I had such a nice weekend! We need to go back to Thursday, though… and let’s link up with Holly and Sarah.
I had a happy hour at one of my favorite places, Red Hog, which has a really long marble table inside a heated outdoor structure. Unfortunately, there was a private party, but my two high school friends that live nearby and I made do with this table next to a heater. It was still a bit chilly out that afternoon.

We ordered drinks and this homemade brioche bread and butter to share.

It was so nice catching up and laughing together!
This is how Tom told me he was on his way home from work. Ok….

No words – just his selfie. That’s my “hi” below.
Friday I finally saw Wuthering Heights at a matinee with my college roommate and bestie.

The chairs are so comfortable that I was afraid I might fall asleep but I didn’t!

It was stunning! It was so good. I don’t know that I ever read the book, but I read up on the plot before going. I am not sure how close it was to the original story. I also realized you didn’t really need any background to enjoy the movie. I loved it so much. I would see it again. It’s best seen in the theater for sure. I read that it was filmed in the Yorkshire Dales National Park in England. The landscape was gorgeous.
I came home and Eddie Otis and I picked up groceries and walked. I read outside a little bit but it was still chilly. I did finish this book on Friday. Oh wow. It was thought-provoking. I didn’t really like the mom or the dad. I had a problem with the dad buying White Claws for his just turned 18 year old son. I didn’t give anything away. I didn’t love how they parented. Look at me – so judgey.

With that being said, I’m glad I read the book and it scared me even more about AI. It won’t be one of my favorites, but I did like it.
We ordered some take out for dinner and I got this Greek salad – it was unique.

Saturday morning I got up and out early to run some errands and I took a homemade breakfast burrito to go in my car – yum!

I went to Kroger to return stinky salmon – yes I did, to the library, and to Trader Joe’s. I ran into an old teaching friend at Trader Joe’s and that was so nice!
Look at my stack:

I started this and I am loving it!

At this point, I got hot! I changed into shorts and a t-shirt!

Eddie Otis did some sunbathing:

Mason ate lunch on the deck:

As if my day couldn’t get any better, these magazines arrived and my former student dropped off our Girl Scout cookies.

I filled up my bird feeders:

Around 5, Tom, Eddie Otis, and I drove downtown to walk around the NULU area, and it was hopping and there was literally no parking! I don’t know if something was going on or if the weather just brought people out. We ended up just driving along the river and getting some pizza for dinner. We are watching How to Get to Heaven from Belfast and watched an episode.
Sunday Tom and I ran an errand, but it was a lazy, lazy day. It turned cold again but I did go for a walk without a canine.
Don’t forget the March edition of Currently is this Wednesday:
Saving my life right now – sounds dramatic, but this is just what really adds light to your life,Cleaning/purging,Loving,Planning (trip wise),Taking a break from – are the prompts.
I hope you will join me!
What did you do this weekend?
Amy
That sounds like a real lovely weekend! I can’t believe you were in short and t-shirt at one point (we got snow flurries).

I have read Wuthering Heights twice- once as a young adult and once a few years ago when I realized I had forgotten a lot of it. It’s a pretty sad book if I remember correctly. Your activities all look nice! We had good weather on Saturday, too, and then Sunday was freezing and we’re under a weather advisory.

Yes, it is sad and frustrating. I had a really nice weekend. Same for us – we have a winter weather advisory today.

I don’t know which version of Withering Heights I saw a few years back but thought Cathy and Heathcliff were a little nuts. I read the book, ages ago, but don’t remember feeling that way after reading it. My weekend was quiet. My husband is out of the country so it’s me and these 3 crazy dogs who can be a handful. It has turned cold here in Virginia but should warm up on Wednesday, thankfully. Have a great week!

Oh, for sure. Oh, man. That is hard. It is cold again here, too. We have lots of rain coming this week, too, but that means it will be warmer. You too and hope hub gets home soon.

