going grocery shopping this morning! I love the store time with a friend you had. I want to go see that movie, so maybe I can go with my new roommate soon :). Wow, the river is high. I am experimenting with some different press on nails, so I will give you more of a review when I see you soon. Thanks for the reminder about Currently! Happy Monday friend!

  6. The highlight of my weekend – the Spurs won the western conference!! Woo hoo!! I love soft serve and an alcoholic drink but not sure about the combo. Maybe it’s a try it once and done thing.

    1. I wish I cared about sports ball but I just can’t make myself. I like sports foods. I don’t think the trend is for me. If you try it, let me know!

  7. I have never seen those soft serve alcohol drinks here in England yet. They better be a thing soon, I need to try one. It sounds like a great happy hour. Your nails look good and so does the goat cheese balls! That is a shame the water level was too high to go out on the boat. It looks like a great weekend.

  8. Looks like a fun weekend! Thank you for doing the work for the rest of us and trying the frozen alcohol lol . Sounds like fun idea but I wouldn’t like eating it with a spoon either haha
Thanks for book reccs…I added a couple to my list. I want to NB’s movie. I listened to him on the Kelce brothers’ podcast and he mentioned all theaters have the “Nate rate” with a lower priced ticket?

    1. Well, I do think you should try it! Don’t take my word for it.
Great! You should try to get the whole fam to go to the movie. Really? I didn’t hear about that.

  9. I haven’t seen any places doing the soft serve here, but I know I prefer my margarita in beverage form : ) Sounds like a nice weekend. I love Nate Bargatze but I don’t think we’ll get to the theatre before it leaves. Will definitely watch it once it’s streamed. That happens fast these days. Have a great week!

    1. I think it would be a Mexican place and it wasn’t even on the menu at the one we went to on Saturday – I had to ask.
The movie was family friendly and cute.
      It does happen so fast!
      You too!

  10. I don’t think I would like to eat my drink with a spoon, either. But, I don’t drink that much so I am pretty sure it would hit me fast! That consignment store looked amazing! The one I go to is just one step up from Goodwill. I hope the river goes down soon so you can go boating. I gave a helluva good tour on Sunday…that was the highlight of my weekend!

It was a good one. They don’t do fast fashion at that one. Thank you! That’s amazing! I’m so glad you took the risk to become a docent. It has filled your cup!
