Whew! It’s Friday! I am linking up with the gals here for Friday Favorites.
It’s been a good week, though. I have been tired at the end of each day, but that is my normal.
So, here are some of my faves from the week. I hope you had many, too!
I sent my kids back to college with a Trader Joe’s 99cent chocolate advent calendar. They chuckled. I don’t think I had gotten them one the last two years of college. I always get them for all my nieces and nephews and give them to them at Thanksgiving. I got the guitar version especially for Jack who plays guitar.

We actually had a Tuesday night outing. Tom and I got to hear the jazz ensemble that Jack is a part of. He is playing electric guitar for this group. Mason was able to slip away and join us, as well. He was in the middle of writing a paper, but came anyway. Again, it’s nice to be able to do something like watch a Tuesday concert. Jack is on the far left with the guitar. His professor is next to him on stage and played with the group and seems really enthusiastic. We noticed one of Jack’s other music professors in the audience supporting this group. Small colleges, you all. Don’t discount them. My kids are going for cheaper than a state school and I know without a shadow of a doubt that their professors know them. Small was the way to go for us. I also attended a small liberal arts college so I guess I have a bias.

I need some new black tights! Anyone got a recommendation? Actually, I haven’t even looked to see what state mine are in, but I thought I would check. How cute is this outfit?

I picked up a $10 blanket for my couch at Target. I am enjoying it!

Who is ready for Emily in Paris? We only have to wait until December 21st!

Jennifer recommended this brand and I am really loving it. You cannot be the price and it doesn’t have any of the yucky stuff in it.

I love my holiday plates from Target many years ago. I have the Santa,

the tree,

and the reindeer and I think I have 10 plates total.

Let’s talk food from the week. I made a shepherd’s pie that is Erica’s recipe. I used double beef broth because I don’t have any beer and I added some tomato paste to make it more tomatoey. You all, this is so good! Tom approved, too!

Erica made my favorite meal of the week – beef bulgogi bowls. Wow!

I am enjoying watching the squirrels eating my pumpkin!

Fashion Files was yesterday, but here is my Thursday outfit. I love this bright sweater.

I really love this Gucci stripe sweater look and I ordered a similar one from Amazon.

We will see if it fits. I went down a size to get it quicker. One size would have been here January 14 and another size on Monday!
I am re-instating Soup Sundays! I am really excited to make skinny lasagna soup this Sunday. I’m going to add spinach and zucchini to boost the vegetables.
So, what were your favorites this week? I would love to know!
Amy
I use that same shampoo and conditioner and I just love it! I’m going to have to check out all of these recipes; I have 3 blank spots on next weeks calendar and I’m sick of making the same old recipes.

It’s such a good price! I want to try another scent. The shepherds pie was comfort food at its best! Check out Slender Kitchen and another option is the faux KFC bowls. I bet your crew would like those!

I love that you were able to see the concert! What a great way to spend your Tuesday night. I love the pink sweater! I need to start Soup Sunday. I like that idea 🙂 I didn’t do a good job planning meals this week. I mean – everyone got fed 😂but didn’t plan leftovers correctly.

It was so nice! I did pay for it a bit the next day because it had me up later than normal. Thank you – it’s so bright and happy! Yes! I love Soup Sunday. I think Carolina Charm blog came up with it. I get that – I have weeks like that especially coming off of holidays.

Thanks for the shout-out! I’m so glad you like that brand. It’s all I’ve used for over a year now. That soup looks AMAZING. I’m going to bookmark that page and make it and maybe some of her other suggestions. I love that your boys love their small college and that they have such great relationships with their professors. That’s so rare! My favorite from this week was adding touches of Christmas cheer to my outfit choices. And the cold weather is back- I love it so much!

Thanks for the frugal rec! I used to not think soup was a meal but as an older adult I really appreciate the simplicity of having soup in the fridge. Tom loves soup. I think it has been a good choice for college. I love your Christmas touches. I only have a couple of seasonal things. Our weather is in the 40s so not too bad!

I’m sorry, I can’t get past the part where you don’t have any beer…

I knew someone would call me out on that! Tom doesn’t drink and I haven’t had any beer in the house for awhile. Do not worry – I have hard stuff and wine.

Looking forward to the next season of Emily in Paris. Those coconut hair products look and sound amazing and I am loving that pink sweater on you! Have an awesome weekend 🙂

Me too! It is a guilty pleasure for sure. It is super cheesy, but Paris is the best part of the show!
Thank you! It’s bright and makes me happy!

Happy Friday Amy! Thanks for sharing the coconut shampoo/conditioner. I tend to gravitate toward that old-school “sunscreen-y” smell bc it reminds me of summer. Ok this is random but are you still loving the Donna Karan deodorant? I haven’t tried it yet but think I’ll treat myself to it for Christmas since I’ve heard such good things. Have a great weekend!

To you, too! Yes! I love a coconut scent. I still love the deoderant and gave it for gifts to my two besties for their birthdays with a few other goodies. I have not let myself get it again because I am trying to be practical, but I really miss it. I hope I get some Christmas money. It really does last a long time. I think mine lasted 3 months. It smells subtle but really nice.

I love that hot pink sweater! I have one somewhere, I have to find it!
Shepherd’s pie, yum, I haven’t had that for ages! I will check out the recipe, now that I’ve learned that you link it! 😀
I love calendars! The girls always get a beauty calendar, Essence’s is the best and I managed to get it this year (I ordered it back in October)… And I got one for myself too… with jewellery from h&m… (cheap stuff, mind!)
Oh Target, I miss you! Look at that blanket! Look at those plates!
Favorites this week? Christmas spirit! For sure! Happy weekend, dear Amy!

Thank you! It’s fun because it’s so bright!
You should really try the shepherd’s pie. It’s not that hard and it was delicious!
That is a great idea to do a beauty version.
I know, right. I had a good time actually going in Target last Saturday.
Oh yes! 9 more days for me! You too!

I got my kiddos those advent calendars as well! Guitar one for Noah. He carried it out to the car- that’s as good as “cool! Thanks mom!” Kate exclaimed “YAAAAY!” When I handed hers to her. 😆

You can’t beat that price! They sell out quickly. That is definitely a good sign from our kids!

Those Christmas plates are really cute. And yes for Emily in Paris!! My favorite this week was having the house decorated for Christmas!

Thank you! They have been fun to have and so practical because they are just melamine. Yes – your house looks so festive!

I’m going to give the shepherd’s pie a try. Looks delicious! That is so fun that you got to see the jazz concert. I agree that smaller schools offer so much and are often overlooked. Grace loves her small university, and Jack is enjoying his mid-size school. Auburn may seem big, but it is so friendly that it has a smaller feel. And compared to our Tx state universities, it is only about 1/3 the size. Have a wonderful weekend.

I hope you do! It’s so good! Yes to small schools! My best friend’s daughter is at Auburn and it seems nice and small, too. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, too!
