How is it October? September was a full month of reading where I had to read inside in the AC for the better part of the month because this September was hot!
I really enjoyed The Shippers and the premise. I think you could read this any time of year. I think this would make a really cute Netflix movie.

Oh, gosh, this book was sad but I also liked it. How is that for a review? I love any book with a Paris setting so I am a sucker for “Paris” in a title.

This was cute! I have enjoyed all of Emily Giffin’s books.

I ordered this off of Amazon and while some might find the advice to be common sense or something they have heard before, I really enjoyed reading it. I read it the same week Dolly Parton died and I felt very empowered by this book and by my deep dive into Dollyisms. I also got to attend the book launch party. The author is the mom of Jack Harlow, rapper, but more importantly, Clay his brother and my former student and I got to see him and another former student.

I didn’t end up finishing this book because I knew where it was going. It was ok.

This book was cute and had its moments but it’s not one that will stand out.

STOP EVERYTHING! STOP SCROLLING!
These are the books I didn’t know I needed. Beth Brower wrote them in 2019 so I am not sure why all of a sudden I started seeing them on many different platforms. She is also the writer of The Queen’s Gambit which was made into a show and I watched the show without knowing it was first a book.
There are 8 volumes written in journal style by the main character Emma M. Lion. Emma is hilarious and a single lady in 1883 London. The ninth volume is set to come out in February. I don’t often buy books but I ordered the first four volumes off of Amazon and requested the rest from the library. I may have to break down and order more since they are on major waiting lists at my library, too. See their new popularity?

After reading three, I started worrying about going too fast so I read this cute book about a Korean matchmaking family. I really liked it and read it in about 3 days.

How did I miss this Fiona Ferris book? I ordered it to get ready for fall!

I can’t believe I have finally recorded my reading here. I still don’t have any sort of rating system but I will be excited to have an official count by end of year. I also plan to name my favorites. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies and I have loved reading since I was a child. My mom would make fun of me not hearing anything else if my “nose was in a book”. I was the first to read in my kindergarten class and read “Go Dog Go” to my classmates. My favorite childhood series was The Boxcar Children.
If I had to say my favorites from the year right now I would say:
The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion
Calamity Club
Mad Mabel
This Book Made Me Think of You
Have you read any of the same books I read? Anything you are excited to read?
Amy
I haven’t read any of the books that you read but I felt very “Amy” by picking out several fiction books from the library and reading actual books. I can’t tell you how odd it is to be not reading from my Kindle! I mean, I read from my Kindle as well but I read four, I think, actual books.

Haha! That’s great! I still get a rush from having a stack of books just like I did at age 5. I don’t have a Kindle anymore but I might get one in the future.

Yeah, I am waiting (probably a few months) for Emma M Lion to come in through my local library. It’s funny how some books take quite some time before they become really popular. It sounds like you’ve been reading lots of great books.

That’s so frustrating! I bought the first 4 volumes = $40 and they are cute on my mantel now but I am trying to avoid buying the rest!
I have had a good reading spell!

That’s an impressive list! I would still like to read Calamity Club. Lately the only time I get to read is when I can’t sleep – and that has happened quite a bit. I have read several books mostly the freebies from Prime each month.

You’ve had a great time of reading! I ordered the first three of the journals on Amazon, for my Kindle. They were on sale in a bundle, so thanks for the rec! I started the first one, but I want to finish my current read first. I need that Fiona fall reset book! I’m going to look for it now. Thank you!
