It’s Monday and it’s link up day with Sarah and Holly to share our weekends!

Let’s go back to Thursday – trying to make Thirsty Thursday a thing where I water and care for my plants!

I made Thursday an errand day – Kroger pick up and library – so not too bad – then it was a day doing home chores before the weekend.

I took my new Birk dupes out for a test run…

I am not a big scary book/mystery book person but I grabbed this on a whim with my other library requests…

Thursday night Tom came straight from work and met me and our friends Mike and Beth to hear our new Australian/Nashville singer at the tavern…

Friday was a birthday lunch for Heather and her neighborhood group of girlfriends (and the other Heather and I) and we had a lovely table in a lovely outdoor area. I can’t wait to go back. It was held at an old Louisville institution 211 Clover Lane.

This cake is a classic from another Louisville staple Plehn’s Bakery.

It is the best cake!

Do you remember on Friday when I showed my brow products?

Here is my before…

After…

And, no I don’t think I dare risk the more permanent brow situations. I am fine with my products.

Friday night we got take out and it was a bit of a disaster because I picked it up and then had to go back and get the part that was missing. Better than cooking! Ha!

Saturday was a big day for both Eddie Otis and I. I knew Tom was going hiking with his friend Rob two hours away but I didn’t know he had invited EO! EO turned out to be a great hiker boy and Mommy (me) had a quiet house from 8-4. Is that mean to say? I was super happy to see him when he returned, though!

Switching back to first person… I just read outside most of the day! I did keep doors open and shoes strewn about – FREEDOM! But, around 2 pm, I went to Word Market and a boutique.

The Christmas stuff is out big time! There is a bit of autumn stuff, too, but it there Christmas stuff is out and I adore so much of it.

Did I buy this top? Come back Thursday!

My baby got home!

He hung out on the porch with me for a bit and then we ordered Thai food.

I finished this Saturday night! Whoa! I don’t know what I think. Did anyone read it?

Then, I started this even though it had summer in the name…

And, I started this series that Jenn raves about…

I made two new recipes for Sunday breakfast…

British sausage in puff pastry – wow!

Hawaiian cinnamon buns… wow!

This week dinners –

Monday – weekend food – anything remaining

Tuesday – chicken  enchiladas with Spanish rice

Wednesday – roast with carrots, onion, potato (temps are supposed to drop)

Thursday – baked fish and not sure about sides yet – might need a quick grocery trip

What was the high point of your weekend?

Amy

P.S. – I am waiting on my new keyboard and my issues are making it hard to respond to your wonderfu comments. I am out of synonyms for words that have a certain etter in them. It’s exhausting, but I am continuousy ooking for brain chaenges now that I am not teaching. So, I guess this is good for me.

  2. I just requested that Alice Feeney book from the library – I hope it comes! I put an end date of 12/20 so hopefully it will show up at my door.

I love that EO is such a good hiking dog. Something special for EO & Tom.

Your breakfast recipes look so good!

  3. How wonderful to have such a nice Saturday with no EO! I know that sounds bad, but I get it; I had the same here this weekend. Jonah was out of town, and his brother and then his dad took his dogs this time since I had them the last time. I appreciated their help in this! But I was glad to see them last night when my ex brought them back home. That breakfast food looks amazing! I wish I could read…I’m so jealous of this. Maybe I’ll be able to next week while I’m on vacation. I charged my Kindle in anticipation! Let me know what you think of that book; I hope you love the series as much as I’ve loved them. I’ve read them all over again so many times! Happy Monday, friend. xoxo

    1. It really was! Thank you!
I wish that for you, too. Do you think you are making it a self-fulfilling prophecy meaning stating it so that it must be true?
I am just where the friends are arriving in Helsinki. I am worried it will feel too dated. They watch the same movie on one big screen in the plane! I forgot all about how that used to work!

  4. Our weather has been fabulous lately. My book club is reading Beautiful Ugly later this year so I haven’t read it yet. I love time alone in my house, probably because it doesn’t happen all that often. Have a nice week!

    1. Yes! Ours has, too. Some days were a little too summery, but I know it’s not going to last much longer. I am anxious to hear what you think of Beautiful Ugly. I’m glad I read it! So true – it is a hot commodity now!

  5. EO is so cute!! Glad he is a great trail buddy ❤️ My previous dog was so good about staying 8 ft or so in front of us and periodically looking back to see if we were ok. My current dog would just take off to chase a squirrel 🤣

  6. I agree that the house is always quiet when the dogs are away!
Sutton was away this weekend with Scott and I’ve figured out now that they dogs aren’t messy and Wells isn’t messy. She is messy.

I DNF’d Beautiful Ugly awhile ago but it’s on my Kindle so now I think I should try again!

Did you link the Birk dupes somewhere? I missed the trend in college because that’s when they were HUGE but I never got a pair (didn’t want my flare leg jeans to get wet, dragging in puddles) but now….

  7. Good luck with making Thirsty Thursday a thing.
What a lovely birthday lunch for Heather. The cake is so pretty and looks delicious!
How lovely that Eddie Otis went for a hike, I bet he had a great time.
Your British sausage in puff pastry did make me chuckle, we just call them mini sausage rolls here. They are so good, If I make a batch, sometimes 50 in one go they don’t last 24 hours. lol Yum to the cinnamon buns, I made some last week too, not Hawaiian one’s though!
Fab meal plan, I do love a roast when it’s cold out.

  8. That’s so fun that EO is a good hiking companion, and good for your empty house too! I will put the mystery on my reading list. I read a lot from that genre, but have never read that one! The birthday lunch looks fun, and the cake looks delicious! Hope you have a good week.

    1. Keeping you on the edge of your seat…actually I need to try it on today with my jeans and make sure it isn’t too big but I did buy it. I can return if the fit isn’t right. Isn’t that the best cake?

  10. That cake looks so good! I read Beautiful Ugly, 4/5 stars. Alice Feeney’s books are interesting and can be gory. She’s one of my must-read authors; I like Ruth Ware’s books a lot too. I wish we had a World Market closer to us! I love how unique their merchandise is. We go when we visit our son in Tampa.

    1. I really liked the book! I’m usually too much of a chicken.
Don’t overlook World Market’s website. The store was really overwhelming and I might order online.

  11. What a great weekend! That’s awesome that EO is a hiker…I bet he burned some energy. The bday lunch looks lovely. Trav’s childhood friend’s wife’s family owns Phlens and helps put there during busy times. When we are in Louisville, trav usually stops in for a treat. I’m jealous of your reading time! I haven’t read that book.

  12. You crack me up! I love the idea of Thirsty Thursday for my plants- they tend to go dry until I notice that they need some water haha. I also just put the Alice Feeney book on hold…I had it checked out from my library earlier this summer but the due date came around before I had a chance to read it.
