It’s already Thursday and time to link up with Kellyann and Jill.

Loving my new leopard Mary Janes but darn it, it’s 2025 – why can’t we make shoes that don’t rub your heel. I put a piece of duct/duck tape on the back. Classy!

I got a pedicure last week because I am still showing the toes sometimes. I really like this color but I have already chipped one toe and I messed up the big toe when I removed the toe separator.

I’m going to go back and get them fixed this week.

And, this is my current press on mani. I bought Olive and June brand press ons and it was a disaster. Impress brand for life.

These are my burgundy velvet Mary Janes from Spain. They were pinching the toes a bit so I did the old ice in a baggie in the freezer for 24 hours trick and it worked!

Yes, yes I do want to wear Mary Janes! Do you remember me telling you a year ago how many Spanish women were wearing these?

I wore this outfit in order to match the leopard:

Straight leg Halaras, new black boutique blouse by Umgee, and Dolce Vita leopard Mary Janes. Sorry I cut off the feet but you can see the photo of the Mary Janes above. I like the contrast of a light jean with a black top. I wore this to run an errand.

Boy, I am getting my money’s worth out of this Umgee blouse below. I wore this to the distillery event last Saturday. It was going to get pretty warm so I did sandals with my medium wash Halaras. You tired of seeing me in this outfit yet?

I wish I had taken a better picture but on Sunday I wore the tiny pumpkin tee with my pink sweater for the breast cancer fundraiser punkin’ chunkin’ event. Most people try to wear pink. It was pretty warm so I did flip flops.

Monday I broke out the Amazon pocketed flare leggings/yoga pants that could almost be a dress pant, my Halloween tee, and my scalloped cardigan. You need both the pants and the cardigan in your life. They are both excellent Amazon buys. I got to thinking I needed to start wearing my Halloween tee or I would run out of time! By the way, the pants and the cardigan come in multiple colors.

I had a dinner out on Monday night and got to wear my new blouse with my Walmart mini skirt and my new banana boots! The blouse is Umgee from a local boutique (I swooned when I saw the print) and the skirt was like $12 from Walmart! The boots are Frye & Co. I measured my calves and ordered the wide calf version but I am right on the border. The real leather Fryes are $500 and these were $140.

They gap a little bit but I think the regular calf would have been uncomfortable. The other nice think about wide calf is that I think they don’t come up as far to your knee. I have had boots before that came up too close to my knee.

Remember when I said I was going to try not to shop this month? Yeah, I don’t remember that, either. Let’s go with that.

I placed an order from Old Navy for a Christmas graphic tee (I got to thinking about having one after receiving my Halloween one) and happened upon these little elastic waist skirts, too.

I got black and maroon.

Since I am 5’4, I got the regular and it will hit me a little lower than you see on the model, which is what I want.

The graphic tee:

I think I can wear the skirts with my boots and the graphic tee will be fun under a cardigan.

I took a trip to DSW the other day and I was pretty shocked that the boots and booties look the same as the boots and booties of the last several fall/winter seasons. I need to replace my dressier black suede bootie because mine were too worn. I haven’t found the ones I want yet, though.

Remember my fall shoe post?

I didn’t show you many black shoes but they are a necessity and they look great when one is wearing a black pant or jean. It makes a continuous leg line.

I love these booties below so much that I ordered a second pair when my first was showing too much wear and tear. These are teacher approved. I love that I can wear them sockless and slip them on. They are by Lucky:

They have tiny little perforations and I like that they are a little bit western.

I also have these booties:

I have two other pairs that aren’t shown here – one is a light brown Jack Rogers brand and the other is a gray/tan that might look dated.

Do you have a shoe horn? If you have any boots or booties that are harder to put on, you need a shoe horn.

I am glad I have kept my very old Target suede look/slightly Western vibe boots, too.

I have these in black, too. See, sometimes I do make Target exceptions and they pay off! The heel on this isn’t too high, either.

I think I have basically made myself a fall capsule, you guys. I might do a post on it.

What have you been wearing? Shopping for?

Amy

  1. The leopard mary janes and that polish color are to die for and perfect for fall! The booties are such a great investment too!

  2. LOVE your Monday night dinner out outfit. The boots are great. I don’t find myself wearing boots as much as I used to. I used to wear ankle boots all the time to school, but even in the winter, I now reach for flats or even nicer tennis shoes. I do love boots though and in the fall I love a dress with tall boots…just don’t get to wear them often.

