I first heard of these posts from Kristin! These are things I just don’t get that others seem excited about! Now, with that being said – to each their own. People probably don’t like the things I like. That’s what keeps life interesting! I hope this makes you laugh and know that we can still be blog friends, okay? Sound off in the comments about what you just don’t “get”!

Alcoholic soft serve – it’s way too cold for me and you have to “eat it”. My sister said it has to be soooo cold because of the alcohol having to stay frozen. I literally felt like my tongue was burning. I think I got “tongue burn”. I am glad I tried it but it’s not for me.

Hey Dudes shoes – these are the ugliest shoes I have ever seen and there is nothing feminine about them. I don’t even like them on literal dudes. “Hey Dude, your shoes are ugly!”

Tall Tables – maybe it’s because I’m on the shorter side. I feel like I’m mounting a horse. I am not graceful. My legs dangle. This stranger appears to be more skilled in the art of a tall table.

This place only had tall tables.

Sushi as a meal – I would like one or two pieces as an appetizer, but I really don’t want to eat sushi as my meal. This is a new epiphany for me.

Beaver gas stations – it’s still a gas station. I don’t get it. I don’t enjoy a gas station for my shopping. I pump my gas, buy nothing else, and leave. I will admit that I have never visited a beaver gas station. Now, I am an encourager of more fun and whimsy in your life, so if this is your fun and your whimsy, go for it! But now that I heard about the situation in Beavercreek, Ohio with the big beaver suing the little beaver I will boycott the big beaver. You can’t trademark all the beavers. That’s just not right. Beavercreek, Ohio has more right to all the beavers in their business names than the Big Beaver Corporation!

Buying/ Using disposable water bottles – I think the water tastes bad and I don’t enjoy having plastic to recycle. It’s a huge waste of money and so bad for the environment. Plus, the sound they make when they are empty and being crushed is horrible to me. I was a teacher during the “flip the water bottle” phase and it was horrible. I also had someone crushing a plastic water bottle during many lessons. Some schools are now banning metal water bottles. I do get that. We had a major girl fight at my school where the two girls used Stanley cups as weaponry.

Paying $$$$$ to go to concerts – you are still so far away, and the performers look like ants, and you have to watch on a video screen anyway. Give me a smaller venue and I guess a lesser-known artist.

I saw this on social media recently:

Amazon clothes – I have had very little success. I have figured out that I need to not be super cheap on Amazon to get something good – like $30 or more. I would say an exception would be Amazon Essentials tanks and tees. I have loved that line. Otherwise, most Amazon clothing is impulse for me and ends up being returned. And, why do their brands have such weird names like “Anrabess” and “Ekouear”?

Drive thru coffee – I don’t do it much anymore so maybe that’s why the price including a tip is shocking to me now. I don’t really enjoy the paper cup or anything about the drive thru coffee experience. I usually spill it, too.

Extreme online shopping – I love getting a package in the mail, but when I have packages coming every day or several days in a row, I feel kind of gross. I don’t like what it does to me as a person. I track, I stalk, I stay home and wait for my packages. I cancel plans. Just kidding!

Outlet malls – I think they used to be better than they are now. The last time I went to one, the prices didn’t seem discounted at all. I have heard that some brands make a specific line of clothing to be sold at outlet malls.

Packing cubes – I have them. I have the compression type. I can’t seem to make them work for me. I am a roller. I roll my clothing. I feel like the cubes need a certain amount of space and rolled clothes can fit better.

Social Media Usage Between Couples – I hate when a couple shares a social media account “BenandLynn Jones”. Why? I hate when a couple holds a conversation in the comments. Don’t y’all live together? I hate public posts that could have been private. Who are you putting on a show for?

AI signs and AI photos – There is an AI template, and everyone is using it for flyers or signs. I looked for an example but couldn’t find one to share. Wardrobe Oxygen talked about why she never ate breakfast at her hotel on a recent trip. The AI poster was horrible. I couldn’t find her photo again, but the AI generated bacon looked like an animal tongue. She said it totally turned her off. Let’s use our noggins, people!

I have seen some people use AI photos of themselves on social media and act like it’s a normal photo. I just saw you in real life and you don’t look like that. I guess filters are ok, but AI just bothers me in this way.

What is an unpopular opinion of yours?

