Linking up with Andrea and Erika to share some favorites and some comedies of errors from my week!

I like to do something fun on Sunday afternoon and Tom and I went to 3rd Turn Oldham Gardens Brewery which had a Christmas market and three different food stalls – pizza, bbq, and grill/bar food. It is the second largest beer garden in the country and the largest in Kentucky.

I purchased two of these painted oyster shells. I think they are so pretty for a jewelry holder or just decor.

Monday morning, we woke to this! I wasn’t expecting it but it was so pretty. The snow kept falling until about 9:00.

Eddie Otis was trying out doggy daycare and was getting evaluated. I dropped him off and went to a coffee shop.

I found my ring that had been lost for about a month! It was tucked in a pocket of my purse!

I had just settled in at the coffee shop when I got a call from doggy daycare. EO wasn’t having fun. He flunked out and I had to go pick him up. He liked one of the trainers and became besties with her but he was nervous with so many new people and dogs and he growled to let them know.

When I picked him up, his new bestie came out to the car with us, and he kept giving her his paw and giving her kisses. It was so sweet. We went home and he didn’t move for several hours. The experience was exhausting for him. I was hoping he would enjoy playing with other dogs.

I was supposed to go tutor that afternoon and my student was sick so that got cancelled.

I was making cod for dinner and I opened up the package and it smelled so bad that I had to throw it out. I did get a refund for my “bad cod” from Kroger. Yes, I did!

But, this was so nice…

a random phone number texted me to see if I wanted crocodile meat!

You just have to laugh at days like Monday. Luckily, I had a book I couldn’t put down:

I read it in two days! It’s been a while since I have had a book that I couldn’t put down. I am going slowly through my Christmas novel – not sure why.

I made these this week and sent them with Tom to work to try to help him be more popular – kidding!

It felt good to donate some clothes this week!

I am happy with my $7 Target candle. If you don’t have a real tree, just light a tree scented candle!

I’ve been using one of these each day! I really like them.

I went to World Market this week and I was so happy! Look what they have! I didn’t get them for myself because I was shopping for others but I think I might go back and get four.

They had so much good stuff!

I found lots of stocking stuffers and a few gifts.

I started this – Do you ever feel like someone is watching you?

This is my husband’s name! That was freaky! His middle name starts with a “J”!

The good news is that no kids are playing on the playground behind our house because the weather is so bad so EO and I have all day to go there.

The bad news is the weather sucks!

We’ve had ice, snow, the coldest rain you can imagine, and wind.

This was Tom’s plate one night. I made broccoli, potatoes, and chicken, but offered him a McDonald’s cheeseburger, too. I told him I wanted to always keep him on his toes and scare him a little. I am taking a broccoli break now. I have been making it so often and I’m tired of the smell.

I don’t know how much longer this is going on, but if you go into your Amazon orders and type in the search bar “thank my driver” you get an option to tip the driver $5! How cool is that?

Someone asked about coconut oil. I put it on my face before showering and I look like a glazed donut.

It melts your makeup right off and you wash your face normally in the shower but it leaves your skin so moist and soft.

If you are a blogger, I am having trouble commenting on some blogs; it’s telling me to “sign in with Google” and I try and it’s not letting me. But, others I am signed in with Google. I will try to figure this out!

Tell me a fave from your week!

Amy

  1. When I get those weird text questions by strangers, I always reply back, ¨yes.¨ Yes, I am Joan from yoga class! Yes, I do want to attend the cook out tonight! What can I bring? It throws them off but then they start engaging again. I close our ¨text talk¨ by telling them that Jesus loves them. Why not? It´s true. I love that Christmas tree board from the market. The cheat sheet built into it is everything!! I may look for one of those online. No, I will not do that- I have so many Christmas dishes and things already! Have a great weekend!

  2. I am having a hard time making it through Christmas books too; so far I have read 1 and started 2 others. But the rest of my reading is going swimmingly! World Market looks like such a neat store! I finished off my shopping yesterday at Kohl’s and Target and might have picked up more things for myself than others (though I did spend less on myself than others so there is that!).

  3. Poor EO, bless his heart at doggie daycare. It’s like having a child isn’t it? I remember taking our sweet Sophie to a dog park and thinking it would be so fun for her. Not. She looked up at us with sad, scared eyes like GET ME OUT OF HERE. She was just too old for that business.

I cannot believe your weather – whoa! Last night at our KD Christmas party I heard that schools in Louisville are closed for today because of weather. She is from there and has family still there.

I hope you have a great weekend!

  4. Oh no! Poor EO 😦 I know Remi would be the same way- we know how wonderful they are but they get so protective and nervous around other dogs and people- Rob and I say we failed- we didn’t make more of an effort to socialize him- maybe we will try again? Not sure but sad to read your story because it hits close to home. Ok I just started Mean Moms! So excited to see your review- loving it so far!

  5. Poor baby Eddie Otis! I can’t believe he was so nervous; did you anticipate that? I do remember him being a little skeptical of all of us when we met him this past spring. He’s such a sweet baby, though. Maybe he needs a baby sibling? I am such a firm believer in having two dogs to keep each other company. I laughed over your glazed donut comment; I do the same thing when I shower. I even take the extra oil and rub in down my arms and into my elbows every time. I’m so moisturized! That snow is beautiful; we have really cold weather coming this weekend…Sunday and Monday, I think. A favorite from my week was Sunday night when I went to the jazz concert at my church with Marilyn. I hadn’t seen her all weekend, and we were acting like teenagers talking and laughing while we caught up with each other. I always feel so refreshed after leaving her! I hope you enjoy your weekend, my friend. Much love!

