Hello and happy Tuesday! I actually can’t believe how many outfits I have for you this week. I also can’t believe how bad my photos are! I really need to find my tripod and go outside for my outfit pics. What is wrong with me?

I guess I got tired of being so casual so I put this on to walk the doggie before running errands one day last week. I have on my Old Navy navy blouse from this season, my lime and white linen striped shorts from Old Navy a few seasons ago, and the silver Birks my sister handed down to me. My sisters and I all wear about the same shoe size, by the way. There may be about .5 of a difference.

I met a friend for breakfast and thought I would get out my $5 clearance Chico’s gauzy white skirt. I found this several years ago. I cut some of the lining because the lining had gotten too long after washing. I wore a consignment Target button up, and my gold lace up sandals that are several years old. This outfit was like $11 if you don’t include the sandals!

I wore this to meet my former student for coffee. Sadly, the back of the pants are developing a tear along the seam. I am not getting rid of them just yet; I will wear a longer shirt next time. This top is consignment J.Crew and the pants are clearance from Versona several years ago. The gold flip flops are new this year from Aerie.

I bought a new blouse! I went to TJ Maxx looking for some house things and also wanted to check out the blouse selection. Not good! But, I did find this:

I have been wanting a brown blouse – strange thing to want! Did you know brown is “in”? That sounds so stupid! Well, I have been wanting more brown!

I styled it above with consignment Chico’s white pants and liked it but thought I would get hot.

I styled it below with the white skirt for Tom’s mom’s birthday dinner. I got hot running around and decided to change blouses at the last minute. The brown is gauzy and a bit thick. I am wearing my cork Aerosoles that I don’t wear very much, to be honest. I still look their look.

I ended up with this blouse instead and it’s very lightweight for the extreme heat we had on Saturday.

I put this down my blouse on my back and neck to cool myself off:

It’s hard to be hot! I don’t like who I am when I’m hot!

Most days I look like this:

I still have a new leather purse on the brain and now I’m obsessing over the color green like this one:

My sister sent me a photo from the Free People website. Do you remember me showing a similar pair of flats back in the spring. You guys! These are becoming more mainstream. I can’t tell you the levels at which I hate these. They are so, so weird. Is this finally a sign that I am growing up and not following trends as much?

Why? Which toe goes where? Send help! I’m not ok!

So, what have you been wearing?

I can definitely tell I am approaching the end of my interest in summer clothes. I am hoping to weed out some more things I haven’t worn this season (that would mean they don’t fit my style anymore) and inventory and start to think of things I want for fall.

There is quite a stretch where you still have to wear summer weight things, but you want less summery florals and more fall-like colors, you know?

I really enjoy fashion and putting outfits together. I also love to help other people find outfits. It’s so fun!

Please join us here!

  1. The Free People shoes are so odd. Do they think people are trying to channel their inner (/outer?) goat? And honestly, it seems to prove that many people will buy things just because it’s the newest trend. There’s something to be said for keeping and wearing every pair of normal looking shoes in your closet!! You don’t need to go out and buy the weird looking shoes because some brand says they’re “in” and are likely paying influencers to peddle them. Your brown shirt is cute! Thanks for the link up and I sort of apologize for my post. There are zero fashion photos and just some thoughts. I could have written a lot more but I was running out of time…

    1. I do not get it! I agree – someone might be laughing at the sheep running for the trend.
That’s ok! Also, I just figured out that I messed up the time on the link party – it’s open now!

  2. The aqua top with pink flowers is nice, pink with aqua is one color combination that I think is underutilized in fashion. Awful shoes, the only ones that look cute with those feet are camels.

  3. Lots of cute looks this week (though not those last shoes… those are just odd… who would even??). I like the green leather purse though. I can see why you’re thinking of it or something like it so much. It’s a great color.

    1. Oh, I didn’t know that! Brown is so fresh looking right now. I love it! I have thought about getting a job at a boutique. Thank you! They are truly horrible!

  4. Absolutely not when it comes to those FP shoes – the 1st time I saw them I thought it was a prank.

I love those white Chico’s pants on you and your brown top. That will be a great outfit when it cools off a bit.

Too bad those cute pants are getting a rip at the seam, can they be sewn? I love that print!

    1. Right? They are truly horrible.
Thank you! I liked the outfit but maybe need to try different shoes and yes, to wearing it in less humid weather. Some gauze can be really thick.
I’m not sure because it’s not just on the seam. Maybe, though? I could take to my tailor!

  5. Those shoes are crazy! But cool somehow? And since I have a slight problem with hallux valgus I wonder if they could be something for me…?

I love the brown blouse! I’m also into brown this summer! I bought a brown “fancy t-shirt” from Michael Kors at TJ Maxx (love TJ Maxx!) and a brown crochet bag from Tommy Bahama (love TJ Maxx) which I wear with brownish patterned trousers (love HM! <3)

You should mend those trousers! My mum used to mend rips like that by sewing in some fabric behind it.

  6. I love all your outfits from the week! That brown top is cute and will transition well into fall. It’ll look great with your Halara jeans! I saw those camel toe sandals in person recently as well, and I hate them. I don’t often use such strong language, but my feelings about those are strong. They’re literally the ugliest shoes I have ever seen in my life and I don’t know who would want them. Ha! Thanks for hosting us!

  7. Those shoes are legitimately insane. I am praying this isn’t one of those trends that catch on.

I tried on a new jacket I got the other day, just for fun, and then took it off and put it away for two more months.

  8. I love what you have been wearing! I do like the gauzy white skirt, I am not brave enough to wear white as I seem to attract dirt but I wish I could. The blouses are cute but those Free People shoes are really odd, I have seen them on other websites since you shared them a few months ago.

  9. I bought a brown top from Old Navy back in June. I love brown! Such a rich color that looks so good styled with white like you wore it. As for those animal hoof shoes, I came across a woman on social media who said that she saw them at Dillard’s while out shopping. She tried them on as a joke but ended up buying them because she said they were so comfortable!! Lol!! I am done buying summer clothes as well. I have been tempted by the N sale but only bought a new pair of On Cloud running shoes and suede mary janes.

  10. Omg …LOVE both the white with brown combo outfits. So chic.
I just randomly start sweating sometimes…I guess hot flash? Ugh. Not so fun…especially in the summer.
