Hello and welcome to Fashion Files with Marsha and me! What have you been wearing lately?

One day last week I wore this… It’s my new Old Navy gauzy skort with an older (maybe last year) Old Navy graphic tee.

I wore these little lemon earrings:

And, my white Swatch watch. Do you still wear a watch?

This outfit was a bad move. I wore this in a storm and torrential downpour and my white shirt got wet and my flip flops squelched in the puddles. I think I need a short sleeve shirt with the skort, too. Oh well. I do love the skort so much. The print is just so cute.

I wore this to meet Mason for a happy hour and I was worried the yellows didn’t match. I probably won’t wear this together again. Maybe I will wear the blouse with my white gauzy shorts?

I will admit that my hair is still a little wet. I couldn’t fathom using a blow dryer on it when it was so hot out. I wore this to Tom’s birthday dinner. This is a J.Crew gauzy dress that I found at a consignment shop for maybe $12. It has pockets!

I didn’t buy anything new this week!

Let’s talk returns…

I decided to return this Old Navy chambray top for two reasons. It was short and hit at my widest point. It was heavy. I feared I wouldn’t wear it in the summer because of its heft. Also, it was $40 which is a lot for Old Navy!

I do love the look of the light chambray with orange so maybe I will find another version. It made me sad for this not to work out but I think I made the right decision for me.

I also returned my impulse Target.com order.

I thought this set was so cute but they were out of stock in many sizes and I knew the shorts would be too big and the top too small but my optimism was high and I did it anyway. I still think it’s cute but it does have a pajama quality to it.

I already have one pair of lace up the leg sandals and I have plenty of nude/neutral/brown options.

Ultimately, I decided none of the items were 10/10 and they could end up being wardrobe mistakes.

  1. I like the yellow shorts/yellow and white short combo! I also like the lace up shoes at the end. I have a pair of lace of sandals that I like a lot. I definitely don’t need another pair so I won’t buy the ones you featured but I like them. I wear my Apple watch most days. I have some bands that I change out (very occasionally!) to change the look.

    1. Thank you! I know – one probably only needs one pair of lace ups.
      I used to have an Apple watch but it fell off and shattered when I was moving my twins to college and I never replaced it.

    1. Thank you! You do have to stop and re-tie them sometimes so I choose to wear them when I won’t be walking a lot. I have had them for 5 or 6 years and swooned over them when I got them.

  3. Those lace up sandals look like they have pinecones on them! Good for you for returning things that weren’t a 10/10. We were trapped in Target the other night thanks to a rainstorm and I was checking things out. Their prices have gone up and I am not impressed. I see so many things on social media but getting to pick them up and touch them made me realize they are definite no’s for me.

    Like your top from Old Navy – why is a top there $40? That’s crazy!

    It looks like the yellows in your outfit worked but maybe the lighting is different in the photo.

    That green gauze dress is such a winner!

    1. Yes! The podcaster that told us about them said that, too, and that they would work into fall. Lol. But, do I want to wear lace up sandals in the fall?
      Yeah, Old Navy, I’m not paying $40.
      I have also felt the same about Target clothing. It’s so expensive, now, too.
      I really need to shop my closet and my consignment stores. I need a better short sleeved white blouse.
      I am really happy I bought the green gauze! It’s KD green, too, so that makes me smile!

  5. I think the yellow top looks great with the yellow shorts! Honestly, from the photos, it looked like a matched set. I wear my activity tracker watch and have gotten so used to using it to actually tell time that I miss it so much on those days/nights I elect not to wear it.

    1. Well thank you! Good! I am thinking about getting an old school step tracker. I look at my phone’s tracker but I don’t always have my phone on me so I know I am missing lots of steps.

  6. The yellow outfit must have looked different in person to you, because I love that one! But it would also be cute with white gauze. Way to go on making some returns and for resisting! I returned a swimsuit yesterday, barely by the skin of my teeth! I almost missed the drop off date. Happy Tuesday!

    1. Maybe so? I am always paranoid about colors, though. I think it will look better to my eyes with the white.

      Oh, I hate returns so I can relate to putting them off. It feels like “found money” and that’s what ends up motivating me.

  7. I wear my Apple watch, but that doesn’t have “hands” obviously. But I do love it. I have a super old version and works fine. The orange skirt looks cute on you. I bought it, but am returning it. The shirt I bought to wear with it didn’t work. I have lots of other clothes, so it’s okay. As always, cute finds!

  13. I still wear a watch and love it. I wear a Seiko, and had to laugh when I saw a picture from 1992 and I was wearing the same style watch. Ha!

  15. I can’t even tell you how old my chambray shirt is. It’s at that really good faded and really soft stage…which means it will soon tear or get a hole. I love the yellow outfit! What about black bottoms? Or maybe that’s not black in the print. I’m wearing the sardine apron dress as I’m typing this. It’s just the cutest print and now I’m thinking of that movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs! I am really working at returning that which doesn’t bring me joy.

  16. I love your happy hour fit. So summery. I can’t tell from the pic that the yellows don’t match. My mom always wore a swatch watch in the 80s . I’d forgotten about that!

    1. Thank you! I think it will work better with white but I think I had on dark underwear – lol. We all do lazy things like that, right?

  17. I really like the yellow outfit even if the yellows are a little off from each other. I also love that sardine print skort so much. I was just in Old Navy last week and tried on the dresses in that print but they didn’t have my size. I would have bought one if it fit me properly. I also really like your green dress. Such a lovely shade of green!

  18. I like the green dress a lot! I’ve been finding dresses at walmart lately lol.

    Again, I just couldn’t with Old Navy this year. Everything I felt or tried on felt like it had an expiration date after one or two washes. They are hit or miss! I have 3 or 4 Old Navy shirts I’ve been wearing for years though!