    1. Thank you! That was my fave outfit of the week. Same. I was just not wearing many boots or booties last year. Same – flats or sneakers. I feel like I can wear boots now since I’m not teaching. Perfect Keeneland outfit for you this fall – dress and tall boots!

  3. You are such a bad influence! I just ordered that scalloped cardigan and those yoga pants. I have that exact same black bootie and wore mine yesterday. They are so comfy for a full day wear… and not many of my shoes are.

      1. I’d say good; my husband would say bad. LOL He’d remind me I was just complaining that I don’t have enough room in my closet for all the new pants (from Halara!) and my old sweaters I pulled out of storage. But it’s a good problem to have!

      2. I sent the whole first order back and then ordered all the exact same pants in a large. I love them… but I haven’t worn them all yet. I will have to pull a post together with just them soon.

  4. So many cute outfits this week! I love the boots with the skirt and I will never tire of your Halaras and Umgee blouses!

Your toes look so pretty with that fall color.

I have a hard time with shoes rubbing my heels, you might try mole skin instead of duct tape. I have one foot that is a half size smaller than the other and it makes it hard to get a good fit.

  5. I want a pair of Mary Janes – thanks for the inspiration!

I don’t need any more nail polish, yet you always show me something I don’t have that I want 🙂

I bought those exact banana boots the first time you showed them to us. They were too narrow in my left foot so I sent them back – I loved the color and style so much – will keep my eye out for something else like them.

I don’t *need* another skirt in my closet I won’t wear but those Old Navy skirts are really cute!

Have you tried Toms booties? I believe I have black suede ones from them. I really like their booties and sandals!

Have you tried moleskin instead of duct tape for your heals? My kids used to use it in their soccer cleats and I just recommended it for a friend who bought new tennis shoes and the tongue was rubbing the top of her foot.

And a million “yes’s” to that scalloped sweater – I bought one and immediately ordered another (I don’t need any more cardigans either). Love the weight, the look. . .we’ll see how they wash but so far a big fan.

Just ordered the Amazon yoga pants with pockets – I *do* need something (besides jeans) that are “in between” athletic and office wear. I have a navy pair that I think are similar so will try these too – thanks for the link!

I certainly did not know I had so much to say about clothes!! I think you have inspired me to pay attention to what I’m wearing, trends, and to try new things! Thank you!!!

    1. I love this comment!
I used to have some moleskin and I couldn’t find it. Might have to buy more.
I would love to get the scalloped cardigan in another color. We will see what feels like a hole in my closet as fall goes on.
I just love when I make a good purchase. It makes me feel justified.
I am sorry about the banana boots. The foot part was quite snug but it loosened up as I wore it. For some reason that color spoke to me and I showed my sister and she swooned so it made me happy. I have one sister who is pretty utilitarian with her clothes – jeans, tennis shoes, tees and one who is artistic and creative with her clothes so she is the one who is more fashionable.

    1. The Spanish women were so stylish and they all were wearing the velvet ones! I don’t own that shade but found it at the salon. I hope they have it! I think it’s perfect for this time of year.

  6. I just ordered the black cardi. For some reason the black was half the price of some of the other colors which was nice. Hope you have a great day!

  7. I really want a pair of velvet Mary Jane’s now! I’m just gonna have to google to find them! What is the ice cube trick? I might need that. You can wear the Umgee and Halara look all the time, and I’ll still like it! I really need a pedicure because half my toenails are nekkid!

    1. I put water in a baggie and then it froze and stretched the shoe! The velvet Mary Janes are everywhere and I’m feeling really good bc I predicted it last season. Go me! Well, thank you! Wish I could get Umgee and Halara to call me! Oh no! No nekkid toes!

  8. Lol! I think I am done with my no shopping myself! I need a pedicure so bad and was on the way to one last week when I had to detour to my parents then the hospital as my mom ended spending most of the week at the hospital. I am praying she is good for a while and it was just a fluke. She is on a heart monitor as they couldn’t find anything, Anyhow, love the Mary Janes, they can look so elegant with jeans and everything else. Glad the ice cube trick worked!

    1. Fall is just such a good time to shop! Even my consignment stores are starting to reduce their fall stuff! So fun. I am so sorry about your mom. I will pray for you that she is all good. Thank you! I put water in a baggie and then it froze and stretched the shoe!