    1. He’s been getting nervous about going in Feeder’s Supply, Home Depot – so yes.
I would like a second dog but Tom is really adamant about one dog. Kinda weird.
Fun to do that with M!
Yes, we are over the cold already!

      1. My Tom, too, was always, always adamant about “one dog” but then our daughter, who is living with us, got one (with permission). Although the dogs don’t really engage with each other – ours is 13 and just set in her ways – he’s seeing how it doesn’t add *that* much more work to our lives and we kind of like it. Maybe see if you can foster a dog or something – try it out? I really hope we stay with two now that we’ve experienced it.

And Amy, I’ll just finish my comment on this reply – I have such hit-and-miss problems with commenting on blogs sometimes. I can on my ipad, but not on my computer. Or I can on my computer but not on my phone. So strange. Believe it or not, it’s mainly your blog – I can’t tell you how many times I’ve written something out just to have it disappear and I give up :/. BUT, it’s worth it to keep trying 🙂

Have you all heard of substack? Hearing that that might be the next “blogging” platform.

      2. Two dogs can’t be harder than twins!
I follow a few on substack and I read that the advantage is mainly money! So you can charge for content! I find it harder to read on substack. I will look into my commenting on my blog and I have heard some people have trouble. I think if you are subscribed or using WordPress reader it’s easier. I hate Disqus. It is the worst.

  6. We had a yellow lab, Willie, and he got “excused” from a training class! Another lab went to doggie daycare and was injured. Had to have surgery and never really got over it. So, I’m not a fan of doggie daycare. Our vet did warn us about it but we ignored that warning. So, don’t feel badly about EO! We’re having really cold weather here in Virginia and I am over it! Please bring back the 50’s! Have a good weekend–

  7. Ugh. I could not deal with snow and I can barely handle cloudy grey days – they do a number on my psyche. I need that coconut oil trick for the winter. I wonder if it poses a problem to plumbing? I always get the driest skin and have to go through this whole process of slathering on a thin layer of vaseline before I get dressed. I feel like a baked potato afterwards.

    1. It sucks! I like it when it is falling and I like it whe it’s pristine but then it just makes life harder.
At first I thought you meant your human plumbing like constipation!
I use a very tiny amount and it turns to liquid in your hands, but that is a good question. I hope not!

  9. I bought eight of those glasses (or ones very much like them) at Hobby Lobby earlier this year. They’re so festive. We tried taking our dog to a place that boards and does day care that’s a farm type setting. They said our pup loved the people but the dogs not so much. We have a place that boards where he doesn’t have to socialize and that works well for him. I love the oyster shell! Have a great weekend!

    1. I didn’t see the glasses at HL! I’m still debating. The issue is that I am out of storage for glassware.
Yeah, I think the same with EO – he would prefer the people.
We get him a dogsitter to keep him at our house when the need arises.
Isn’t it pretty cool? There are ones with designs, too.
      You too!

  11. My favorites from this week will happen today and tomorrow. My niece gets married tonight, I go to a family reunion tomorrow and then my youngest flies home for the holidays from law school in Kansas! That is so crazy about your husband’s name in the book. I read a book that had multiple first names from my family. It was so weird! 😯

  12. We didn’t get any snow this week! The kids were disappointed.

I do love those glasses from WM. I might try to look for an after-Christmas sale.

I’m glad you got a refund on the fish. That’s so annoying. I got a refund for a bag of stale chips this week 🙂

I did put Mean Moms on hold after you endorsed it on IG. It’s like 14 weeks 🙂

    1. I have time to return fish now!
For the record I returned photos on my phone with the price label. No questions asked!
The book is salacious but you will probably enjoy the NYC school culture. Let me know.

  13. we haven’t had any sun in our neck of the woods in California for over two weeks and we got in the car yesterday morning for my yearly car service appointment over in San Luis Obispo and we are at the beach house until Sunday. Yesterday when we got here it was 74° and not a cloud in the sky! I went down and did a walk at the beach and it really did soothe my soul. I’m going to head out in a little bit and do another walk and breathe in every single bit of the sea air that I can. Also funny sidenote… If you live in California and you remodel or you change out any of your shower heads … They now all have regulators in them to conserve water. Well, when we remodeled our Beach House bathrooms few years ago… Our plumbers would not remove the regulators for fear of getting in trouble. Like seriously? Who is going to tell on a plumber? Not us! So anyway we found out that if you purchase showerheads in any other state… They don’t have regulators in them so we bought new showerheads when we were in Iowa in October. We’re getting them installed today! It’s the little things I tell you! Have a great weekend!

  14. World Market has the best finds! Poor EO! Albie does not play well with others, so I know what you mean. Luckily his boarding kennel knows his routine and takes him out on a leash instead of play time. Mollie on the other hand loves playtime. We are going to use doggie day care for her one day over the break when we will be gone all day. Albie will stay home since he likes to just veg out. Hope you have a good weekend.

  15. I really like your rain chain and want to get one. It even looks cool iced over! You seem to be getting into a routine with your retirement gig. And, did someone say snow? We got a bit last night, but it all melted away even though the day was cold. We’re supposed to get more tomorrow then be in the high 40s next week. Another green Christmas for us, I think. I am going to try the coconut oil because my lips just won’t stay moisturized. Are you having problems with my blog because I know several others are, too. I have problems with a certain one where I actually have to log out of WordPress, then make sure I don’t let it prefill everything and start all over again. Technology!

  16. You do such a good job getting out and about. Those oyster shellls are so pretty! When I saw your world market glasses pic, I immediately looked to see if we have a world market. We do! Now I’m adding that to my errands today. Poor EO! I bet he was tuckered out. Homer hasn’t been to daycare in a while, but he seemed to like it the few times we took him. Same with dog park…it’s either hit or miss for him.
