Wow!  How is it already Friday?  This week went by so fast for me.  This was our first week with all 4 of us at home and no “extra” people so that was nice to be just the four of us for the first time since before my son left for debate camp.

Today I’m linking up with Momfessionals, The Slaughters, and Grace and Love to share my Friday Favorites.

We have eaten dinner at home every night as a family so tonight I’m ready for a break from cooking.  I must admit that one night we had a weird variety of frozen Trader Joe’s foods and a new to me salad from Lisa from Coast to Coast blog.  It was basically just cucumber, avocado, dill, lemon juice, and feta and it was good!  I’m starting to get in a rut with my summer cooking, so if you are, too, check out yesterday’s post where I linked up and talked about meal ideas here.  I got some great ideas from the other people who linked up here with Sparkles and Lattes and others.

Favorite #1)

The name of my blog does involve coffee, so I wanted to do a quick update and tell about a new coffee related favorite.  Last summer I was able to ditch any type of sweetener in my coffee and solely rely on my beloved creamer below.  It does have a small amount of sugar, but I’m careful to measure my creamer portion and I just love this stuff.  I love, love, love the Costco Kirkland Breakfast Blend K cup.  But, I made a new discovery.  I’m loving the Kroger brand Hazelnut.  I have one of each every morning lately.

Favorite #2)

I’m not a brand snob, but I love a quality product and especially in something I use every day.  Gretchen Rubin of The Happiness Project really influenced me years ago when she wrote in her book that you should “spend out” for something that can bring you happiness on a daily basis because you use it so much.  Example:  buy the good pens if that matters to you and if you use pens often like I do.  It really makes a difference in your everyday quality of life.

So, that was a long introduction to say I really love my two Yeti cups.  The first is for my water and it was a gift from my husband’s company to him, but he gave it to me because they also gave him a larger one that he uses.  I love water so much and I love ice in my water.  I purchased two monogram stickers from Etsy – one for this one and one for my coffee Yeti that I use at work.  It keeps my coffee hot for hours.  Disclaimer:  the small Yeti doesn’t fit in my car cup holder.

Favorite #3)

I like to eat seasonally and I like to read seasonally.  You know – books that are set in a tourist location or that take place in the summer.  This is cute so far, but I will warn you that the writing is a little “cheesy”.  I can’t think of a better word for it, but a conversation will come up in the book and it makes me think that was dumb or unnecessary.  I hope that makes sense.  Chime in if you agree?

Favorite #4)

One of my sons and I are watching Big Brother.  It is silly, but we are really getting a kick out of the dynamics involved.  And, if you have teenagers, you know that anything that you can do one on one is super special.

Favorite #5)

The other son is attending acting camp this week and I’m enjoying the one on one time in the car with him.  Last week, he jumped into a pool with his cell phone in his pocket and it died on him.  He was very apologetic and didn’t complain or ask for a new phone.  My husband surprised him with a replacement phone Wednesday (used and an old model) and he was very grateful.

Favorite #6)

I don’t think I was familiar with the term “yacht rock” until recently and I’ll be honest, I’m still not sure what it means.  If you are around my age – mid 40s, you will love this Spotify channel.  I found my husband’s bluetooth speaker and I’ve been playing this a lot this week.  I’ve heard songs that reminded me of 3rd grade and a particular friend when we went to her mom’s beauty shop after school!  Ha!

Favorite #7)

Hey, it isn’t perfect but it was free  – this is my recent OPI mani with “Let’s be friends”.  I have had this for maybe two years and it was hard to find at the time.  It is the perfect white/pink shade.  This is normal OPI, but going forward, I’m going to try to only buy Infinite Shine by OPI.  I purchased “Strawberry Margarita” and I will do that color next.

Favorite #8)

I wrote about how to wear white without fear here, but admitted I didn’t have many white tops.  I picked up this white cute detailed short sleeve top at Old Navy when doing back to school shopping for my boys.  It is a kind of thick terry cloth-ish material and it was $17.  I have already worn it.

Favorite #9)

I also picked up these olive green athletic pants at Old Navy for $23.  I really like this material and I plan to wear them as normal pants.

I picked up several shirts and jeans for the boys and didn’t spend more than $10 on any item.  It says I saved almost as much as I spent.

Favorite #10)

I just saw this trailer and it comes out August 15!  I read the book as I’m sure many of you did and can’t wait to see the movie!

Favorite #11)

These sunglasses!  I had these in my cart to purchase when my hub told me he had these from the 80s or 90s.  They’re mine, now! Thanks, hub!

Favorite #12)

O.k., I also did some back to school shopping for me.  I love these flowy pants and found them at Steinmart.

