Happy April Fool’s Day! Happy start of April and a new month to you! Can you believe it’s April? As you are reading this, I am hoping Tom has discovered one of his first April Fool’s pranks. I am switching out his Ale 8 for a diet version. Bahahahaha. I hope to think of a couple more pranks.

Ale 8 is a soft drink made near Tom’s hometown. It’s basically ginger ale.

Thank you again to Tanya for my adorable logo!

Planting or hatching (literal or figurative – like planting an idea or hatching a plan)

I wish I were a gardener. I think I might try to do some basil on the upper patio. I need to get a plant holder and I think I can trust Eddie Otis now. I’ve had to be bare bones on both patios due to his shenanigans. So, not literally planting anything. I can’t wait for my hydrangea to bloom! I also hope to finally fill my galvanized tub with some plants.

I am trying to hatch plans for things that are coming up this year. As an overthinker, sometimes it’s hard to pin things down. I question myself and ask “should I do that?” I hate that about myself but I am working on it. Plans can change but if you fail to plan you won’t have anything on the calendar.

Cleaning (spring)

I am trying to keep up with general cleaning with a loose schedule. I am also going to work my list! Yes, a list – finally!

Eating and drinking

Did you catch my “Groceries for Two” post? I am still meal planning for dinners. I think it’s time to change up my breakfast a bit. I’m trying to focus on protein and favorite vegetables for lunch and dinner. I am craving salads, so that’s good!

I’m drinking coffee, water, LMNT electrolytes, and some wine or a cocktail once or twice a week. If I add LMNT to sparkling water, it is such a treat!

I want simple foods right now, too. If I see a meal that looks good on someone else’s blog or on social media, I put it in my notes app on my phone.

Reading and watching

Did you catch my March Books post? I read 8 fiction books in the month of March! I have some good ones, so go back and check that out.

I am watching all the Bravo shows, Bridgerton, Age of Attraction, and Love is Blind Sweden! I also tried Love Overboard on Hulu. Talk about a dumb show! With Tom, we just finished How to get to Heaven from Belfast.

Loving

  • that Mason is happy (even though I miss him)
  • my spring additions to my closet – my Old Navy blouses are getting lots of wear and my gold kitten heels and my gold Mary Janes are, too.
  • that I sold my shoes I wasn’t wearing
  • that I finally really learned how to play mah jong!
  • that I went to some cool things this month – plant BINGO, the PBS show premiere, a speakeasy, lunch with a friend, charcuterie with a friend, and some new boutiques with friends and by myself, and some happy hours with friends
  • that I walked more this month

Looking back at my camera roll is a reminder of my month!

I would love to hear what you are up to Currently!

  1. I often wish I was a gardener too but I’m just not… that said Alec has huge plans for a big raised bed of veggies and things this summer and since he’s going to be gone to Greece for part of it I think I’m going to have to step it up and at least make sure nothing dies while he’s gone.

  2. Happy Early April Fools Day! (I had to check the calendar to make sure it was still March!) I hope you can get some basil planted. The plant smells as wonderful as it seems like it would smell and fresh basil (that you’ve just picked yourself :)) is a wonderful addition to so many dishes. I went to Kroger for the first time in months the other day and I have THOUGHTS! (Seeing the pic from your grocery haul post reminded me of it.) I may write about it if I get the time. Your list of loving is a great one!

    1. Me too – oops! I wasn’t thinking clearly when I scheduled that post. Our Kroger is horrible right now. It’s a mess. They have made the aisles extend up higher/taller. It’s not a real pleasant experience. I can find better sales/deals if I go in, though. I’d like to hear your thoughts!

  4. Looks like March was a good month! I planted bulbs in the fall and it is so exciting to see them come up now. I hope to plant more things this year but I’m not a gardener(yet!). All the fresh food looks yummy and so does your LMNT mocktail!

  5. What a great post! I went ahead and joined this today as well…it was a morning post that I published really quickly since I have plans today after work with a co-worker. Aren’t you proud of me for that?! I love that you walked more this month and that you’re intentional about how you spend your time. All of your drinks sound fabulous! I bet those packets in sparkling water is really good. I love a fizzy drink! Happy Tuesday, my friend.

    1. Well, as you can see – I messed up! I wanted to do Currently separate from Hodgepodge this time. Oh well.
I am very proud of you! We are having such beautiful weather this week! I am glad you have coworker plans, too. I am hoping to buy limoncello today!

  6. I thought you were playing an April fools joke on us by posting early 🤣 I had to double check the day/date!

      1. No, sadly, human hair would not be a deterrent. Not much deters the deer here from eating our shrubs and flowers. The only thing they avoid is strong smelling herbs and flowers like lavender, rosemary, and marigolds, etc.

  7. I just had to check my calendar. lol Your pranks sound fun. I am not a gardener but I do have things growing at the moment and I am feeling very pleased with myself. I think I need to start making myself more lists to get things done. The things you are loving did make me smile.

  8. It is so good for my mental health to have things planned on the calendar, even if they are just little things. Coming back tomorrow to link up!

  9. I have moved from a house with over an acre of land and lots of garden spots filled with all kinds of flowers to a house in a vinyl village with a bit of a yard. Unfortunately, the ground was clay (you could make bricks from it, I swear!) to a condo with little garden space. I miss being able to put in big beds of flowers where I wanted. We just started Bridgerton…is it me, or is the story line just a little tired? It’s probably me though I do love Queen Charlotte’s hair and the costumes! What is LMNT? I need to get away from drinking Diet Coke and drink more water! I’ll link up tomorrow!

    1. Oh, that would be hard to give up but also freeing?
Yes, it’s super tired and silly. I love the clothes and the instrumental music is popular songs but done on string instruments. It’s catchy!
LMNT is a salty electrolyte powder. I love the citrus salt and the raspberry salt. Kellyann told me to mix the raspberry with fresca. It’s like a fizzy mocktail. I swear it has helped my migraines.

  10. I have some gold kitten heels in my Amazon cart! I want/need a pair. I like that you make a spring cleaning list. I need to do that instead of keeping all the to-do thought in my head.

    1. They make me feel fab! They are best for sitting, though. They are very comfortable for heels with that said. A tangible list for me to check things off really helps. I also like to be small and specific.

  11. I don’t know if you mentioned where Mason went to, but I’m glad he’s flourishing!

Even with two kids, I find I’m really just making enough with two + enough for leftovers. Wells eats mostly what I make but Sutton usually eats very little dinner. I don’t know that I’ve ever adjusted how I’ve cooked over the last 16 years lol.

We do like and eat leftovers so I don’t stress that much. I bought one hot dog for Tom’s baseball night! It was from fresh market’s butcher case!

  12. I’m not a gardener either, but my husband is, so I leave it to him. Unfortunately he gets his fill of it at work and isn’t too keen on doing a bunch at home. I’m fine with it. 🙂 Good for you for eating and drinking healthier and lighter, and for walking more! I’m working on lighter eating too, and enjoying salads more than I usually do.

Hope your month is off to a fantastic start!
