How was your weekend? I’m linking up with Sarah and Holly to share about mine and my words will be brief because I am writing this much later than I normally do. You will see the difference between morning blogger Amy and evening blogger Amy. Some of you are thinking “finally she won’t be so wordy”.
Friday night we ate dinner at Mojito with our friends. When in Rome…you must order a mojito there. They are sooo good!
I got a grilled fish sandwich and left off most of the bread; it’s a lot!
It finally rained! Yay! It rained both Friday night and Saturday morning.
You guys – I am in a Emma M. Lion vortex and so happy about it. The wait list was too long at the library so I ordered it on Amazon. Then, I quickly ordered the next two volumes of the nine volume series. I believe the ninth comes out in February. They are written as journal entries and set in 1883. It’s a bit of a Bridgerton or Gilded Age vibe but the journal writer, Emma, is hilarious in her observations.
I made myself the most delicious breakfast burrito Saturday and browned the outside. I need to do that again!
Then, I took myself on a mission to get some food for the day and to get a graphic tee at Old Navy. I wanted the witches hat!
Then, I got dressed for a celebration of life and picked up my friend Victoria and we went together to our teaching friend’s husband’s service. We all taught together 26 years ago.
I was starving and stopped by our new Jersey Mike’s and that would be my late lunch and dinner it turned out!
I put some game day snacks/dinner together later for Tom but I couldn’t eat anything else.
We watched the UK game late because Tom was gone some of the afternoon, too.
And, Sunday morning I made Mix and Match Mama’s apple cobbler and it was a hit at the family event we took it to…
We drove about an hour and a half to Tom’s cousin’s house for a family get together.
Her house is gorgeous and overlooks Kentucky farmland and we had a low country boil…
Look how she prepped the pats of butter for the corn with the corn holders:

And, look at this forecast…
I will take the rain for those temps!

Coffee and Cocktails at the Casa 
That sounds like such a lovely weekend! The family get together looks absolutely wonderful. We got some rain again yesterday but it was much needed so we didn’t mind at all. The witches hat shirt is really cute. I had taken Evan and 2 of his friends to the movies on Saturday and I spent the hour and half or so that they were watching to explore the shopping are and while I didn’t really buy much of anything (a couple of books and 2 pairs of fuzzy fleece lined socks), I did have fun trying on quite a few things in a few of the stores.

It was really nice! Yes to rain! I thought it was cute and I am enjoying a graphic tee with cardigan look – or I will be when it cools down. That’s so fun! Sometimes I love window shopping to see what’s even out there!

It looks like a nice weekend! Your time with friends and family sounds fun- the property/views are stunning. I often brown the tortillas after I fill them, especially if I’m doing a breakfast burrito- so good! We had a bunch of rain over the weekend and there’s more in the forecast but also there are cool temps in the forecast so we’re all excited over here :).

It was! I think browning it and making it a little crispy is a game changer. I didn’t do that when I was taking the burritos to work. We didn’t have a bunch but a little bit and I am hoping for a lot more this week. Yes!

That charcuterie board is amazing! Sounds like you had a great weekend – how clever to prep the pats of butter like that. Some people are so creative and thoughtful.

My sister-in-law has learned to make a professional board and I think all of her elements are Trader Joe’s. It was a nice and full weekend. They are!

The family get together looks like a great time and beautiful location. What a pretty pool! I am taking note of the butter prep too. We are supposed to cool off some this week and we’re ready. The heat has been crazy these past couple of weeks especially. I haven’t read the book series but will look for it as it sounds like one I’d enjoy. Have a nice week!

Thank you! We drove through Lexington and the construction and traffic was so bad! We stopped at a Costco off Man o’ War (I think) for gas and I thought of you. The cousin’s house is in Richmond. I can’t either! Oh to put on a cardigan!

I will put one of the Emma M. Lion books on hold and see what I see lol. I am struggling to read lately!

That’s how they get you! Lol! Call me crazy, but I like the look of a seasonal graphic tee with a cardigan? Maybe I will look like a big nerd. I wasn’t impressed with the clothing once again other than their graphic tees. I like that they are cut shorter and not like a men’s tee. They are also super soft. I looked at my fall and winter things and I probably don’t need anything else. I still like a lot of what I have.
It might take you a long time to get Emma. The first volume is only 100 pages. Give it some time to get into but then I think you might be amused. I am now almost done with Volume 2 sadly!
My SIL makes a very professional charcuterie and they had the Bengals on – you probably hate them.

What a great weekend…with the exception of the memorial for your friend’s husband. This is the one you recently told me about, right? I’m glad you went for her. I love the witch’s hat tee shirt from ON! I confess that I went and looked at it as soon as I saw it on you, but I don’t know if I’ll purchase it; I never love how tees look on me. That Kentucky farmland is gorgeous, and so was the outside living area. What a nice afternoon! I laughed over the later in the day Amy versus morning Amy…I feel that. Ha! Happy Monday, friend. xoxo

Thank you – but you know it was important to “show up”. She was the one I talked about several weeks ago. She took a leave of absence from teaching because he was put on hospice. She is going back after fall break. He was only 50. Her house was full of meaningful memorabilia from his career and hobbies and a full 50 years of life.
I have decided that I like how the tees look better with a cardigan over but I try to buy them a bit bigger because of my chest and they are just fun and comfortable and feel like me. If you haven’t tried these tees, they are more made for a woman’s body. I hate how a man’s cut looks on me and never wore the school issued shirts if I could help it.
It was a gorgeous setting to build their house. The inside was gorgeous, too, but I didn’t take many photos.
Ha – yes – very different person when she is tired.

Looks like you had a nice weekend! I need to try Mix and Match Mama’s cobbler recipe. Anything easy to throw together is always nice! So tired today. Got home at 1 am from Naples Florida after seeing my daughter. ☺️ The late flight home was worth the time spent with her!

I was hearing today about the heatwave that Colorado had in August and September and I think we are all better off when it isn’t so hot. Thankfully, we have all survived the official end of summer today! Your Sunday looked wonderful with the views, food and family.

The pool and charcuterie boards look so good. Lucky you with the weather. We are going to drop to 70 in the mornings this weekend and I’m very happy about that. I’m often a last minute blogger and that’s why my posts are kind of stream of consciousness. 😀
