Do you make a seasonal goals list? I have tried to make one most seasons in the recent past because I find it helps me be more intentional about having fun! Yes, this list is primarily about having fun and squeezing the joy out of a certain season.
The above photo is from last year. Can I be honest? I don’t love a raked yard. Leave all the leaves for me to enjoy! They don’t bother me at all! I have also heard it’s good for the environment to leave them. I’m scared. It’s leaf blowing season and I have a next door neighbor-ish person (long story) that blows for hours in all seasons but this is the season that he lives for. He goes to Home Depot and says, “give me the loudest model you’ve got”. And, I’m pretty sure he times his blowing for right when I go outside to read or enjoy the weather. Yeah, I guess we have to take the good with the bad, right? Anyway, he really blows.
-Make apple recipes and enjoy apple smells
-Make pumpkin recipes and enjoy pumpkin flavors and smells
-Attend anything fall-themed in my community
-Make a full German meal
-Go Fall boating and look at changing leaves
-Have a fire in my Solo Stove

-Use my minimal fall decor. Add Halloween October 1. Add Thanksgiving November 1.

-Go to an Oktoberfest
-Go to a Fall festival

-Buy pumpkins and mums for my back patio and I would like to do the front this year, as well. Put up my Fall flag.
-Buy a new Halloween graphic tee to wear under a cardigan
-Do a fun Halloween mani

-Break out the seasonal cocktails – my fall sangria and red wine

-It’s bourbon season! Enjoy it in an old fashioned or in a bourbon punch.
-Do Soup Sunday where I make a soup most Sundays
-Celebrate my birthday – one birthday is pictured below

-Make mummy dogs and chili for Halloween dinner. I think I have decided I like a hot dog wrapped in Crescent Roll dough more than on a bun. I would love to have Halloween plans but we usually just stay home.

-Celebrate Thanksgiving

-Read fall books, watch fall movies, watch fall tv
-Read outside
-Take lots of walks and try to do some hikes, too
-Embrace the time change and it getting dark earlier by getting cozy and embracing fall hygge practices
I found this list:

What are you looking forward to doing this fall? Do you have a favorite fall movie? Fall food?
Amy
We have one of those leaf blowing neighbors too! They aren’t super close to us but with the lake all the sound echos and is amplified… I actually spend far less time outside at home in fall mostly because of the constant noise. I don’t really have any favorite fall movies or books; I’m not really a spooky, magic, Halloween kind of person and I feel like those movies I used to enjoy during this time of year I’m just sick of watching. I do have a few fall-ish looking books I requested through NetGalley I’m hopeful will fit the bill.

It’s 2025! Why can’t they make quiet blowers? I’m not into that stuff either. I think of a fall movie as walking around New York city with leaves falling or Gilmore Girls fall episodes. Lol.

Bwhahahahaha, your neighbor really blows!
You have a great fall bucket list! I think we are going to an Oktoberfest this weekend.
Other than that, I don’t have too many fall goals. Right now I’m trying to get through a work conference. Once that’s over maybe I’ll start getting creative and coming up with some fun things to do!

He doesn’t even live there! He has been divorced from the woman for 18 years and never lived there. It’s so weird.
We have a chance to do an Oktoberfest this weekend, too. I missed one I wanted to go to since I was out of town.
You will!
Ugh – work conferences and being out of your routine.

I giggled and groaned about your neighbor story because funny but FRUSTRATING as all get out. I would be annoyed. Leaves are for sure good for the environment insofar as they decompose and help the life process cycle. I add as many leaves to my compost bin as will fit in the bin each fall. However, when I´ve left a pile on the ground, the grass underneath it dies so that´s a pretty good incentive for me to get them off the ground in the fall. I wonder if your neighbor is violating sound ordinances with the blower? You have good items on this list, girl! You´re gonna have a great fall, inconsiderate neighbor notwithstanding.

Haha – It is funny but would be funnier if it wasn’t happening to me. We think he might be like OCD or something? It usually goes on for 3-4 hours at dinner time and we can hear it in our house. He has been divorced from the woman who lives next door for 18 years and never lived there. But, he is always there. We can’t exactly figure out what is going on. He doesn’t appear to work and she is a life coach. That is true about killing the grass.

He DOES really blow! 🤣 I agree about a raked yard; I love it when the leaves are all crunchy on the ground. It’s my favorite sound and sight! This is a great list of things to do this fall. I want to work on some sort of a list for me as well! I’ll be checking off some big things on my trip in a couple of weeks. I’m excited about going somewhere quintessentially fall! Happy Tuesday!

Tom says I’m way too involved in this neighbor and what they do. Lol. I can’t wait to hear about your trip. All the fall vibes!

An annoying neighbor is annoying. I feel like most people using leaf blowers here do that in the morning. Our neighbor sometimes wants to do that at dinner time, but if he sees we’re out he asks if we mind. He’s not doing it for hours though. That would annoy anyone. Maybe put in some headphones when he’s out? You have some fun things on your list for fall. There’s an Oktoberfest here we like to attend, but we have a lot of weekend activities on the calendar and will have to see if that works this year. We made a date yesterday to go have lunch in the mountains in a couple of weeks. The leaves are turning so we decided to put it on the calendar to make it happen. Happy fall!

What a fabulous list of autumn fun! If you don’t mind, I may just “copy and paste” with a few edits for my own list. I love the way you are intentional in planning your joy! (And here’s hoping that leaf blowing neighbor tames it down!)

Of course! I will steal some ideas from others, too. Also, my former student told me to write my bucket list on paper and keep it hanging where I can see it. Smart girl! I need to do that. We had only about 10 minutes of blowing yesterday but it was right when I went to read a magazine on my porch. He must wait for me!

I’m with you on the leaves. Maybe because here in Texas we don’t see a lot of changing colors and fallen leaves. I do love fall best and love your list. One of these days I hope I can experience a picturesque fall in one of the eastern states.

I even love wet leaves after a ran but they can be so slippery! Thank you! Yes, that is a good goal! I would like to do that, too.

I always make a batch of pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. I love most apple and pumpkin flavored food and drink in the fall. Not together of course! 😉 I have a leaf blower and love it but I only use it for maybe 10 mins at a time and not early morning! We just mow our leaves and mulch them. We rarely ever bag leaves. Sorry you have an annoying neighbor!

Sometimes I like the chocolate and sometimes I want no chocolate. Yes! I would say 10 min. is acceptable.

I love seeing the leaves on the ground, especially when they are crisp and dry.
What a great list! I have been doing some of these things already, I want to make the most of the season. I am determined to make some pumpkin recipes this year too!

Me too! Love that crunch! Thank you! Is pumpkin hard to find there?

There is nothing like walking through a pile of leaves. When we lived up north, we had huge piles. We had over an acre of land covered with trees. We had to rake because the leaves would be many inches thick. I miss those leaves and those trees.
I am supposed to do a fall list but I’m not sure when I’ll get it done!

That reminds me of childhood! Oh yes! Leaves can be a lot of work.
You can do it gradually and add and subtract – no rules.

This is an inspiring list. I love the idea of a German meal! Many of our trees don’t drop their leaves, so it is not much of an issue here to rake/blow. Hope you’re having a terrific Tuesday!
