Can you believe I am typing “June”? This is crazy, but it means that the summer clothing is going to be on sale soon! Today is Fashion Files with Marsha and myself and we hope you will link up with us. Let’s keep “fashion” blogging alive! Maybe you will “meet” a new blogger. Maybe I will stop using quotes? Probably not!
Last week I had a good old-fashioned wander around Target. I took advantage of their mirror to show you that I wore my Crocs Miami in black, my Aerie cut offs(click on this link and they are $9.99 in pink petal colorway), and my navy Old Navy blouse (that’s fun to say). It appears the ruffle blouse is sold out in every size and every color, but you might be able to find it in store.
I did not buy any clothing, shoes, or accessories. I bought cleaning and food stuffs and only spent $40. Am I growing up?

One day last week Tom and I had an appointment with our financial advisor dude and I had been wanting to wear some of my dresses. I wore this Umgee dress, very old Target buckle sandals, and a J.Crew consignment cardigan. I have thought about upgrading my flat buckle sandals but there really wasn’t a need.

I went to visit my old school in this – old Target olive green Universal Thread shorts, Marshall’s floral embroidery blouse, and my Kork Ease buckle sandals. I also wore this to happy hour with a friend later on in the afternoon.

Let’s talk about gauze now. I ordered brown and white gauze tops that are identical to my mustard gauze. I am on the fence about if this style is flattering on me. I’m on the fence if I care because they are great tops for summer. These are $15 each. I have already washed and dried the mustard a few times and it did well. Bonus, if I eat a hot dog with mustard and spill I will be ok.
I wore this out to dinner – the white one with very old printed pants and Aerie gold flip flops. I am confused about the stains in the photo – there is nothing on my mirror and nothing on my shirt in real life.

I also bought the corresponding gauzy drawstring shorts in mustard, brown, and white – thinking that I could create “sets”. Sets are hard when your bottom half ain’t the same size as your top half. In this very bad photo example below of the “peppercorn”, my bottom size is 3 sizes smaller than my top size. I could have gone up a size in one and down in one probably. Who is getting lotion on my mirror? I think it’s a good reminder that sizes are not gospel. Sometimes you want to try multiple sizes and choose how you want something to fit.

I can wear them as a set or separately.
I ordered Archie’s flip flops in chili last week that you see in the above photo. They are good quality but I almost think my arches aren’t high enough for them. Anyone tried Archie’s? This was honestly such an impulse purchase.

I popped into my consignment shop and found some J.Crew simple lightweight black shorts for $7 and they are in this photo with the brown gauzy top:

And here:

I already had turquoise and orange gauzy shorts from my local boutique’s sales rack and I wear these quite a bit.

These are the new mustard, peppercorn, and I also have white.

I wore this graphic tee with the mustard:

Do you feel comfortable wearing shorts out of the house for non-exercise outings? I do, but I do hate the feel of my legs sticking to a chair or a booth so I prefer not to wear them to sitting down things.
I am trying to either wear what I have or let it go. I am more comfortable with a smaller selection.

Don’t forget that Currently is tomorrow! I hope you will join me to share what you are: enjoying, wearing, watching, listening to, and buying!
For today’s Fashion Files,
Tell me your thoughts on any of my outfits or your thoughts on gauze. Are you a gauzy girl? Or boy? I don’t want to leave my two male readers out.
XOXO,
Amy
You are the gauze girl! Love the pretty yellow and brown shorts. It’s hasn’t been warm enough here in Chicago to start wearing shorts all the time but I might have to get a pair when it does. Thanks for the link up!

I actually had the thought that the mustard and brown could work into fall when it’s still hot but you don’t feel right being too summery. I find the material nice. Thank you for linking up!

I’m not a gauzy girl but I like YOUR gauze, girl! Also, I was going to link up but danggumit, I keep not taking pics of my outfits :(. Then I was trying to think of a fashion topic that didn’t include pictures of me (since I have none); I feel certain there’s a fashion topic about which I could write but inspo did not strike. Anyway, I like your outfits. Looking good for summer! Iike your outfit that you wore to see your financial advisor- it’s very, “I hope the news is good from our FI and if it isn’t, I still look cute.” Have a great Tuesday :).

Hehe! I like what you did there. Are you fundamentally against gauze? It’s totally different now that you aren’t working I’m sure. I bet Alyssa would help you! Haha – great way to put my “financial outfit”. I’m retired so he no longer gets to say “this is when you can retire” – the jokes on him.