  1. Fun post to read! Agree with many of these- Amazon clothes- NO! Though I do like about two clothing purchases I’ve made from them. The last one was a tennis skirt that I decided I wanted two days before a trip and didn’t want to shop in a store so I turned to Amazon. I do like the skirt but it has one of those weird brand names like you mentioned. Expensive concert tickets at a huge venue- No, thanks! I think it’s to buy the $125 sweatshirt that says you were there? And post about it on SM? Buc-ee’s is silly, ridiculous, kitschy and I liked it before they went after the Beaver Mart in Beavercreek. I don’t like it when Christians curse- it’s trendy now to sound like everyone else with regard to speech. Trendy but quite un-Biblical. I don’t like it when anyone “hard” curses. You know, certain words that are super overused by some as both a verb, a noun, a modifier. I’m sure I have many more unpopular opinions but it’s like 4:20 AM. Or should I say it’s, 4 $&#@ 20 AM?

    1. I do like your tennis skirt! I think my athletic leggings from Amazon were good, too. They were my first with pockets! I don’t like cursing, either. It just sounds so tacky. I hardly ever say a bad word anymore. Lack of school influence has helped. Lol. Yes, you will have more unpopular opinions as your day goes on. I am really anxious to hear about how your job is going and what it is!

  2. I’d say I pretty much agree with most of them! Well you know I don’t get the alcohol or coffee thing at all (frozen, not frozen.. yuck! LOL). I have no idea what Beaver gas stations are.. Hey Dudes are ugly and I don’t like tall tables either; they need more rungs on their chairs or something because I need a place for my feet to rest if not on the floor. I don’t get sushi at all– raw fish? Yeah, I’ll pass thanks. But I do have pretty good luck clothes shopping on Amazon.

    1. Yes, that is true – the alcohol makes the ice cream taste bad to me. Just have regular ice cream. And, I’m sorry but I love coffee so much…
      Exactly – my legs dangle.
I prefer the sushi with just vegetables and then is it really sushi?

  3. AI stuff all look like cartoons to me. I stopped ordering from Amazon after learning they’re on track to firing a million employees, replacing them with AI. As for the odd clothing labels, they are massed produced clothes from china with no real brand, ultra cheap so they get maximum profits. Often made by slave labor. Unfortunately Amazon has turned into an amoral, predatory entity. I didn’t shed too many tears when that Iranian ballistic missile blasted their AI Center in Bahrain!

    1. Exactly! It’s horrible!
      Oh, I hate that.
Yes, you are so right about the brands. I really, really try to shop locally if I can and second hand if I can. I am trying to get away from fast fashion but I do get pulled in more than I would like. I won’t order from Shein or Temu, though.

  4. yes, to Amazon clothing, AI generated flyers and everyone posting their life on social media. My most recent experience was on Monday. The transmission needed replaced in my 2015 Lexus with 172,000 miles. We decided to trade. I was at a dealership and my sales lady had on daisy duke shorts. When did we lose respect for ourselves? After the sale, she wanted to take my picture with the suv and post it. NO !!!

    1. Right? Oh my gosh – Daisy Dukes? And, it’s all about the photo with home and car sales. So weird to me, too. I also think it seems braggy to post your new car on socials. Right?

  5. These crack me up! I didn’t realize there was a riff between the Big Beaver Corporation and the little beaver town in Ohio. That’s terrible! The packing cubes were ALL the rage, but they don’t work well for me either, honestly. The joint FB accounts bug me too, as well as the dialogue between two people you know are in the same room. Come on, now…

I love you and your unpopular opinions!

  6. The AI flyers are driving me insane. They all look the same. It makes me not want to support businesses that are using them. I would rather your flyer look homemade than see one more flyer that all looks the same.

  7. Valid points on all of these opinions! I for sure agree about the joint social media accounts. I have never tried sushi so I for sure don’t see that being a meal for me. I have my share of Amazon clothes, but I haven’t bought any in a few months, which is good for me! I remember hearing that crazy water bottle story!

    1. Right? You haven’t? My favorite is veggie so that is not the traditional sushi. The Amazon things I buy tend to be “influenced” and tend to get donated. I rarely get a good fit or the quality fabric I want.

  8. Hi Amy!
I totally agree on so much Hey Dude shoes are ugly! And water bottles I’m an ice eater I’m very picky about my ice and I can’t if I have a water bottle. I use Stanley like cups with no lid. And Sushi for dinner Ha! I’m not eating it at all. Between the fish and cucumber oh hell no!

    Cute post! Cheers!

  9. This cracked me up, as those are all my unpopular opinions too! Especially the Hey Dudes! Other popular things I don’t like: Stanley cups unless you’re a child, Chick Fil A sandwiches,(yuck soggy bread) overfilled duck lips, and pickleball. Oh, and thong bikinis at the beach. Unsanitary! lol I do love sushi, though.

    1. Ha! Thank you! I do like a Chik Fil A sandwich every now and then. If you wait too long, the bun does get soggy. There is a viral hack where you order a strip and a bun a la carte to save money. There you go!
I am so tired of hearing about pickle ball!
Thongs are starting to be everywhere and it would look so much more classy to cover the bum. I recently saw some bums that needed to be covered if you know what I mean.

