And it’s August! I’m linking up with Sarah and Holly to share my weekend. How was yours? I would love to hear in the comments!
Sending positive vibes to those starting school today!
Let’s back up to Thursday…
I had a lovely day celebrating a friend’s birthday at the boutique hotel pool.
Mimosa…

I only took these two photos which tells you I was in the moment.

I got a big surprise before I left when I found out both of my kids were off workday, had no plans, and wanted to come to dinner. I knew they were both off and I threw the invite out there not thinking they would both be free. I made my Ghiradelli brownie mix and ordered mediterranean. We love this meal:

The kids stayed for a few hours after dinner and played some games in the basement. It was just like old times and I was very happy. I had been missing their laughter in the basement hang out room lately, to be honest.
Friday was a really chill day. I am trying to keep Fridays free from chores, so I tried hard this week to get everything done before Friday. I went to Target and shopping for a birthday gift and then made tomato soup and grilled cheese for dinner. Tom and I watched this:

It was amusing. There were a couple of funny lines about pickleball.
The weather forecast was really wrong for Saturday morning and Saturday day and I was kind of annoyed. We wanted to boat with some friends but cancelled due to what we thought the weather was going to do. Have you noticed how many weekends have been rainy this summer? Sorry, I am in a bad mood about WEATHER. Also, are you like this? If you have evening plans, you can’t do too much during the day?
I made plans to go to a Mexican restaurant and I requested this upstairs area:

I chose this place because it was within walking distance of a dive bar where my friend’s band was playing:

Dan’s band plays like two times a year and they usually start at 9:00. When I found out this one was starting at 8:00, I had to go!
Dan is in the red t-shirt with our high school mascot:

Dan’s newly turned 21 daughter:

She has an internship at Tom’s company this year so that has been fun. I am enjoying my friends’ young adult kids so much these days!
My college besties: We have been dancing at bars since 1990! They wanted me to do my old signature move of the splits but I declined. I did a side lunge to appease them.

The band sounded really good and played all songs we knew and that were nostalgic for us. I stole part of the set list from Dan’s IG:

It was packed and we danced for about an hour:

Waking up Sunday morning…

Eddie Otis will let us sleep in as long as we want to now.
I had an early morning Kroger delivery that did get me up:

Lots of veg!

The app had offered me really cheap blackberries so I added to cart and then made a cobbler and it was delish!

I didn’t do a whole lot Sunday but I did work on some of my clutter clearing.
I found Jack’s Spanish binder from senior year when I was his teacher (and Mason’s). This is a poem I assigned:

I gathered up a couple of trash bags and a couple of donation bags. I’m so sentimental about my kids’ stuff, though! The paper clutter is probably the hardest, no? I am also overwhelmed by their books. I feel like they moved out and took what they wanted but didn’t want to get rid of what they left here, either. They just want us to store it. So, I have the hard job of deciding what to keep for them.
If you are wondering why we didn’t boat at all this weekend and especially today – the weather stunk again!
Tomorrow is Fashion Files and Wednesday is Currently! Look back at Friday’s post for the Currently prompts if you need them and feel free to combine your Hodgepodge with Currently. Hope to see you there!

Sorry ’bout your weather! But your Thursday pool day looked great! Quite boring weather over here too… 68 degrees and cloudy… But we had a great birthday weekend for 22-year-old at the cabin! As long as it’s not raining you can still be outside, having a coffee by the sea for example… π
I’m with you on the fact that if you have evening plans you can’t do much during the day! Have to save energy…
How lovely it is to have the kids in the house! And how hard it is to throw away nostalgia… I would say even impossible!

That’s ok! Wow – 68! Happy birthday to your girl! How fun that you went to the cabin. I would love a coffee by any body of water!
Right – I have to save up!
It was so nice, to be honest!

How fun to go out dancing with friends! So you mean your weather didn’t end up being bad? It was just forecast? Our weather was not good for outdoor activities on Saturday- it rained on and off most of the day. (I did low key love it due to us needing rain.) Dinner with the boys sounds nice. It’s great that they were both off and available!! Your food and drink look good, per the usual :). Have a great Monday!

It mainly only spit rain but always looked like it was going to rain. The only 10 minutes of real rain we got was right as I was leaving to go out Saturday night. It was just a wrong and annoying forecast! I would have loved real rain. It was great! Thank you! You too! Let us know about the job – heading to your blog now.