You’ve been talking about gauze so much. . .I keep thinking, as I read, that I will “go to Target and check it out” but then I never do – just not much of a shopper, ha! I think I have a top that is “gauze-ish” and really like the lightness of it. And NO, I rarely wear shorts. Every year I try. . .I buy a pair or two and then NO. I don’t know why? I wear tennis skirts at least five days a week, so it’s not my legs being exposed (although the older I get the uglier they get – gah). . .I don’t know? I did buy some pj’s that are shorts this year and am trying to get used to them.
It’s funny, I *think* about my outfits so much more now because of these posts so thank you!!!

I don’t know if I have seen gauze at Target but surely they have it. I hardly looked at their clothing. If shorts don’t feel like you then that’s good to know. I love tennis skirts. I only have two that I don’t use for tennis – lol.
I’m sorry – that might not be a good thing!

Ha! I meant Old Navy – our Target and Old Navy are very close to one another and I rarely shop at either but want to stop in to ON – I used to shop there *all* the time and still have some favorite items from there!
Wear your tennis skirts!! You don’t have to play a racquet sport to wear them. . .!!

You should stop in and see!
I wore one yesterday to walk the dog and to run errands. I only have two right now.

So many great outfits! I love your dinner out outfit and the pretty dress to meet money man. I love guazy fabric – I have three sets of the target pjs that were so popular a few summers ago. I have a couple dresses and a pool coverup but no shorts…so I want to find some now. They’d be perfect for summer.

Thank you! Oh, I missed the boat on those pjs but I remember yours. I love my kelly green gauze dress. It can work as a coverup, too. I wore my white gauze shorts with a button up yesterday and they were so comfy. Sometimes you don’t know right about how a piece will feel and they were winners!

I love all of your shorts and gauzy things! I wish I wore shorts as well as you…I had bought a few sets last year that I don’t love this year now, and I even bought some shorts rompers that I loved then that I don’t love now. So basically I never know what to wear outside of my house now since it’s hot, but leggings are not going to cut it for me. I’m genuinely tired of everything in my closet and I need to do some shopping…but I don’t want to have to do that. I am in a conundrum! I don’t see stains on your mirror or your shirt…check your computer screen! I have to do that all the time. Ha!

I think sometimes there is a learning curve to a new season but also what felt like you last season may not feel like you now! That’s ok! What about some linen pants? Do you have any? I have found that the type of pant that doesn’t touch your legs are very cooling. Are you excited about your dresses with flip flops? Do they seem too dressy? You know I love a fashion project!
That would be hilarious! I probably do need to clean my computer screen badly!

I LOVE my Archies! My super flat feet appreciate the support.
I’ve not had much luck with gauze. But I did take a chance on some TikTok viral linen pants, and I LOVE them! Waiting on 2 more pairs to come in.
If I had your legs, I’d wear nothing but shorts.

Now, did you have a breaking in period? I think my feet are probably average arches.
I have never shopped at the TT shop yet! Do you have a link for the pants?
You are so sweet but you can’t see all the blemishes. I have my Dad’s legs, I think. I’m sure you don’t remember them. Lol.

I don’t remember having a break-in period. But pretty much all of my shoes have some sort of arch support like that, so maybe I’m just used to it.
I found the pants on TT, but ordered from Amazon because they were a little cheaper. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F2Y2YKNN?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1&psc=1

I don’t have many gauze pieces but the ones I have I love. I have a black Old Navy ruffle sleeve top and the matching gauze shorts and an coral orange gauze dress from Old Navy. I am thinking I need something in brown now 🤔 I love all of your outfits as usual!!

Ooh, those sound great! This season? I was actually thinking the brown would work into fall! Thank you so much!

I forgot I also have a navy blue gauze top that I bought at Costco. It’s got a cute fit to it. Costco gets cute clothes sometimes!

They do! That’s a great color to have in gauze!

Yes! Bring on all the gauzy pieces. They look great on you and so comfy and stylish at the same time!

Yes! I have a few pairs of white gauzy pants and I wear them all summer- just love

OOh, white would be so great to have!

You look so cute in your short outfits! I wear them occasionally out of the house. Having some color to my legs helps though! I almost bought some more gauze from Old Navy a few weeks ago, but resisted because I have a closet full of clothes. But I may get some more things as the summer goes on and I get rid of older things.

You should wear your shorts! A little color helps and also knowing your length helps. I usually like a little shorter because if they are too long I feel like my legs look stubbier.
I know – you do have quite a full closet!

You look great in shorts! I haven’t worn shorts in years – when I was raising little kids in nyc I always wore sundresses because I didn’t want my bare legs touching subway seats, taxi seats ,or park benches, lol. It became such a habit that I had to deliberately try shorts recently – but I don’t like the way they look, no matter what style I try. I also recently shrunk my first pair of gauze drawstring pants, which is a bummer.

