This week flew by! Did you have a good week? I am linking up with Andrea and Erika to share some faves! I know my Tuesday post kind of read like a Friday Favorites, but it was all about the little things that are saving my life right now! Go back and check it out if you missed it and make your own list, too! I really enjoyed the comments on that post, too.

Thanks for being here! I haven’t said that for a while. I am really having fun blogging lately and having more time to do so has made it even more fun!

I enjoyed one of my cans of Trader Joe’s peach wine one night while dinner was cooking. Always put it in the pretty glass!

This week held hair day! I always do my makeup so I don’t scare myself looking in the mirror. I get highlights and now that I am seeing some grays I am doing lowlights to cover those up.

It’s not just hair day, but it’s catch up with my stylist Laura day. She is so fun to talk to and is also like a therapist. She’s my hairapist.

I sent my hair day selfie to Tom and…

Unbeknownst to me, he had hair day, too! He doesn’t like to tell me when he has a haircut appointment because hair is a sensitive subject for him but aren’t we in synch? N’sync?

Grown men taking selfies is weird, no? I can’t take one either, though.

Let’s talk about Mah Jong. I took a lesson at the beginning of June and haven’t played since. I have seen leagues you could join for $300 and events that were really pricey and I didn’t want to pay that amount or commit.

My friend found out about a free play at Captain’s Quarters (we go there all the time, close to home, on the river) and I went and I was mortified as I had forgotten all the rules. Also, we played with tiles that looked different from the ones we learned on. The beginning of the game where you discard and pass to the right and pass to the right takes a sweet forever. Then the game starts and some people are super slow. I just don’t know if I like it that much. I like Euchre. I like Rummy. I like Go Fish. I like Slap Jack. I also would rather play during the day when I can focus more. I was fading as 8:00 approached.

So, a favorite is that I am glad I tried again and went to this free play but I am not sure it’s for me. Chime in if you have opinions!

I definitely do not want to be a sheep and just play it because everyone is doing it!

I found this book really cute!

Then, I went back to WWII Paris!

I had a Crumbl gift card with some money left on it so I bought this Fruity Pebbles cookie…

and this M&M cookie.

I think there’s something weird about Crumbl that I can’t pinpoint. I don’t plan to go back unless I have a gift card. It has an artificial aftertaste? I’m not sure. Mason and I split them over a couple of days. So, I didn’t have trouble eating them; I’m just making an observation. I mean even a bad cookie is still a cookie, no?

Tomato soup and grilled cheese hit the spot for dinner one night this week…

Tom and I are trying the Scandinavian way. We bought two twin sized comforters and duvets for our bed. I am so happy with this print and I think it looks really good in my room. I will take an updated photo soon of the whole room. It’s not quite done but it’s getting there.

It turned cold this week. EO and I got out early and it felt so good!

My shadow…

Tom’s lap dog…

I have been watching Real Housewives of London through an app called Hayu using a VPN. Yes, Amy understands all this now. It is not shown in the US so this is what I had to figure out. Look at the striped jeans one lady is wearing.

Mason went to Kroger with me on Sunday. I had no inspiration for meals. Nothing sounded good. Nothing looked good.

So, we basically just bought snacks.

Bacon was $9.49.

I did a black mani that will hopefully last til Halloween. I decided not to go with any fun mani this year because I couldn’t find one I really liked.

If you haven’t watched Season 1, get on it! It’s so cute. Mason loved it, too. We are so excited to start Season 2.

Die, mosquitoes!

I grabbed this from my Facebook memories. I have not made it yet this season but plan to make it soon.

I need to get on some of my fall bucket list items!

Do you have fall plans this weekend?

How was your week?

Amy

  1. Funny enough I had a haircut yesterday morning and my husband had one last night too! I feel the same way about Crumble… but like you said even a bad cookie is still a cookie but they are definitely not a favorite. I feel like they have a fake/plastic-y taste or aftertaste. I do have plans this weekend! Alec’s coming home (just for an overnighter) but we’re heading to see the immersive Monet exhibit and I am so excited!

  2. I love tomato soup and grilled cheese. We buy lots of snacks every time we go to Kroger lol
I’m glad it’s chili and soup season as I can add those into the rotation. A girl I follow on Instagram (Lauren bown) is all about the Scandinavian sleep way. I just need Trav to snore less 🀣I hope you have a great weekend.