  10. This was fun to read! I want to try one of the alcoholic soft serve drinks but I don’t think I would be a fan, I think they would be just too cold! I was in a bar at the weekend that only had the tall tables and stools and it was not fun trying to get up and down, I never feel comfortable. I totally agree with you about sushi as a meal, it’s not but my youngest would disagree and will eat it as a meal. hahaha! I cringe whenever I see a couples social media account. My eldest said to me the other day I should say happy birthday on my fellas Facebook, I thought it was a silly idea, I was in the same room as him. lol

    1. If they have come to England, you should try it. Right? I hate a tall table. I also will judge your establishment on the comfort of the seating. I hate the metal chairs, too. I feel like the social media with couples is for show. Tom doesn’t have one so I don’t have to worry about it.

  12. I don’t drink alcohol often, and I don’t drink coffee, but our little town has at least four Starbucks and a Seven something or other! I don’t think I’ve ever ordered any clothing for myself from Amazon. I may have for one of my kids if it was on their Christmas list. I try not to shop on Amazon at all. Hmmm…I’m trying to think if I have any unpopular opinions. I don’t like Instagram…there, I said it. It was fun when people just posted their photos for fun. I followed lots of people from Chicago because a friend (who lived there) got me started on Instagram. I think my first photo was of a beautiful old bridge in my hometown during the winter. I also don’t like teachers dressing down…like leggings and athletic wear all the time.

    1. I like non-chain coffee shops the best. 7 Brew is crazy popular. I’ve tried it once and it was just ok for me. I don’t know what to order, though. I do like Instagram way better than Facebook. I was always one of the most dressed up teachers and I really wanted Best Dressed for teacher superlatives but I never got it. I started wearing jeans more in the last few years but I always was professional and wore something nice on top. The students always complimented my outfits which was sweet.

  13. Wow, that was fun! I’ve never bought any clothes from Amazon but one of the daughters bought some really nice athletic clothes (which of course looks smashing in a 22 year old girl that visits the gym frequently:D).

I don’t get the packing cubes either… I love the idea of it (me being an organized person), but why would I put more stuff (boxes) in my already overfilled bag!?

    Like

    1. They don’t work great for me. The quality isn’t usually that good unless you spend a bit more or buy a brand you know like Umgee. Athletic clothes tend to be good.
I agree – I can roll and fit in nooks and crannies without the cubes.

  14. This was such a fun post! I agreed on about half of them. Definitely agree on tall tables, expensive concerts, Hey dudes, sushi, drive thru coffee, outlet malls (definitely used to be better, now just offer cheaper items). Disagree on: Bucee’s – you can actually find great gifts, household items, and delicious food there. It’s not all just beaver tshirts. They are a great Texas business that pays excellent wages. Amazon clothes – pretty much all my clothes are Amazon and Walmart now. Packing cubes – I roll the clothes inside the packing cubes. I would add water bottles in general – both disposable and reusable. I just don’t carry water around with me, and can drink it out of a glass at home. I do buy a case of water bottles to keep on hand for hurricane season. Thanks for the thought provoking list!

  15. This is such a great post! Hey dudes are so ugly. I do not understand. I loathe tall tables too…& I don’t like a bar stool without a back.
The beaver gas station….hate! No food there seems appetizing…if anything, some of the gifts are cute but that’s it! Shared social media…no! I don’t get it either. This was a fun read.

  16. I don’t like the beaver gas stations either, but my husband and sons love the sandwiches. It’s too crowded and makes me anxious. I don’t care for Amazon and try not to order from them if I can buy it locally; we don’t have Prime. I love to sit on a coffee shop and drink a coffee while reading a book or doing school work. It’s relaxing. My last thing is fast food. I think it’s gross and can’t stomach it.

    Like

    1. I can’t imagine waiting in line for gas and then being overwhelmed inside. I would like to quit Prime, but Tom doesn’t want to. Fast food has become such a rarity for us. I always feel gross after eating it. I love a book and a coffee shop, too, and need to do that more this winter.

  17. Ha ha! These were cool! I don’t sit often at tall tables but don’t mind them. I don’t buy clothes on Amazon because I like to feel what I get and most of the time I end up return Amazon finds. Beaver gas stations… they don’t need more money so let the little guy be in Ohio! we do love their brisket sandwiches though. I roll my clothes and put them in packing cubes, I guess I really use them to keep my suitcase organized and when we go to the beach, I put the kids clothes in them and add them to a big plastic tote that can be used for other stuff while we are down there.