Thank you! I love that you were a sundress person! I would love to be. I’m so sorry about the pants. Have you tried a skort? They can be in different lengths with your comfort level but they might not be long enough to cover for sitting in the public spaces.

Gu Amy!
I went to Old Navy and bought a white pair of gauze pants and a couple of the tank swing tops in a yellow print and orange and black. I haven’t worn them yet but thanks!
I think you look so cute in the multi color pants above. And, I have never seen you in one color I think it works for you well. Very well.
I have been into matching sets lately I blame it on age. But I like them on me as well. I think you look more together. And I’m about 2 sizes different on top and bottom. I can never buy sets except when sold separately. Keep it up! You look great!
Cheers Missy

ON is really doing well this season. I noticed Gap and J.Crew Factory have gauze, too, but the ON is about the same quality now.
Thank you! The pants are pretty old and feel a little too snug but I love the print.
More retailers need to do the sets sold separately. They are very nice to throw on – no thinking required!

Happy Tuesday! I do have a pair of navy Archies and I love them! They are the only flip-flops that I can wear and not aggravate my plantar fasciitis. Now, if that isn’t a senior citizen sentence I don’t know what would be lol I am contemplating buying a pair of the chocolate brown ones now. I wore them in Hawaii for an entire day and my foot never hurt at all. I like the peppercorn set. I think sets look so cute! Have a good day!

I love the chocolate brown ones! I have heard that about PF. lol. Thank you! I’m probably not a set person but we will see.

You have the greatest legs!! I tried Archie’s once and they were heavy and the arch too high for me as well. (To be fair, I have no arch.)

Thank you so much but they are far from where I’d like them to be. Yes, the jury is still out for me on the Archie’s. They kind of hurt.

You should seriously always wear shorts, short skirts etc.. until it gets to cold to do so! You have the best shapeliest legs! Go girl 🙂

That is so sweet to say that. They are bigger than I would like – I wish I could go back to my more muscular era.

I will wear my denim shorts to run to the grocery store, but that’s about it. Unfortunately I have some varicose vein action that I hate to look at! Give me all the gauze!

Have you tried some leg makeup? I am sure no one else notices but if it keeps you from shorts it might help? Gauze is great, isn’t it?

I am going to have to track down the gauze shorts I bought last summer (that you totally influenced me to buy). I don’t wear flip flops much, but I keep thinking about a pair of Vionics. Then, I stop because that’s a lot of $$$ for flip flops!

Vionics are expensive but WORTH IT. I would rather have one pair of those then 3 cheaper pairs to rotate and not love as much. . . .

So true with so many quality things. I have never tried them on.

Yes, do! Shop your closet! Some of my commenters have sung their praises. Maybe you can find some on sale.

I like guaze! I wear shorts out but I HATE having my legs stick to seats – yuck! I prefer a longer short or something else altogether.
I really like my longer linen shorts from NYDJ – they are the perfect length.

Same! I don’t think long shorts look good on me so I do try to wear pants or a dress.

Lots of cute summery outfits! I am currently on a gauze kick myself but I prefer lightweight gauzy pants over shorts. I’m just not much of a shorts girl, never have been, which is a little sad because I do like my legs! LOL My top size is also about 2-3 sizes larger than my bottom size. It does make buying matching sets difficult but a lot of retailers now sell them as separates which really helps me! I just bought some really cute pajamas from Walmart that I want to share on my blog at some point. I got the large bottoms but a medium would probably fit me and then I needed a 2X on top. Thanks for hosting this fun fashion party!

Thank you! I love those, too. I have a pair of black and blue pants. The shape is probably not the most flattering but I love the material. They both went to Spain with me.
Have you thought about skorts? If you aren’t a shorts girl but like your legs, this might be a good compromise.
Yes – the sets as separates are key!
Sounds like we have the same issue!

I love your colorful style and all the outfits that you wore in this post! I am going to be on the lookout for gauzy things- they look so lightweight and comfy! I don’t think I own any gauze.
My biggest struggle in the summer is that I dress like it’s summer, and then whenever I go somewhere in public I’m FREEZING. I don’t want to wear a sweater in the summer, people! I want to be comfortable in a tank top and shorts!

Thank you so much! I have seen them in Gap, Old Navy, J.Crew Factory. I don’t think you will have trouble. I have not felt an overly AC’ed place yet. I think that happens more in certain parts of the country, perhaps.
