It literally felt like summer this weekend! Today is the birthday of my twin niece and nephew Mia and Miles! They are 19! Let’s link up with Sarah and Holly to share the weekend.

Friday dinner started out with a pineapple margarita! Highly recommend! I had sugar on the rim rather than salt, too. I got to a Mexican restaurant patio early to get a table for six and I’m glad I did. Everyone had the same idea.

We had a nice dinner with our couple friends. I had fish tacos.

Saturday morning, Tom, Eddie Otis, and I walked the nature preserve and it was gorgeous.

It runs along the river…

I got bagel sandwiches for us and met Tom and Eddie Otis at the marina where EO was swimming and fetching sticks.

Cute new bagel shop…

Starting to look like spring at the river, too…

I stopped at a market that I would describe as a year-round farmer’s market that is near the marina.

I spent most of the day reading in my happy place…

It got hot in the sun and I moved to the shade with my shadow…

We opted to stay home for Saturday night dinner and just eat what we had in the fridge.

Sunday morning Eddie Otis didn’t want to come back inside so we had our coffee out here while Tom slept in. I can’t really sleep past 7:00, but Tom can sleep until 9:00 sometimes on the weekends.

Chilling…

I placed a Kroger pick up order Saturday night to be ready early Sunday but I also had to go in for a couple more last minute items.

It was nice and empty! Then I put all the groceries away and cleaned and then headed to this food hall for an event that I got tickets to.

It was a premiere of a PBS/KET (Kentucky Educational Television) show called The Farmer and the Foodie.

The food hall has a Spanish food booth!

It was a cool thing to experience!

The highlight was definitely the weather! I am enjoying an easy chick lit book after some deeper reads this month:

What about you?

  1. Sounds like a perfect “empty nester” weekend!!! Love the pictures at the preserve – what a nice place to have near you. Yesterday one of the kids said, “perfect day for the lake”. . .well, except for the FREEZING water – ha! Hope this is a preview of more to come :). Have a great week!

  2. We had a cold and rainy weekend that I pretty much spent in the house reading– a lot. I finished 2 books and started 2 more.

  3. We had that same great weather! Everyone in the ‘burbs was out- grilling, playing in yards, etc. It was so nice! Your weekend looks like a great mix of chilling at home and doing fun things. The food hall event looks fun and different. Have a great Monday!

    1. Oh yes! Everyone was out! It was such a sweet scene. But, you know who else was out? The ex leaf blower husband of the neighbor. He blew (what is there to blow?) for 3 hours on Friday afternoon while I was outside and then he blew for a couple of hours and we could hear it in our living room Saturday.
I gotta take the bad with the good.
      You too!

  6. What a great weekend. The pineapple marg sounds delish! The walk with Tom & EO looks like a pretty place to get some steps in. I was able to read outside quite a bit this weekend and went for walks Saturday and Sunday. I was very thankful for the weather.

    1. I was tickled that it had a flower in it! It was so nice. Didn’t that fill your cup? I feel like such a better person when I can be outside! It’s a little cooler today to help you get back to school for two more painful weeks!

  8. What a great weekend! The weather is amazing here as well right now, and I am here for every minute. I love that you took advantage of it and walked and spent time outside. I read a whole book while I was gone, friend! Woman Down by CoHo. It was GOOD, but I was mad when it ended the way it did. Ha! Thanks for the book rec! I still want to read some others you’ve mentioned. Those boats make me happy! Summer is so close. Happy b-day to your nieces, and happy Monday!

    1. Me too! It really changes my attitude! Wasn’t it good and freaky? I know!
I love to see boats and water. I bet you had a great time traveling but are torn because you also needed more time at home. All breaks should be two weeks – one for each!
