Spoiler – I have already done some of them since this post is late!

I will do another one for Winter in general!

These are just the fun things that go along with the true meaning of Christmas. Those are obvious so I am not listing those.

Go to holiday open houses/events – when I see announcements I put them in my calendar and try to go

Go to hotel lobbies to see decor (sounds weird but they always have beautiful decor) – not talking about Best Western, you know? The Brown, The Seelbach, The Omni, Hotel Genevieve – those are some I could go to in my city of Louisville, KY

Have a drink in said hotel lobby bar for bonus points

Go to Miracle on Market – holiday pop up bar that is so kitschy and the drinks are $$$

Do festive nails

Go to Whirling Tiger – went last year and I was delighted. It looks like your Grandma’s 70s living room. They had adult juice pouches called “Naughty” or “Nice”. I’m a sucker for stuff like that.

Re-read the Fiona Ferris Christmas book

Read Christmas or seasonal novels

Have a fire in the Solo Stove outside

Add more lighting to my dark living room for the evenings

Go through Christmas decor and donate what doesn’t make my heart sing

Buy all the seasonal products that make me happy – hand soap, kitchen cleaner, cranberry Sprite, etc.

Make gift list and buy gifts

Turn my errands into outings and include/ask a friend or make a date of it with Tom

Wear my festive clothing, headband, and earrings

Make baking list, buy supplies, enjoy baking while watching a Christmas movie

Watch all my faves – The Holiday, While You Were Sleeping, etc.

Wrap presents leisurely while watching movies

Make holiday plans – plan the activities and itinerary for the Airbnb with my side of the family

Plan meals and make grocery lists

Get my yearly one Chick Fil A peppermint shake

Get my yearly one Starbuck’s peppermint mocha

I think that’s it! What’s on your list?

  1. I´m sadly not a list maker just a ¨things swirling around the ´ol brain¨ kind of person so I have no list but I´ve thought of a couple of these and you´ve given me some good ideas. So thank you! One thing that I want to do is some holiday crafting- nothing complex or requiring a high degree of artistic talent or robust fine motor skills or anything like that. My girls like to do some simple (I think that was the word I was looking for!) crafts as well so I´m going to be on the lookout for things like for us to do when they come home.

  2. The timing of this post is GREAT! I put some things on my list as I was reading :). I have gotten my peppermint mocha (actually two now) and forgot about CFA’s shake – maybe I’ll do that for lunch today! I ordered some Christmas socks – does that count for “holiday wear”??? Finally put ornaments on the tree which seemed to inspire my other half to put lights outside – I’m going to call this “good enough and DONE” – ha! And YOU’VE inspired me to get the holiday scents in my house with candles and soaps :). Thanks for the holiday inspiration this morning.

  3. A fun list! Unfortunately my next ten days will be very busy as I need to wrap up the year work-wise. These annoying bits that should’ve happened weeks ago, but did not 🙂 I am looking forward to 19 December when the fun will start.

  4. I need to make my baking list and shop for those ingredients for this weekend. My friend and I are doing our annual cookie baking on Sunday. I am hoping to go to Miracle on Orange this weekend – it’s like your pop up bar. I do love wrapping gifts while watching Christmas movies!

  5. Right now, the number one thing on my list is getting at least one Christmas tree up! I started decorating and then lost my sparkle. It’s coming back so I’ll do the little I want and keep things for one more year to see if they’re something I still want.

  6. These are great goals! I wrapped gifts while watching The Holiday yesterday. I didn’t quite finish the movie but I know I have more gifts arriving by the weekend so I can either finish it then or finish it today and start watching While You Were Sleeping later.

  7. I love this! I love your festive nails and am going today to do something with mine. I love a good bucket list and want to do one for myself soon. It’s so good to be intentional with time! I need to do this more since I work all the time now. I plan on doing lots of blog work over the winter break, too…I’m excited to have time to devote to that. I feel like so many of my posts these days are just half hearted and quickly thrown together. We need to talk soon about the Currently link party!

  8. Your post reminded me to revisit my fall list. You have some fun festive things on your list. I think having some goals helps us enjoy the moments and not get too caught up in all the chaos and crazy this season wants to throw at us. Happy December!

  9. I am typically a list maker but have never created a goals list. I do love your seasonal goals lists and the intentionality of them! I will have to give it a try! You’ve got some fabulous holiday goals – I may have to steal a few!

  10. I love the sound of the Holiday open houses. I just had to Google what they were. What a great idea and visiting hotel lobbies too. This is such a fab list! I hope you get to do everything!

  11. I made a very unimpressive list but there’s a few non-negotiables every year: gingerbread house, advent calendars, trip to see Santa 🙂 Those are the 3 consistent things I can always do for the kids.

I will do hopefully do my nails in the next week lol.

  12. Your list is much like mine, except I think I may be like Maria with ideas swirling in my head. 🙂 I’m also letting go of decorations that don’t bring me joy. However, Michael took some of the sentimental decorations that I don’t display anymore and put them in his “man cave.” So now his room looks like a mix of preschool craft projects and 90’s decorations!

  13. I love these! I am going on a Christmas home tour this weekend. I want to have a fire soon. I just haven’t done that yet. I need to do it before it gets any colder! I do love visiting hotels at the holidays. The time is just going by so fast!

  14. I love the idea of going to hotel lobbies! I took some pictures with a friend last week in a hotel lobby with us in PJs and it made the pictures so much fun. We live in a small town so we met in Marietta but oh, Atlanta would have some cool ones! I have been enjoying some fun activities with my kiddos and also with friends! It’s been a nice holiday season so far.
