I decided to share this in case it can help anyone! I use the term “baking” very loosely.

I will include my recipes to help you, too!

I started making a list in my phone memo and then I ordered the ingredients from my last Kroger pick up and from Amazon. I cannot find bagel chips in my Kroger!

I love to make Chex Mix at the holidays because we have more time at home to watch movies and snack. Homemade is just so much better than the kind you can buy. I am using pretzel sticks, bagel chips, peanuts, Rice Chex, Corn Chex, and Wheat Chex. Have you ever heard it called “Nuts and Bolts”. I had not and it made me chuckle.

I want to try Melanie Shankle’s recipe below for chocolate chip cookies. My kids are purists and love the Nestle Recipe but maybe I can fool them? I am intrigued by the raw sugar and purchased it to try in this recipe. The Ghirardelli chips are next level! I had to peek, but have not made the recipe yet.

White Chocolate Chex Mix – I would almost rather have a little cup of this than a cookie. Are you like that, too?

Puppy Chow – lol. I did buy Crispix cereal rather than using a Chex cereal.

Peanut Butter Blossoms – why are these so good?

Pretzel Rolo Candies with red and green M & Ms.

Pink meringues because it’s tradition.

I don’t plan to have one big baking day, but to make things when I feel like it.

Do you have a baking list?

Amy

  1. The pretzel rolos are my favorite holiday treat! I have refrained so far from buying M&M’s, but I do love a holiday bag for all the baking. I need to decide this week what I want to bake/cook for next week. Chex mix is such a winter classic snack for sure. I hope you can enjoy some baking on your break!

  2. These all sound yummy! Homemade Chex Mix is the best. I have a hard time eating the store bought stuff after having made it so often ourselves and in so many different varieties.

  3. We like to add a bag of popcorn (regular store bought not microwave) to the white chocolate Chex mix and just increase the amount of coating.

  4. I don’t have a baking list, but this sounds good. I do Chex Mix all the time, though. I love it and made the first batch last weekend. Jonah and I could eat our weight in it, it’s so delicious! I think I’m going to make some more to take to an office ladies Christmas luncheon this week. I haven’t made PB Buckeyes, but those are some of my favorite!

  5. I 100% agree about the chex mix. And we love the white chocolate variety here too at the holidays. It’s addictive! I bought the ingredients to make that to take with us to family and had to go to two stores yesterday to find red and green m/ms. I make the white chocolate at Easter too with pastel m/ms. I’ve made three varieties of cookies so far but will likely do three more. My hubs ‘accidentally’ volunteered me to bring a 4-layer chocolate cake to a friends party tomorrow which takes me almost a whole day to put together. I’m glad he loves it so much but there’s other baking I’d rather be doing right now. Enjoy your day and happy baking!

    1. Luckily my m and m were at my Kroger!
Get this- we are having a a faculty meeting today (not necessary) with a dessert bar. Guess who was asked to make the desserts? The teachers! No thank you!!!

  6. I baked peanut butter blossoms today. The chocolate chip recipe sounds intriguing. I’ve never used raw sugar before, but I have used Ghiradelli chocolate chips. I didn’t really notice a big difference. I use the recipe on the Crisco can and like it better than the Toll House one. I have to make those doggone roll out sugar cookies because they’re my husband’s favorites. I am not a decorator so I just smear on some icing and call it a day.
