Life lately has been busy.  It’s mostly all good, but this is a busy season of life.

I have not been good about a regular grocery day, nor have I done grocery pick up since this summer when my order went terribly wrong.  I have been visiting the grocery more than I would like due to poor planning on my part!

So, this week I ordered from Instacart in the morning before school and my groceries were delivered that day after school!  I had a meeting after school and set my time up for between 4:00 and 5:00 and  think it came at 4:15.  I think it was only 50 cents more than pick up, you guys!  Life changing!  I did tip, but still!  I think I could’ve gotten the groceries as soon as 3 hours after placing the order.  I will definitely use this service again.

Unfortunately, I still had to put the groceries away and then cook the food.

My sister made “feetloaf” this week and I thought it was so cute.  I thought I would show you in case you have small kids that would like this!

The night before the Instacart delivery, I got take out for the family from McAllister’s because I had no dinner foods.  I sat outside and read my book while I waited.  I always look for little pockets of time for things that bring me joy like reading.  This book is really cute!

My field trip was Monday.  It was really fun!  But, it is so much work to plan and execute a field trip.  I think the kids really enjoyed and appreciated it so that made it worthwhile.  We saw a performance called “Latin American Fiesta” which had singing, dancing, costumes, and history of the Spanish speaking world.

I forgot to mention that over the weekend I finished this book.  I really liked the story.  The intimate scenes are pretty detailed, but I highly recommend this book if you need an easy chick lit read.

Here is a picture from the Ironman a couple of weeks ago.  This is my college roommate and her husband was the one who participated in it.

My husband watched him cross the finish line around 8:00 p.m. but I was home getting ready for the week ahead because it was on Sunday.

Mason has a college visit today and gets to attend a class and meet a professor again!  I am really excited for him.

Jack is getting ready to do a play called “45 Plays for 45 Presidents” in November with school and “Pride and Prejudice” in January with his community theatre.  He is going to be busy from now until January and then hopefully he will make the school musical.

Both boys are doing great in school.  One son has 5 AP classes and the other has 4.

Mason is back on the quick recall team which is our academic team.  I watched his matches yesterday and last week.  Both boys did this in 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.  I guess Mason has come full circle and finishing out high school with this again.

Jack is going to guitar club after school some weeks.  How fun is that?

Mason retired from debate team after last year.  He learned a lot but it had run its course.

What has life been like lately for you?

  1. Okay, hold the phones – is that your husband smiling? Wow! We need to see more of that!
I remember those days with the boys – all the AP courses, all the events. It is exhausting! Glad you got your groceries delivered – such a super idea.

    1. Haha! He looks so good when he smiles and he does so in person quite frequently! He just has trouble smiling for photos as do all the men in his family! It’s weird!
This year will go down as the most exhausting I think but I want to soak it up and be present. And I am trying to go with it which is sometimes hard for me!

  2. I haven’t tried Instacart but I often get ideas for what I want to make while in the store, so I haven’t ordered groceries online in a while either.
Field trips are SO much work! I used to do an overnight one with 4th graders in Alaska and it took most of the year, doing bits and pieces at a time, to plan.

    1. I think Instacart might be really nice for the winter! But you also may need to get out and it’s good for kids to learn at the grocery in my opinion.
I can’t even imagine how much work an overnight would be. When I took kids to Mexico the company did most of the work!

  3. Oh no, you had to had to put the groceries away and then cook the food…! 😀 How come that wasn’t included!? lol
I love to do field trips, but I don’t do stay-overs… My school does it now and then but I have told my principal firmly that I will not do that. There are always colleagues that love stay-overs for some reason! Myself, I need to be at home, sweet home!
Well, life is absolutely ok, I’m off next week, so who am I to complain!? But… the weather/climate is taking its toll, you have to put a lot of energy into bringing light into your life!

      1. No, it’s not winter! 😀 It’s actually quite warm for the season, 57°F believe it or not.
It’s “fall break”, all Swedish schools have it. But most schools have 3 days of professional development where the teachers have to be present in school, but we don’t have to thankfully. I will be at home listening to the podcast that you kindly shared with me!
