It’s time to link up with the ladies here for Friday Favorites!

Here are some things that made my list of favorites this week…

I saw a recipe and I had all of the ingredients for…

Katharine Hepburn’s brownies. Did you know she had some brownies she was famous for? I didn’t either! These have hardly any flour in them so they are kind of more like a flourless chocolate cake.

So, now my sisters, Erica, and Elizabeth agree with Jen. The Truly Margarita pack is really good.

I think strawberry hibiscus is my favorite!

I was busy having fun this week. Tuesday I went to the adult pool with Erica and Elizabeth and it was so hot I stayed in the water on my float the whole time.

My lower sugar jam is also a hit! It is only lower by one cup and then I split the pectin between raspberries and strawberries this time. I might be putting the raspberry on brie and wrapping it in puff pastry or Crescent Roll dough soon…stay tuned!

I love working smarter and not harder. I made all the spaghetti and taco meat at the same time this week. I like to do this type of thing in the morning because I fade as the day goes on. Just knowing that the “hard” part of dinner is done really helps me around 5:00 pm or whenever I make dinner.

So, you know how these are my favorites. The chocolate is so rich that I really only need one.

Well, Tom loves these because they remind him of his favorite Graeter’s ice cream flavor – black raspberry chip!

I made a yummy hashbrown, veggie, Canadian bacon with egg bowl for one of my breakfasts this week:

I made teriyaki chicken bowls for one of our dinners:

I made burrito bowls with a side of chilaquiles for a dinner this week:

I am showing you my plates. I use cauliflower rice for me and regular rice for the others.

I had a cool lunch at a Venezuelan place this week. Johnna reached out to me a few years ago and said she was also a Spanish teacher in Kentucky and had found my blog. We have kept in touch and we finally got to meet because she was in town for a conference!

She was delightful and we could have talked for much longer!

We ordered yucca fries:

And, we each got an arepa. I got the vegetarian:

I arrived a bit early to shop in the cute little NULU area:

I love this area of town on the outskirts of our downtown.

And, I started watching Virgin River season 4. I’m really enjoying it so far!

And, I will leave you with this final favorite for this week. The look of pure joy on Ernie’s face when his Daddy gives him a belly rub. Doesn’t it look like he is smiling?

Ernie is going to be so sad when his people go back to campus and work. I wonder if all the dogs are thinking…”remember when my people were all home with me for a very long time and it was the best time of my life?”

What were your favorites this week?

Amy

  1. That pool looks amazing! I have been trying to get dinner prepped and started early in the morning too since I really don’t feel like cooking at all by the time dinnertime rolls around.

    1. It’s a really nice option that is just pay as you go for $10. I used to belong to a nice club, but it just doesn’t make sense for me anymore when I would use it probably once a week at the most. I actually was going to do a whole post on morning meal prep but I got lazy. Also, I didn’t know if it warranted a whole post! Have a wonderful weekend. Your trip looked amazing!

  2. You’ve given me two things to try this weekend- the Truly margaritas and those Dove minis! I haven’t ever seen them before, though I wasn’t looking for them, but I will be hitting my grocery today for both. I love the idea of the adult pool and good for you for floating/reading/sipping the whole time. I would be the exact same, though I like to float on a noodle so that I can stay submerged in the water. I think it’s genius to do all the meat cooking early in the day! I am the same, I get tired as the day progresses because of how early I’m up, but it’s also cooler in the mornings. I love your Ernie and love seeing dogs smile! It’s one of my favorite things. I hope your weekend is great, friend!

    1. Haha! So, I’m costing you money? Let me know what you think! I have one of those hammock floats so my whole body is in the water! I love a noodle, too! Meat is the hardest for me, so I love having the meat read to go. I enjoy the chopping and the preparing of the sides. Good point about using your kitchen while it’s cooler! What would we do without dogs?

  3. Brownies, that’s been a while! I think I will bake something similar, but I will be lazy and buy a mix in box… I put pieces of chocolate in it, yummy!
Oh Ernie, he IS the sweetest!
A silly favorite was that I ordered a bikini, hated it and wanted to send it back, put it on again the day after and really liked it….! Second favorite was the heat wave that struck us – I love hot weather! (As you know…)

    1. Great idea to add more chocolate. You can never have too much!
      He really is!
I’m glad you kept it! Sometimes that happens to me but not with bikinis! Lol!

    1. I hope you ordered a brush? I didn’t have one at first so it didn’t work as well for me. Be patient and learn how to do the Cheetah application. Pinterest has lots of info. Let me know what you think!

  4. I just bought the Truly margaritas last night and had one tonight :). The strawberry is my favorite too and then the lime. I added some frozen strawberries to the strawberry flavor and mixed in my blender to make it a little more of a frozen margarita. Have a good weekend!
