It’s Monday and time to link up with Holly and Sarah to share our weekends.

Weather-wise, we had a nice spring preview last week and now it’s winter again – for a couple of days and then we are supposed to get 60s by the end of the week. Ok, I can handle that. Do you think snow is done for the year? It could be for us, but we have had big snows in March before.

It’s the last week of February! Wow, did this month go by quickly!

I am trying to not go to the grocery this week. I went on Thursday and got pretty well stocked. I have been doing a spending diary this month and trying to have a low spend month, so I would like to be able to call my grocery total final.

I am working at getting EO to calm down outside. Sometimes he can’t help but bark at all the many noises he hears. I have been playing calming dog music, classical, or soft jazz in the house at the busy times of day and that really helps.

This was Thursday afternoon. I got him to lie down and relax!

It was so nice to see most of the snow gone! Wow! I can’t remember any time in my life where snow stuck around for over 3 weeks.

I am caught up on two shows – Love is Blind Season 10…

and Love Story.

They are dropping new episodes little by little which I kind of like.

I took a pretty long press on nail break and then put on this pale pink Thursday night after my shower. This is before filing and trimming. I can’t have my nails too long.

We loved getting out and seeing the sun Friday morning.

I had breakfast plans with my friend Kara at Highland Morning:

I got biscuits and gravy and only ate half and was still full until dinner.

And, I tried a few bites of their key lime pancake. It was so pretty and would be so perfect for St. Patrick’s Day but I didn’t love the flavor. It was definitely “breakfast dessert”.

We went to this gorgeous plant store! They had moved from downtown to near my house.

We each got a couple of new plants.

I put this guy in this cute container I already had.

I picked up library books:

Love going into the weekend with a fresh stack of books! I have loved this feeling since I was a child. I can still remember being in the children’s section of my hometown library.

EO tried to take not one, but two, stuffies outside!

We met friends at a speakeasy for dinner. It was so cool!

You know how you can never see the menu at a restaurant? They had this cool light up menu!

I slept in a little bit Saturday and woke up to Eddie Otis cuddling beside me.

I cleaned off his crate of all his accessories and our many dog towels.

I moved plants around, swept, mopped, and cleaned the mudroom.

I asked Alexa to play cleaning music and it was the best playlist! I loved every song! Try it out!

Here is my meal list for the week to get me through without going to the grocery again (I hope!):

Next to it is my February Goals list!

I spent a few hours cleaning and finally made my favorite breakfast that was more at lunch time. I am still hooked on this combo.

I didn’t go anywhere on Saturday! Can you believe it? I was happy at home. I guess since I had such a full day Friday I was content. Tom and I watched a new show, I read, we watched Olympics, and then I made a great dinner with a combo of leftovers and new things.

I made spinach salad with warm bacon dressing:

roasted carrots and a chicken sandwich for me with leftover chicken and a fish sandwich for Tom from my Friday night fish.

It turned super cold overnight and we even had some Sunday snow! I had a Target return and saw this Western themed section.

I spent some time reading this:

Tom and I watched a gumbo recipe and attempted another batch together!

It’s hard to believe, but it’s almost time for another Currently. It will be Wednesday, March 4 and here are the prompts (thanks to Jenn for her help!): saving your life right now, cleaning/purging, loving, planning (trip wise), taking a break from (since it’s Spring break month).

If you also do Hodgepodge, feel free to do them in the same post or you can do two different posts. Feel free to interpret the prompts any way you want.

What did you do this weekend?

Amy

  1. Your weekend looks like a good one! I do have a question and that is what makes a restaurant/bar a speakeasy? I thought they were bars open during prohibition as places to illegally get alcohol? Since the sale of alcohol is most definitely not prohibited nowadays, what makes a place a speakeasy? You got yourself a big plant! I love it!! Green in the house is always a good idea, I think! Have a great Monday!

    1. Very true about the speakeasies now – the modern day definition is probably just a darkly lit bar with a secret entrance. This one has a book shelf that you push open.
I want more plants! I am going to plant BINGO on Friday night!

  2. I may start start watching Love Story tonight because I keep hearing good things about it. I want to get some houseplants when I get my new place. I may need advice on what you have and works easily :). I love the light up menu!! Looks like a good weekend and hope you enjoy your Monday!

    1. The show is so good IMO. I am not the person to ask about plants and it’s kind of depressing that most of mine are from my mom’s and dad’s funerals. I have two peace lillies that are basically impossible to kill from 2018 and my Dad’s. I am trying to learn more. I am actually going to plant BINGO Friday night! See if you have a plant store in your area. I think a mix of faux and real can be good, too. Definitely when you get your new place, you will love having plants.
      You too!

  3. I’d love to have.a plant store like that one near me. You’ve got a good stack of books. I liked Culpability and it left you thinking. I’m still on the wait lst for The Correspondent. Sounds like a nice weekend with a good mix of activity and being at home which is how I like my weekends too. Happy Monday!

  4. I am going to have to check out the cleaning music playlist on Alexa! I think it’s so cool that you are trying to help EO calm down with music too. So interesting.

We had such a busy weekend with lots of fun things – saw a concert, a play, and yesterday I hosted Mah Jong!

    Happy Monday!

  5. What a great weekend! Your Friday was full and fun; I love that you stayed home on Saturday. Sometimes that’s nice to be out of the Saturday crowd. How did this batch of Gumbo turn out? I love that EO loves his stuffies so much. I cleaned this weekend, as well, especially yesterday when Chris left. I went to Mare’s for dinner, and came home to a freshly mopped house, thanks to my Jonah! I love that he did that, because I detest mopping. I’m ready for the week! Spring break will be here before I can blink, and I’m excited. We’re busy at school, getting ready to review for all the testing coming up. The days will pass quickly, I’m sure! Have a great day, my friend.

    1. It was! I should have done more yesterday because I felt a bit sad at the end of the day. Lol. Do you ever do that? The second batch was better but Tom didn’t love it. I was kinda mad because I don’t want gumbo in my life. He helped me make it, though.
Yay to a kid who mops! Yay to Marilyn for the meal and for lunch! I love to do that for my working friends.
Testing season! Ugh – both good and bad.

  6. You had a good weekend! I love the lighted menu, perfection. How did the gumbo turn out? The Correspondent was so good. I love the cover on your book, it fits the story so well! The Currently prompts are going to be fun! Have a great week!

    1. Thank you! Right – so needed in the dark restaurants. The second gumbo was definitely better but Tom didn’t like it enough to eat it again so we tossed it. Ugh. I think the cover might be different due to it being a large print book.
      Thank you!

  7. My daughter and I went to the San Antonio zoo yesterday. It was packed because it was local day ($8 entry fee). We saw the new gorilla exhibit that has been in the works for several years. I forgot how big a male silverback gorilla gets!! 😳 I don’t think I would want to be in charge of taking care of those guys!