The weather in Alabama has been weird, too. I wanted to go to the neighborhood pool for an hour on either Saturday or Sunday, but the clouds would roll in. I think we’ve had more rain here this summer than I ever remember.

Saturday night looked like so much fun! I’m sorry the weather sucked; it gets on my nerves a lot sometimes. Ha! For some reason, the weather here the past few days has been almost fall-like. It was perfect for the wedding I went to over the weekend, and I was happy for the bride and groom! I love that your guys came over Friday night and that they hung out laughing in the basement. All of mine were here last night, plus Mallory, and I was in Heaven. At one point my four went upstairs to Noah’s room and I could hear them laughing. It made my heart fill up!
I hope you have a great Monday! We have our big district back to school bash today, and I’m excited about it because I’m a nerd. I have to wear my school t-shirt, though, and I don’t like it, so bleh.

It really was! It felt like that the weekend before last here. How nice for the wedding! I feel like you might have gone for a warmer dress?
That is so fun!
Good luck today and it’s an easy thing to throw on for a Monday, though?

We were supposed to have storms all weekend but did not – in fact we were going to go to the beach but decided against it based on the forecast. Crazy!
Your friend’s band had a fun playlist, I would love a night out like that.
How nice to have both of your boys home. I’m with you about storing their stuff and not knowing what to keep. I wish we had a basement, I have a hard time throwing away anything of theirs. I love looking back at old schoolwork!

I think I’m just mad at the bad forecasting all weekend. It only spit rain but looked ugly yesterday. Saturday it poured rain once right when I was leaving the house! Annoying!
Yes! It’s so hard!

It looks like you had a lovely time at the pool and how great to have your kids home for dinner! I am in a bad mood because we don’t have any rain and haven’t for weeks! How great to see your friend and his band, it sounds like such a fun evening! Yum to the blackberry cobbler! They are always so expensive here but I try to go foraging for them later on in the year.

I did! Thank you! I wanted some real rain if it was going to look like rain. It only happened once for just a few minutes! They were so cheap – $1.67 for a package of blackberries!

For once, we had GREAT weather this weekend. That pool looks so inviting.
I love Jake Johnson. There was a movie many years ago on Netflix (in indie film with time travel) that he was so good in…I also started New Girl again.

Yay! On your last “free weekend”, too! It is. It’s just a tiny pool but you feel fancy. I am watching New Girl before bed now! I love him!

What a lovely weekend! I love that you got that surprise dinner with both kids home, those moments are so special. The night out dancing with your friends sounds like so much fun too! I havenβt been anywhere to dance in ages, but Iβd love to. For now, I just dance around the house when Iβm home alone doing the housework. That blackberry cobbler looks delicious!

The weather! I hear ya! We were just saying we’ve hardly done any boating this summer because when we’re free the skies have not cooperated. I gave in to how yuckky I have been feeling so maybe the rainy weekend was good for me. I spent it on the couch and actually got in my bed most of Friday afternoon, and did absolutely nothing trying to fight this thing. I have grandkids to watch this week so need to be on my game. Not quite there, but definitely some better. Sounds like you made the most of the weekend and having both boys in the house is a bonus I enjoy my girl’s friends too, and watching them mother their babies is such a delight. Have a nice week.

Same! We have only gone out about 5 times due to weather or other plans.

Hi Amy!
We had the most boring weekend. It was raining and cold so we just chilled all weekend , which is fine with my hubby but I was very bored. I just canβt sit still. I am the same as you I donβt really want to do too much on Saturdays if we are going out. Thatβs a very good question! Why?!?!
Cheers! Missy

I actually wish it had rained for real! It just spit and looked ugly! I know – I like the idea of doing a morning activity and then resting. I should have done more!

Boo to uncooperative weather! π We had alot of much needed rain in June and July and now it’s 100+ everyday. I understand the paper clutter. That is my biggest declutter issue too. I am also very sentimental about my kids stuff. They have boxes under the beds with sone of their cute schoolwork and art. I know I need to reduce the amount I keep but it’s just so hard!

Right? Oh well. Oh – 100 + is not good for me! Yes! It’s hard. I have seen people take pictures and make albums?