Your weekend looks lovely! Mine was busy and I was so exhausted.
Tom is so funny – between him and your boys, I think you have a book to write!
I want to see Wuthering Heights! I am so happy to hear you liked it so much. I never read the book either so I am glad to hear that’s not necessary.
Have a great Monday!

I am so sorry for your sad weekend. Are you getting my comments when I reply to the Substack emails? I hope so! Oh, that is so sweet to say.
No, I don’t think the book is necessary – in fact, the book purists might not approve if it isn’t the same. You should take yourself this week.

No, I haven’t seen your emails. I have seen responses from other people but not you.

Good morning and happy March and Monday! I love that you spent some time outside this weekend; I wasn’t dressed right for the warm weather. I should have changed clothes or thought about how hot it would actually be, but I didn’t. I will this week, though! It’ll be warm here all week. I love that you’re reading outside so much! I need to work on this after work and come home to spend time outside. I am so ready for the later sunsets and all this warm weather! I need a reading chair; I gave my zero gravity one away because I didn’t love it that much. I hope you enjoy your Monday!

Good am, friend! I hate that and it affects my mood greatly! Did you order “the jeans”? I have them on in my outdoor photo. Well, the outside reading has stopped again – we have snow today. Ugh! But, we have warmer temps coming along with a lot of rain this week. The time changes in less than a week now!
Oh, please treat yourself to a new chair! You will be so happy. You, too!

I felt the same about Culpability, both the parents and the AI piece. Definitely gets you thinking!! I just finished This Book Made Me Think Of You and I loved it. What a clever premise too. I love original plots. I have read Wuthering Heights but haven’t seen the movie. The Yorkshire Dales are one of the most beautiful places on planet Earth and I’d like to see the movie for the scenery alone. The book is dark and I don’t know why it’s sometimes billed as a love story. I reread it last year and I think the movie is different, but maybe I’d love it. I know I’d love the scenery. Sounds like you had a nice weekend and sunshine definitely makes it all better!

I think you should go to the theater! Maybe a daughter would go. It’s worth it just for that scenery.

We are almost out of Girl Scout cookies! Our youngest granddaughter sells them. Jennifer Weiner selected her to buy from this year! I’m really in need of some Tagalongs! I’m hoping to see Wuthering Heights today. I went to the museum for the first time in over a week. So much had changed, and one of my favorite pieces has been taken back to storage. Can’t wait for Currently!

This was the first I’ve seen of them this year! Wow! I can’t resist those but I can resist thin mints so I only buy those. Usually… we shall see if a Kroger stand tempts me.
You need to go! Let me know what you think.

I had to laugh at your stinky salmon. I had ordered salmon through my Walmart online order on Friday. When I put my groceries away, the whiff of the salmon almost knocked me out. I put it in the freezer right away as I did not want it to stink up the fridge. I was able to do an online return (no need to bring the item in the store) and the frozen salmon migrated to the trash bin last night to be picked up today. So much for eating salmon this week. Funny that it happened to you as well.

The Kroger lady told me I could do that online next time. There’s a stinky salmon epidemic!
Freezer was a good idea!

You guys need Life360. Scott and I don’t even text or call anymore for “where are you?” questions lol.
I listened to Ben Shapiro’s review of Wuthering Heights and that was pretty much all I needed to hear….it was scathing. Honestly though, the story itself seems really boring to me (you can come for me over that).
Sunday was definitely the nastiest weather day in awhile.

We can just track each other for free – never paid for Life360 with our kids. Tom just texts me out of routine or because he thinks it’s funny. It’s like 5:15 everyday. lol.
The story of wuthering heights is dark and bad but I loved the movie. Don’t yuck my yum, Ben! He and I will rarely have the same taste in media.

So glad the weather’s warming up for you after all that snow. I wasn’t sure about Wuthering Heights after reading a negative review, but it sounds beautiful. I’ll have to catch it while it’s still in theaters, they move to streaming so fast! With stunning scenery it’s definitely best on the big screen.

I thought the same thing about the parents in Culpability – unlikable and “bad” parenting.