  3. Your fall in a cup recipe is one of my favorites!

Mah Jong, so many rules and while I don’t find it fun yet I am determined to figure it out. I am very fortunate that a few sorority sisters are like pros and have multiple sets so we get together each month an play. I feel like it’s good for my brain!

Hairapist cracked me up but you’re right! People tell their hair stylists everything!!!

    Have the best weekend!

    1. Thank you!
Yes, that makes sense about Mah Jong but I just don’t know if I care anymore. I don’t have a lot of friends who play so there’s that.
      Ha!
      You too!

  4. There are so many great things to comment on! I decided to go dark brown with my Halloween nails this year instead of black, but I will always love black. Is yours a little matte? I love the pictures of EO; he’s so big! I don’t necessarily have fall plans this weekend, but I’d also like to work on some of my fall bucket list. I can’t remember if I ever did a post about that? I don’t think I did. Maybe I’ll just make mine in my journal this year. I enjoyed fall things last night after work: I had soup for dinner (I was home alone most of the night), I had my fall candles burning, and I watched a couple of cute fall Hallmark movies that played as I worked on my blog. It was a lovely night! I hope you have a great weekend, my friend!

    1. Thank you! I love your brown nails! All things brown! It was just bad lighting – it’s pretty shiny. Thank you! You could see if your town has any events? I need to go see decor that has been put out at a few places. Even those little fall things at home are so great to me! Thank you! I got some great news this week!

  5. Oh my word- there is some keystroke on my Chromebook that erases everything that I’ve written and I was in the middle of a long comment and then everything disappeared :(. I’ll condense this. It’s funny that we both talked about hair day; I don’t like to go to the salon though I understand why many women do. I don’t have a stylist and I hate to spend a lot of money for my hair looking good for a short time. Your cart is funny! Mine has looked liked that when I go to the store with my young adults in tow!! Kroger prices are cray cray though I know they’re high everywhere. I’m having major problems with my Kroger card that no one can figure out so I’ve been shopping exclusively at Aldi and Walmart. It’s cheaper but I do miss Kroger’s sales and nice(r) ambiance, lol. Have a great weekend!

    1. I hate that – so sorry!
The hair salon is really the only beauty I splurge on and my stylist has very reasonable prices. It’s only $80 for a partial highlight which is what I get. The snacks are big with the kids and Tom. I don’t eat most of it and anything bbq and I am out so that’s good for me.
shoot – sorry about that. Kroger is right by my house and the pick up is just so easy. I do know I can find some deals when I go in but it’s usually not on what I had planned.

  6. Fall plans this weekend include watching college football but not sure what else yet. My family is not wild about Crumbl cookies. My girls say they are too sweet and that is coming from my middle kid who has a serious sweet tooth!

  7. I’m with you on mah jong, mahjongg, mah jongg, mahjong – who knew there were so many different spelling variations – anyway, yes, there are way too many rules. I joined a group before I started working and I always felt like I was holding up the game. We had a whole book of rules, no-one could ever remember all of them! And, yes again, Crumbl cookies do have an artificial aftertaste. I can get better cookies at my local supermarket and much cheaper.

  8. It sounds like a good week.Your hair looks fab and yes, I always find it weird when men take selfies. heheheI like the sound of Mah Jong but it does seem like a slow game. The cookies look good but that is a shame about the artificial aftertaste.

  9. There is a fruity pebble flavor at my yogurt place. I tasted it just out of curiosity, but I always get my regular flavors. I could get behind a M&M cookie, but Crumbl isn’t my favorite either. I am not on the Mah Jong train either. I can’t commit to that and sourdough, ha! Your cart had me laughing. I basically snacked for dinner, which is common unless I go out somewhere.

    1. The Fruity Pebbles were kind of stale tasting. I have had a Fruity Pebble Rice Krispie treat (my little market nearby makes them) and they are 100% IMO. So many commitments! Sourdough is like owning a pet! Lol.

  10. It must have been hair week! I got a haircut (no fashion colors this time) and discovered my new curling iron has been burning my hair. So, the yellow I thought was due to our bad water is actually burnt hair that will just have to grow out (or be covered with color the next time). I’m trying to grow out my bangs which means the next time or the one after that, I’ll have her cut them again. She’s definitely not my hairapist, though. She’s kinda edgy and fun so we usually just talk things we’ve seen on tv. I don’t get Crumbl cookies, either. I mean, first there’s the cost. Then, there’s the size which is just nuts. But, they’re not even that good. It’s just the hype I guess. My cookies are definitely better. I guess I will stick with the Mah Jong I play on my iPad!
