I had a really good weekend! Let’s link up with Sarah and Holly to share! And all of a sudden, it’s looking and feeling like fall here in Louisville, Kentucky!
What about you? Did you have a good weekend? Is it looking and feeling like fall? And, just like that we only have eleven days left of the month! Talk about scary!
Let’s go back to Thursday. It was Brunette Heather’s birthday and we knew we weren’t going to be able to go to dinner as couples for a few weeks so we spontaneously did a brunch during Brunette Heather’s workday. She works from home and we picked a place close to her house.
As a reminder, I met both of these girls on day one of college. Well, I met the blonde at orientation in July and then we decided to room together. Then, we met the other one like day one and we have been tight ever since. We all live within a few miles of each other now.
It was so lovely out and we sat on a patio! After we ate we went across the street to a couple of little boutiques. I went home and napped! Tom came home from work, we ate Mexican lasagna for dinner, and that was that.
Friday I went to Trader Joe’s – it had been a few weeks!
I bought these brie bites and the best rice cake I have ever tried. Seriously. Both of these will be repeat buys!
Even though I like pumpkin, I didn’t enjoy it in this kringle.
I didn’t like cinnamon bun nearly as much as brown sugar so I am going to stick with my Starbuck’s brand creamer from Kroger since brown sugar is gone from Trader Joe’s now.
I love this salad mix and I had this for lunch with Trader Joe’s already cooked chicken on Friday.
Fig butter for grilled cheese and raspberry to go with the brie bites…
Jack came home to do laundry, and I made lunch for him and he and Mason spent some nice time together all afternoon. I offered to buy them dinner if they went out together because neither of them had plans. This has been a big change for both of them, and I will never understand the twin bond but it’s a special thing. I remember Gretchen Rubin saying her parents paid for her sister to travel to her and vice versa so I try to help with that bond when I can.
Tom almost always says “yes” to my schemes. He had had a long week at work, but I wanted to go to this bar in the river/on the river before it closes at the end of October…
I do feel that going out on a Friday (even briefly) makes you feel like you had more weekend.
You can park your boat there or go by car and we went by car. I had a delicious blackberry margarita.
They had an authentic-ish Mexican food stand on one end of the bar. Ok!
Neither of us felt really confident that the floating barge bar would hold up but sometimes you have to live on the edge.
We saw the most gorgeous sunset from the bar. The drive home with the horse farm fences and the sky darkening was gorgeous, too.
This little outing made me so happy! Maybe I am a quality time person instead of words of affirmation person now?
Tom brought me home a new laptop! His work allows them to buy old phones and laptops. He was worried about my lack of Ls on my old laptop even though I bought a new keyboard. My new laptop is so nice!
I woke up Saturday and immediately went outside. Then, I decided to spend some time reading outside and it was a nice way to start the day. Saturday is my day off from Eddie Otis – lol.
He hung out on the porch with me for a bit and then he got to have a field trip with Daddy. I balanced so much cleaning with a bit of self-care and reading before they returned home…
Tom had to mow before the rains came and then he blew some leaves and Eddie Otis “helped”. Eddie Otis was beside himself when Tom climbed up on the garage roof to blow leaves and clean gutters. He just didn’t know how to get to Daddy to “help”. Yes, we do call ourselves “Daddy” and “Mommy” to Eddie Otis. What are you even doing if you don’t? Also, what do people do without a dog?
We did sheets, more cleaning inside, watched some football, and all kinds of boring things and then Tom and I went to my favorite street to get a gift from the bookstore and to eat at our favorite pizza place currently. We usually just order it but we wanted to go eat there.
We came home and watched a bit of tv and then woke to rain yesterday…
I lit my new Trader Joe’s vanilla pumpkin…
Tom and I ran a couple of errands together, but it was a cold, windy, lazy Sunday for us!

