Fashion Files is chugging right along! Thank you so much for reading and linking up. We all have to get dressed, right? Marsha is my co-host so be sure to check her out as well.
In 2026, I have purchased clothing at Target, Old Navy, Aerie, my little boutiques (I always think of Little Bo Peep when I say that), and my consignment stores. I also had one successful Amazon clothing purchase of the jeans. I have a weird little theory that you have to spend $30 for decent Amazon pieces. I tend not to buy Amazon clothing because I just loathe returns back to Amazon. Returning to Old Navy, Target, etc. doesn’t seem as bad. I don’t know.
Have you heard of The Lazy Genius’ Decide Once rule? It could be “we always eat ham on Easter” or “we always order pizza on Fridays”. It’s so obvious but so helpful, you know? I was talking to my sister about the number of decisions a teacher makes in a day and it’s freaking exhausting! She was saying she didn’t want to have to decide on something and I said that I totally understood.
A decide once for me for a few seasons has been a black tank suit. Now, last year, I bought the navy version of the black suit I had and ended up loving that.
I ordered this suit and it was a size too big but I am waiting on the smaller size to come in. Oftentimes with suits you do have to go up a size. The quality is great and I love the thicker straps. I think it looks much more than the sale price of $23.

Do you have any Decide Once rules in your wardrobe?
I bought this gauze top in yellow and have already worn it a few times. I really think I need the white to replace a couple of other white blouses that are past their prime.

It is now in store. I couldn’t find the swimsuit in store, by the way.

So, far I have resisted the other colors and the pants. Like I said, I think I might get the white. The brown might be really nice for early fall. Uh oh, Amy…
Do you have a fun strap or a fun purse? It becomes part of the outfit with a solid top. I had a return at Nordstrom Rack and snapped this photo. I could have worn some sandals and made it a true outfit.

Here I am in the yellow gauze with my crocheted cardigan over it.

Yellow is a happy color for me.
I broke out last year’s fruit salad shirt! I found this at TJ Maxx or Marshall’s last year and have loved it. It’s a light linen fabric. It works with my red shoes! I have actually seen a fruit print in several expensive dresses and tops at my boutiques.

Last year:

Rainy day outfit of the “set” I created from Old Navy separates.

Floral blouse wtih my Aerie cut offs. You have seen these in several of the photos. I love them! I am wearing my gold Aerie flip flops, too.

Do you have short rain boots? I need to replace these. I wear them almost every day; right now, I wear them in the dewy grass. Let me know if you have a brand recommendation. These are from Costco and I might just have to wait until they put boots out again.

I am going to try to challenge myself to wear some pants and other shorts besides cut offs for next week.
What outfits do you like and tell me your thoughts on my topics today!
Amy
I dislike shopping so much and then I read your post and get inspired 🙂
I have to get out today and I’m thinking I might stop into Old Navy to see what they have….

I relate to the Decide Once concept. We are pizza on Friday kind of people (not every Friday of course but that´s the default meal) and a few years ago I decided to not care about fussing with my eyebrows. I´ll pluck to prevent a unibrow but that is literally it! I don´t know what the current trendy look is for brows- don´t know, don´t care, lol. Your outfits are all cute and summery! The black bathing suit is nice- I hope your size comes in. I didn´t link up as I had zero outfit pics! Abby was home for a few days and her room is where I normally take pictures. I still could have but the days were just different (in a good way!) when she was here and my normal routines were off.

Yes, you are! Isn’t it helpful especially right now? I think many women have a decide one about beauty. Nails, brows, lashes. I decided not to care about my lashes. The black tank suit is literally taking the slow boat and is supposed to arrive tomorrow. You never know with ON sizing.
I get that. Your routine has had to change a bit!

Decision fatigue is real! I don’t have a one and done in fashion but I can see how it would be helpful for some.
It’s funny that you don’t like Amazon returns; I am the opposite. I prefer them. I hate going into a store to return something but walking into Staples and handing over my Amazon return is so quick and easy!

It can be helpful!
I know – that is weird about me.
I guess it depends on where you do your Amazon returns.

That yellow gauze top is really nice on you. I don’t tend to buy/wear much yellow.

Love all these looks and I like seeing what you found while shopping. I went to Kohl’s recently and bought a dress and top that I really don’t need but want. Lol! You look amazing in yellow and loving that cute bag so much!

Thank you! I never have luck at Kohl’s! I know there are some diamonds in the rough but my Kohl’s is also a mess. I do like yellow – thank you!

I loved all the outfits! The rainy day one is so cute…I still kind of want to find that set, but it’s also past the point of wearing a sweatshirt here. Or it’s about to be. I love your fun purse and the metallic flip flops! I also talked about a purse strap on my blog post today. I basically use the same one over and over, but it’s a good one. I love that you have set places that you shop…I do the same thing here, minus the consignment shop, because I don’t live near one. Thanks for hosting today!

I think the kelly green would have been nice for you but I get that! That’s why I didn’t buy a second one. I do throw on a sweatshirt in the am in the house, though or after my shower.
Oh, I will go read! We both love a purse strap!
It wasn’t intentional but looking back those were my places so far.
Thank you for linking up!

You have a nice mix of things to wear – I really love the fruit shirt and I still see similar prints out this year. I am petite and all clothing is hit or miss for me. I have pretty good luck with Loft. I just went out of my comfort zone and bought a pair of soft jean petite balloon pants from Old Navy and a yellow top. It is somehow weirdly cute on me. You never know unless you try some of the trends. I love in store shopping but with petite sizing I usually do not find much in the stores.

I do love your cutoffs! I am a fan of linen pants in the summer. And I just had to put the rest of my pants up, the ones that were more fitted and almost jean like material: too hot now. That gives more space in my closet for me not to forget my wide leg pants and my lightweight cotton pants. I think I will be wearing my maxis a lot this summer and my shorts!

I really like that fruit shirt! I just think it’s so much fun! I need a pair of flip flops that are really supportive. I still wear my snowboots when it’s wet outside. I’m sure my neighbors think I’m crazy!

I am completely opposites on returns. I would much rather drop off an Amazon return to my UPS store than bother going into a store! I love the decide once concept. I guess a decide once rule I have is that I don’t wear sleeveless or even very short-sleeved tops! And I always buy Nike tennis shoes for walking.
