It’s Thursday and it’s fashion day with Kellyann and Jill! To me, this is a fun time to get dressed! We have had 70s, y’all! I apologize to my Florida and Texas friends who have asked that I not share the temps we are enjoying right now. I love mixing long sleeves with shorts and jeans with short sleeves. Also, I know that we will get more 90s before fall comes.

As always, I am keeping it real. I take one mirror photo as I’m heading out of my bathroom. Sometimes the lighting is really bad!

I wore this to happy hour Friday – this is my new Walmart denim skirt and this is a TJ Maxx blouse. It was a little hotter than anticipated and the blouse wasn’t very breathable for a patio situation.

This is a clearance TJ Maxx blouse from last winter and I love the teal/red combo. It’s fully lined and it was fine temp wise for a patio lunch with my friend, but the tag was driving me crazy and itching my neck. I cut it out when I got home and will see if that helps. It’s also very static inducing. I have on a pair of old jeans that I swear have the seam off center in the front. It bugs me. So, I may say goodbye to both of these pieces because who has time for things that make them uncomfortable?

This was a Sunday farmer’s market outfit. I ended up changing shoes because I walked in this first. I changed into my Adidas Sambas.

I mentioned that I ordered straight leg Halaras. I have wide leg in medium denim, light denim, and black.

These are the new straight legs:

I accidentally ordered regular instead of petite length so I had my tailor hem them for $20 which did make the jeans a little pricey. Look what a good job she did on the hem:

And, the length is just perfect for a variety of different footwear.

I tried this on:

I ended up wearing this to dinner with my former student:

So, I am thrilled.

Here is the wide leg for a side by side comparison. Also, my blog reader and friend Kim said that she knows a gal who had the wide legs made less wide by her tailor. That would be a bigger job and more expensive I’m sure. I do think these could stand to be hemmed a bit, as well.

Anyway, now I am the proud owner of 4 pairs of Halaras, soon to be 5 pairs…

Do you follow these 53 year old Michigan twins on IG? They were talking about sweat pant jeans and I was intrigued. Well, they were talking about $218 jeans from Rag and Bone!

Aren’t they cute? So, track pants are going to be big for fall and winter and I think we will also see track pant jeans.

I ordered these! Only certain colors came in petite so I had to go with one of those. Knowing myself, I will probably overthink the stripes and what they can be worn with, but I hope I made a good decision!

I am getting ready to inventory my fall clothing and I think these jeans make sense for me in this stage. I am shunning anything that looks or feels too teachery. I am putting together my retiree wardrobe!

What have you been wearing lately?

What are you excited about for fall?

  1. Love the new Halaras with the kimono – super cute! I like the length of the wide leg and wouldn’t hem them but that’s me. I think they’d look great with a pointed toe bootie!

Track pants are such a big trend right now. I’ve seen the sweat pant jeans – I am so curious!

Thanks for linking up with us!

    1. Thanks! And, thank you for the feedback. I have to wear a bit of a heel with them but I guess that’s ok. Now that I have the straight leg those can be worn with flatter shoes. I’m excited to see what I can pair them with and I hope the length is good.

  2. I love those skirts that you wore this week! Those track pant jeans are interesting; I recently read about that trend as well…I’m not sure how I feel about this one, honestly. I ordered two pairs of Halaras this week in my new size, and I added a pair of their leggings to my order! I can’t wait to get them in the mail.

    1. Thank you! I love both of them, too. The denim is a bit snug in the ol’ tum. I am not sure, either, but thought I would try it. Maybe they will turn out to be just at home/weekend lounge pant jeans.
I am so happy and glad you did that! I can’t wait to see them. I am not super into leggings right now but would also be curious to know the quality!

  3. I am excited about fall but feel like it is happening much too quickly this year. I can remember some Septembers being real warm but we have definitely had a fall bite in the air for a couple of weeks now. I often pair short sleeves with pants but rarely think to pair shorts with long sleeves– I think I’m going to do that today. I like your new straight leg halaras.

    1. I think this is just a tease in our area. But, it’s been such a weird weather year – who knows?
Thank you! I love long sleeves with shorts and you might need to switch to short as the day goes on.

    1. I am curious to see how I can style them. I love my white button downs so that would be easy. I am wondering if I will just put them with whatever I would put jeans with?
      Right? It’s been soooo nice!

  4. I do follow the Michigan twins, but have noticed they don’t show up in my feed much anymore. That algorithm! I just heard that Gen z prefers loose pants, and they think leggings are for old people. We’ll see if that prediction holds true! Love your retirement looks!

    1. That’s so weird! Maybe you need to heart them or comment more? lol. I do feel that leggings look a bit dated now. And, wide can be more flattering if you find the right width. Thank you!

  5. I like the look of the track pant jeans, but would I wear them? Hmmm…I don’t know if I’m cool enough to pull them off! Loved the straight leg Halaras. I still haven’t bought any because, quite honestly, I have oodles of jeans in all sizes! I’m discovering some that now fit, but I’m afraid to get rid of the ones that are now too big in case…you know?

    1. And, you are also shorter than I am I think so the petite might even be too long. But, can you sew? I am 5’4. I wish I could hem pants at least.
I don’t think you should hang on to the big ones! Or, maybe only one pair.