Favorite #13)

So Prime Day Monday was a bust for me.  There wasn’t anything I needed or wanted that was part of the promotion, so because I saved money… I ordered this dress for $17ish dollars.  There are several different colors.  I haven’t worn it yet, but I love the fabric.  It is a nice cool non wrinkle fabric.  I ordered it in the black floral already.  I also saved money because I didn’t shop the Nordstrom sale.  Girl math again, people!

Final Favorite)

I started enjoying sparkling water last summer, so I guess it makes sense that I also like these new to me spiked seltzers.  My sister told me about Truly and it’s good. I can also vouch for the other three.  Now, I will warn you, they are very light and they aren’t very sweet.  You probably need to like regular seltzer to like these.  I took these on our boat and our friends’ boat and they were perfect.

Happy, Happy Friday if you have stayed with me this long!  I love reading Friday Favorites and have seriously gotten the best recommendations from other bloggers!

What are you up to this weekend?  I’m hoping to go to an outdoor concert with food trucks Friday from 6-8, a Blues and BBQ Festival Saturday for a bit, a boat ride, and a movie.  This is pretty ambitious, but I feel that I have to squeeze out the last bits of summer!

See ya Monday!

  1. This is such a great round up! I don’t know where to start! Ha! You got some great pieces for yourself, I looked at that dress on Amazon but wasn’t sure I could pull it off with my big chest, you have me rethinking! Love your nail color too and those sunglasses are fab on you!
    Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Try the dress! It runs true to size. I sized down in the army green and will wear with a long vest or kimono. I ordered the black floral in my normal size so I can hopefully wear it alone. The material is great. Thank you! I had fun shopping for myself this week – it had been a few!

  2. Wow!! So much to like! I feel you on wanting to read/eat/watch TV that is in season. I’m like that as well and we’ve done some “Trader Joe” freezer dinners too! I love the nail polish color and those fun pants from Steinmart. Steinmart is one of my favorite places to shop- so many treasures there! Have a great weekend 🙂 🙂

    1. Thanks! No one ever talks about Steinmart in the blogworld! I don’t go there often because I don’t think about it. I will admit that I was there at 10 am on a Wednesday and I was younger than any other shopper by a good 20 years! Lol! Those pants are the perfect teacher pants! Trader’s has very good frozen items and you don’t worry as much about ingredients I think.
      Happy weekend!

  3. Your new white top and the olive dress are lovely! They make such a great colour combo together as well (with your new trousers). You really suite the Raybans too – can’t go wrong with a classic pair of aviators! Good for you cutting back on the sugar! Know how hard it is with creamer though – that was what everyone used in Belgium and I got hooked too – it is very delicious! Hope you have a lovely weekend – Joanne x

    1. Thank you! I hit the shops a little too much this week! I love the black aviators and maybe I’m just gearing up for Top Gun 2!
I don’t know what I will do if they stop making my creamer!
Glad you are feeling well. One of my boys has a gaming PC. He asked for a gaming chair for Christmas from my parents and he loves it.
Sorry I haven’t commented yet on your post – busy am so far!

  4. Are we related? I swear you and I have share the same vibes on things, lady! I have FETI cups and they are my jam. (F for Fake Yeti – the Ozark Trail ones from Walmart are amazeballs.) My kid is getting a gently used iPad with her own money this weekend. She had to save for it she wanted a phone and I said no (she’s ten) so she has worked and saved her money for an iPad. Gotta raise up a generation, right? The nail polish is the perfect color! Really it brings out that nice tan. My Prime Day was a bust too – I got nothing. That dress is really cute – go you! I’m off to check out your food post. Have a terrific weekend. We get rain.

    1. Haha! That’s great! I would totally use a Feti but my Yeti was free! I have heard that! Get ya a monogram sticker from Etsy!
My boys didn’t get an iPhone til 15th bday. They did have laptops but no iPad. Kids appreciate things more when they work for it – good job. I have two 10 year old nieces so I know that age. Just think – we saved so much money on Prime Day that we deserve something else!
Good luck with your car situation!

  5. You had me at coffee! I love that tumbler. I love my yeti too. I need a coffee cup size one. I also love the monogram. What a great list of favorites. That top and those pants, super cute. I also love the maxi dress. We are loving Big Brother. I am just glad that Swaggy went home…and Rockstar…the names are killing me this season…also did the two bro’s ever wear shirts? Ha! Happy Friday!

    1. I would put a monogram on everything if I could! Haha! Thank you! Big brother is so silly but fun! I think we are still one episode behind but no they never wear shirts! My 15 yo son’s observations make it so fun!
