It’s time to link up here for another edition of Fashion Files. How is it Thursday already? That’s ok; I will take the days going by quickly right now.

Spring Fever has hit the school grounds – especially with my seniors. Ay!

The teachers in my district are pretty mad right now. Remember the bad weather day we had on April 14th where we had an unexpected day off due to downed power lines and blocked bus routes? We had school cancelled and they decided to forgive the day for the students. In fact, they are not making students make up two of our bad weather days this year, but teachers still have to work them, because they pay us for a set number of days – 187 to be exact. Well, someone decided to suggest that they make the teachers work on election day, May 17th. Some teachers counted on that day to have appointments, work the polls, or other things so they are mad that a last minute change would be made like this. The alternative is June 1, so I think I would rather work May 17th. But, let’s be honest…three days without students at the end of the year will most likely not be very productive. I try not to get too worked up about things like this, but sometimes I fail.

Ok, so let’s talk clothes…

This is what I wore for Senior Awards Night. I am department chair, so it usually falls on me to present awards. I wore an old LuLaRoe skirt with oranges, lemons, and flowers, consignment Evan Piccone pumps, an old Old Navy blouse, and my Walmart Scoop blazer. My blacks don’t exactly match. Do you get bothered by that?

Then, for Prom, I wore a super old dress from Kohl’s that is a pull over the head dress that has fit me at a few different sizes. The layers are kinda forgiving. I wore my Target clear heels and a light consignment sweater. I really don’t have any nicer wraps or anything but I needed something to go over the dress. The necklace is an Amazon purchase that was influenced by Melanie Shankle. I hadn’t had a chance to wear it yet. One must have an LBD that works for many different events, right?

Sunday for a happy hour in our friends’ yard, I wore my old Old Navy butterfly blouse, my Walmart Time and True black cut offs, and my Marc Fisher lace up gold sandals from last year. I have already gotten my $13.98 worth from both my black and pink shorts. I probably should have gone down a size, but they are fine.

And, the only blog worthy outfit I’ve worn to school this week…J.Crew jeans that are very high waisted. I really think I’m a mid-rise gal and that is what most of my jeans are. I bought these on major clearance a couple of years ago. They didn’t fit then, but I couldn’t return them because they were clearance. My blouse is by online boutique Shop.Set.Apart and my shoes are my Amazon Essentials. Unfortunately, my blouse is kind of messed up in the photo, but I love it. It arrived super fast and I really love the owner. She has no idea who I am, but she is a WW person and her sweet Dad just passed away. She has two adorable little girls. Give her boutique a look because I like to help nice people!

I do think this would be more flattering with a bit of a heel, but I was at school so needed to be practical. Yes, I do wear white jeans to school. I live on the edge.

Do you have a favorite outfit of mine?

What have you been wearing?

I’m still trying to wear all of my spring clothes and trying not to buy anything new until summer. I may cave if I find a good deal or something I just love.

Thanks for reading and be sure to check out the fashionable ladies in the link up!

  1. Guapa! (The only Spanish word I know! šŸ˜€ Well, cerveza too, don’t know why, I don’t like beer…). You look smashing in that colorful skirt with the black blazer (no I don’t mind the color difference) and for a day off I would happily wear that butterfly blouse with cut offs!
We have a cold spring this year (but sunny, thank you for that), so my dresses are still in the back of my wardrobe… This week I’ve gone for jeans and button down shirts, with my super cool converses (Run star hike platform – so cool!)

    1. Gracias! I’m impressed! You don’t like beer! What is your alcohol of choice? Thank you so much! I tell you what – I reach for cut offs everytime I’m not at school it seems. I looked those shoes up – you are too cool!

  2. Your outfits are all so good! I really like the awards outfit because, duh, blazer! But honestly everything is great. I have never owned black cut offs but I really like those. I actually have a pair coming from Walmart today. They are the No Boundaries brand and Wanda (Wanda Loves Sharing) recommended them. I can’t wait to try them!

    1. Well thank you. sweet friend! I actually might wear my pink blazer today with a palm print skirt. Love yours! I think you will be shocked by how much you reach for black cut offs. If they don’t work, try Time and True. Look at me recommending Walmart! Who am I? I feel like I’m learning to dress my body better. Old habits die hard!

  3. I think that I will be saving a lot of money this summer. I am not a fan of what is going on in summer fashion right…even from some of my tried and true brands, like J.Crew and Madewell. Not a fan of the poofs, crops, ruffles, smocking, etc. that is going on right now. None of it is flattering on me. I am sure I will find something I like….but looks like a money saving summer for me. šŸ™‚

    1. Aww thank you! I still haven’t bought any clothes since April 11! That isn’t very long for a normal person, but I love to shop – especially this time of year!

  4. These outfits all look great! The bold print skirt with black top + blazer is a terrific look; I think the differing shades of black just add depth to the look and don’t bother me at all. “Mismatched” black items just aren’t something I worry about unless it’s *supposed* to be a matching suit!

    1. P.S. After the last couple of especially tough years, you’d think they’d give teachers a break for that one day. Working on Election Day is ridiculous, and working an extra day after kiddos are out is even more ridiculous! (My dad was a teacher, now retired.)

    2. Thank you, Sally! I love a solid top and a printed bottom. I think it works best for my body type because I am top heavy. Good point! I won’t worry!

  5. Love the blazer outfit! So cute! My blacks do not have to match. I purchased my 5th item for my 12 in 2022. a pair of Abercrombie + Fitch denim jeans. Taylor had them on a couple weeks ago and I loved the fit on her. I am over skinny jeans. These are the Mom high rise curvy love. Bought on Poshmark, No distressing. They were not NWT but they are in perfect shape and they are $90 online and I offered her $34 and she accepted. They arrived in 2 days and I LOVE THEM! So now I am looking for another pair on PM. I dont normally buy from PM…I sell there though! I have gotten rid of so many Athleta tees I had. Tay told me they were sloppy looking and she was right. So they are off to the thrift store. I am sure proud of myself for having only bought 5 things so far. I do need some new cute tees though (since I just donated 8!) so I dont think I will hit the 12 in 22. I think it will be more like 22 items in 2022! hahaha but who knows. Have a great rest of the week. Its almost MAY!

    1. Thank you! I am trying to really work my closet without buying new! It’s so hard! This is my favorite time to buy, but I’m so busy right now and I know I will enjoy shopping this summer. It’s ok – not a big deal in the scheme of things. I did get a bonus day off!
