It is time to link up here for Friday Favorites!

My first favorite it that it is FRIDAY! And, we are supposed to get some snow overnight – Say what?

My second favorite is that it is Daylight Savings Time change weekend! Are you ready to “spring forward”? I am!

Another really big favorite..

we were allowed to remove the mask yesterday! It just kinda came about all of a sudden in my district. It may seem silly or that it is such a small thing, but it feels huge to me. I had not taught in person without a mask since March 13, 2020. That is two calendar years and a really long time.

It was so fun seeing full faces! I had some fun with a senior:

Hello, old friends:

Now I can wear bigger earrings and lipstick to work. Now I can breathe!

I changed up my home mani this week:

I forgot to show/tell you, but I bought two bundles of the $1.99 daffodils at Trader Joe’s last weekend and I added them to these cool vases I found for 70% off at Meijer. I got a wild hair and added green food coloring to the water.

New favorite flavor of sparkling water…

La Croix passionfruit!

My sister did a cute gel polish and sent me this pic:

I think I will do alternating green and white for St. Patrick’s Day?

I did something crazy to keep myself motivated and kinda as a reward for my health journey…

Sun Tany City spray tan:

Awkward photo of my legs:

And, even more shocking…I went to the gym at 5:00 a.m. everyday this week. I knew it was time to add this and it has been really nice, but I’m a little sore. I am not exactly sure what my routine will be but this week I did legs one day, upper body the next, cardio only the next, then back to legs, then upper body. I am still walking after school, too.

This week I did Sunday at 7:00 a.m., and then Monday-Thursday. I think I will do Monday-Thursday and take Friday morning off. I’m not sure yet. I felt it important to do it everyday this week to start the habit off well. I think an every other day plan would have made it easier to just not do it.

Peep Tom in the white shirt:

He goes at 5:00, too. It’s a no frills gym really close to our house.

And, lastly, I want to say that I tried my cheap silk pillowcase from Amazon again and it’s made a huge difference in how my hair looks in the morning. It keeps it really smooth. I hope it’s keeping my face smooth, too. Honestly, I prefer a “cooler” feeling pillow, but I can sacrifice because of the benefits I’m seeing with my hair.

What were your favorites this week? I hope you had many!

Happy Weekend,

Amy

  1. Yay you on adding working out into your new lifestyle! That’s wonderful. I try to mix up what I do with my workouts each day too partly to work all areas of my body and partly so I don’t get bored. Your nails look fabulous! I had completely forgotten that we turn the clocks this weekend… which must mean that Alec starts track next week.

    1. Thank you! I have tried working out at home and I am just not very successful with it. I wish I could. Thank you! I want to find a nice green and do an alternating mani. Our track team has been practicing for a while. We walk with them on our school track and I think they like seeing us out there!

  2. You look amazing! And great job going to the gym- honestly I don’t know where you get all that energy.
Love the daffodils in green water, I will have to try that.

My current fave is “Good and Gather Indian Style Sweet Potato Curry Vegetable Blend” from Target- I made it with shrimp and the yogurt/flour naan from WW-it was a great meal so thought I’d share.

    Happy Friday!

    1. Thank you, sweet friend! It was rough, but it felt great to start my day that way. I don’t think the green water hurt them and I like it. The flowers at Trader Joe’s are so awesome.
I will have to look at Target for that. I am not the big curry fan that you are, though! I think Target has some interesting frozen products that Kroger doesn’t carry. Did you order from the WW website? I haven’t done that. Walmart also has a lot of different items.
      You too!

  3. Yay you going to the gym at 5am! I swear it is the best habit I have and gets my day started off right. We used to have a spray tan place close by and I loved it – it’s so nice to get that all over color.
I love your sister’s nails for St. Patrick’s Day!
    Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you! I think the key for me is not letting myself read blogs or have coffee until I have done the gym. I hope I don’t get too hooked on this spray tan thing because it’s expensive, but it sure does make a difference! You too!

    1. My lips were way drier under the mask? I had to remind myself to put lip stuff on. Some of our kids are so broken out where they have worn a mask and air couldn’t reach.

  4. Good job with adding the gym to your routine. And good news about the masks. I’m so happy that Grace’s school is removing the mandate after spring break. Have a wonderful weekend!

  5. I LOVE your mask less photo (& shout out to lipstick and big earrings. You are so funny 🙂 Awesome job working out. That’s amazing. I’ve been making it work in the evenings but starting in April I will have to do some mornings. I hope you have a great weekend.

    1. Thank you! It was euphoric! I was so happy! They came out of their shells, too! I do have several still wearing masks or wearing them in the halls and taking them off for part of class? That is fine – I think the key word is that mandate was removed and now it is your choice.
Thank you! It felt great! It only hurts as you are getting out of bed and into your car, right? My Dad always used to say the hardest part of working out was stepping out the door. He was a big runner and ran everyday from age like 35-76 – rain or shine, snow, etc.

      1. Wow! That’s amazing about your dad. And so true, you never regret working out. It’s just the getting up part. My dad always said “it’s easier to stay in shape than get back into shape.” And I try to remember that 🥴

  6. Way to go on the gym at 5 am! It is my goal to workout at 5 every day but I fall of the wagon by Wednesday or Thursday. One of my coworkers loves lipstick. I saw her putting lipstick on for the first time in 2 years and it brought me so much joy!! It’s so nice to see smiles at school again!! Woohoo!! Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you! I get that – by Wednesday or Thursday the week has caught up to you and you are tired! But, the saying to never miss a Monday is a great one and I am thinking of doing Monday – Thursday with Friday off. Then, I can do one weekend day at my leisure. I love lipstick, too! The main place I wear it is to work, so that was a nice treat! I am so happy! It made such a difference to be able to use my whole face – lol! You too!

  7. Lipstick! And matching the hot pink blazer with your lips – smashing!
I applaud you for going to the gym, that’s a habit that I can really miss sometimes! I worked in the fitness industry for 25 years, but when I “retired” I really retired… So no gym for me, but I do have some barbells and stuff at home. 😀

    1. Aww thank you, Swedish fan club president! It was a bit rough, but I liked it – if that makes sense. That is amazing that you spent 25 years in the industry.