Those sunset photos are incredible! I woke to rain today and am having the hardest time motivating myself to get to the gym now…. It sounds like a lovely weekend. We had really beautiful weather this past weekend. I wore my new sweater dress with some boots and a scarf and by noon I had to change because I was far too warm in it.

Thank you! I’m at the gym now! It isn’t raining but it turned cold so I found my coziest jacket. Love staying home when it rains.

You did have a great weekend and those photos of the sunset are stunning! Lately we have been staying in on Fridays but I think we need to get out. You are so right about how it really extends the weekend.
I can feel the slight change in our morning weather that signals fall but it is still 86 in the afternoon. The good news is that it’s comfortable enough to eat outside and that brings me so much JOY!!!

I haven’t seen enough sunsets! It was too late for me! Lol. I know – it’s a hard call on a Friday. You are getting into your best weather! We just need one frost and the mosquitoes will die!

It rained almost all day yesterday and is cold today. Yesterday we watched church from home rather than ¨brave¨ the rain, lol (so wimpy I know!). I had to go out to take A back to college but other than that, I was home. Your weekend looks really nice. Beautiful sunset and lots of quality time with friends and family. Have a great Monday!

We didn’t get the rain they said we would but it was super windy and cold. It was a nice day to stay mostly at home. Sorry you had to brave that!

It is fall here too! Those sunset pictures are so pretty. I need to go to Trader Joe’s for some fall goodies before they leave. I am not home much, so it is good I don’t have a dog at this stage. I think that is so fun that you live so close to your college friends. Were they sorority sisters too? Happy Monday friend!

Def. get the apple salad, brie bites, and rice cakes. Those will be repeats! No, I couldn’t do a dog alone. There’s no way. I just always think he takes up so much time we wouldn’t know what to do without him.
One was a KD and the other was a Sigma Kappa – how dare she? She played sports ball and they had more of the lady jocks.

What a great fall weekend! I love the look of that bar on the river, with the floating barge. That was a beautiful sunset! Watching sunsets makes me so, so happy. I need more of that in my life, and I need to figure out a good spot to watch here in my town. There’s one that I know of about thirty minutes away from me, but it’s a drive and sometimes I’d like to do that spontaneously. Brunch with the Heathers sounded like fun, too! I don’t know that I realized that you met them both on the same day. That’s such a great story! Lifelong friends are the best. I missed you last week! Happy Monday, friend. xoxo

I haven’t had many sunsets since I am not usually out that late – lol. Now they are more doable in my life. That would be a good goal for next weekend!

we do just fine without an animal 😂 plus we like to be gone to the coast and travel so we never have to worry about finding doggy care and cleaning up after them! I figure taking care of my husband counts as having an animal! 😂😂

I love your boots in the first picture! So cute with a skirt. I hosted a bridal shower for my niece on Saturday. My husband and son took our dog out for an adventure. Apparently he loves swimming and we didn’t know that! I am laughing at the footprints they left all over the floor. 🤣

Anyway, EO is so cute, and yes we call ourselves mommy and daddy too. The brie bites are so good, and they have them at Costco too. I don’t buy them though, because I like them TOO much! I do similar things with the kids. When they visit each other, I tell them the restaurant meals are on us.

I hate when that happens and I just give up! I think I will need to watch the brie bites, too. Although one was quite satisfying cut up in a salad.

it’s rough when TJ stops stocking a seasonal item! One of my sons and I loved the maple pancake corn puffs, and when I went to buy more yesterday – no longer stocking them. I know they had the Dubai chocolate a few months ago, and while an associate told me they’d restock in the fall, so sign of it yet.

Congrats on the new laptop! After using a non-Mac for work the last few years, I can see myself going to a non-Mac next time. Macbooks are overrated.
We 100% refer to ourselves are mom and dad concerning dogs and always have lol. They are not our “children” though. That’s a step too far.
I have bought that salad mix every time I see it. The regular grocery used to carry an apple/cheddar salad mix that was so good.
Looks like a very fun and extroverted weekend!
