How was your weekend? Mine was good! Let’s link up with Sarah and Holly for Hello Monday!

Thursday was our district’s first day back to school so I did some self-care and had some fun and if you read my post Friday you saw this:

And, I kept my fun day going by NOT cooking dinner, either! We went to a new to us sushi drive-thru – yes I said sushi drive-thru for take out and I was impressed! Mason is usually home at dinner time with us so we have started the new season of The Bear.

I love their ginger dressing!

I did a white press on mani that would work/go with my pink pedi.

Friday I did chores around the house – trying to feel out the back to school traffic and didn’t want to be on either end of it and I did mention it, but there is tons of road construction near my house. But, around 2:30, Mason agreed to go with me to a new wine tasting room from a Washington state vineyard.

Sadly, it was closed for a private event that was happening later, but the chef had us come in and look around and poured us two wines to taste. He did not have to do that! So nice! So, if you are local, check out The Wine Room by J.Bell Wines. I asked him what the Louisville/Washington state connection was and he said the owner of the vineyard is from Louisville. So, now I really want to support a business that was so nice to me!

Mason and I couldn’t think of another place we wanted to go and the traffic was getting bad so we went home. I made salmon and over cooked potato wedges and Trader Joe’s vegetable nests.

Eddie Otis slept in on Saturday morning and I thought this photo was so funny!

He’s so long when he stretches out!

Tom took EO out for a couple of hours and mama had some peace. I am loving this book!

More eggs with chives…

I went to the library and their themed bookshelf was “dog days of summer”…

I got this:

and this…

The second one is written by “Messie Condo”. I’m pretty sure that’s a pen name.

I also went in to Kroger and I did in person shopping again.

I am obsessed with Cobb salads lately and had one for lunch.

I had to make the smart, adult decision later in the afternoon, guys. I could hardly stand in these shoes, let alone walk. Does someone not test out a shoe? I’d like to see the person that can walk in these. So, I am returning them.

I went with my old consignment shoes that I bought to be in my friend’s wedding a few years ago. So, this dress is consignment for $12 and the shoes were consignment for about the same amount. I did decide to wear my rosé earrings to add a little spice.

We were off to our friends’ daughter’s wedding at a botanical garden about 20 minutes away called Yew Dell. Tom said, “this is inside, right?” to which I replied yes. Oops. It was not inside.

Also, we had to walk a long way from the parking lot to the field where the wedding was held so I was so glad about my shoe decision!

Everyone staying in the shade as long as possible:

Some moved chairs to the shade and some stood in the shade.

The reception was outside but it was in an open air pavilion that had a roof and fans.

It was a lovely wedding!

Sunday was going to be another hot day so Tom and I went out on the boat early to beat the heat.

It was lovely and we had the river to ourselves! We had McDonald’s and I had a…

mimosa (when it got a little later)!

I took a shower and then read outside and it wasn’t too bad with my fans going.

I made a late afternoon trip to Target and found some Swedish candy I wanted to try. It wasn’t very sweet, but it was good.

And, I needed more coffee for the week and I couldn’t leave Eddie Otis on the shelf. Doesn’t it look like him?

For reference:

They even have the same collar! I will become Eddie Otis’ agent and he will make us lots of money from his modeling career!

Tell me a highlight from your weekend!

  1. The wedding and the boat ride both sound like a lot of fun; though the wedding does sound rather warm being outside. I once went to a wedding up here at the end of October and we had zero clue it was going to be outside and we all froze! I definitely would have rethought my outfit choices had I known…

  2. Isn’t boating wonderful? We live on a lake and enjoy every moment we can get out there.
Outdoor Weddings are nice if the weather cooperates.
    Happy Retirement!

  3. What a bummer about the shoes- boo! Totally get it though and you are right- who tests these things anyway? Ha! Looks like a fun weekend- glad you got some boating in too 🙂

  4. Holy cow that coffee packaging really does look like EO! That’s crazy and I would have had to buy it too.

Glad the wedding was so nice too bad the shoes didn’t work but thank goodness you knew that and didn’t risk it.

I love that the chef at the wine place was so nice, that would make me want to go back too!

  5. Those shoes are so pretty- it’s a shame they didn’t work out. With my new normal Achilles issue, any kind of heel are just out of the question. I have to wear flats so I can only admire heels on others. This weekend was a good one to be out on the water. So insanely hot. You guys must have been out there early; I’m sure everyone with a boat was out on the water at some point on Sunday! The new wine place sounds nice (especially the owner/chef!). Have a great Monday!

  6. What a lovely weekend! I am very impressed by the wine bar’s flexibility of letting you taste a glass of wine, despite the bar being closed for a special event.

We took Friday afternoon off, ventured out of the city and opted for a nice, leisurely walk along “the” river. We ended the afternoon with drinks and an early dinner at a small, secluded gastro pub we love. I had gazpacho, fish cakes and a panna cotta with stewed peaches. 😃

  7. I have a love/hate relationship with outdoor weddings! It’s too hot for them in the summer where I live. It was nice of the owner/manager to let you taste some wine even though it was closed for a private event! That is excellent customer service. Eddie Otis is a model! I hope that works out well for him. A favorite part of my weekend was a race that I attended Saturday night; it was so unexpected and completely unplanned…and I loved every second. Happy Monday, friend! xoxo

  8. I do a lot of cobb salads for dinner in the summer months. Last night I made a bbq chicken salad, basically a salad base but I add fiesta corn and black beans and then top with some bbq chicken. Really good! The shoes you wore look pretty with the dress. Oh these outdoor weddings in the middle of summer! We went to one several years ago in Houston. In July!! Outside. You were literally glued to the person beside you. I love when businesses go out of their way to relate to the customer. I’d definitely revisit the wine vendor just because he was so nice. Enjoy your week!

  9. I love your sign!! 🤣 That is awesome! Our school district in San Antonio finally changed the start of school to an earlier date. It used to be end of August around the 24th. That was so ridiculous because they were still in school into June and everyone was OVER it!! We moved our youngest daughter to law school in Kansas. Her apartment is in an old house with sloping floors. It was hard to leave her but I know she’s going to have an awesome L1 year. Have a great week!!

  10. I am glad you had a good day on Friday.
Oh wow! A sushi drive through, that is something different and looks so good too.
That was so kind of the chef to be so welcoming even if the wine tasting room was closed.
Aww! All those dog books at the library did make me smile.
That is a shame about the shoes being hard to walk in, they are so pretty! You look fabulous, I love that pink dress. Congratulations to the happy couple.

  11. This isn’t a highlight but I love Black Rifle coffee!! The picture of the black lab is so cool but I prefer a bolder taste. I usually buy a dark flavor.

  12. That’s the exact coffee we buy bc I like light roasts.
Well, an outdoor wedding in August is a CHOICE for sure lol. We went to an outdoor wedding in WV in June once and it was in an open air barn and it worked. Risky though! I think the shoes and pink dress looked great!

  13. The coffee really does look like EO. Mollie is really long when she stretches out, which is opposite from Albie who is more like a bulldog in build. I hope you like Stat. Speaking – I really enjoyed it. Your librarians do such a great job with displays. Ours (who I like because I volunteer there) are just not as creative! The wedding venue was beautiful, although I bet it was hot! Hope you have a good day!

  14. What a great weekend! You look beautiful for the wedding and the setting looks so nice, but I imagine any outdoor wedding in August is a little hot. I just finished the latest season of The Bear. It gets better as the season goes along.

  15. What a weekend! The winery looks fun & sounds like they know how to treat their customers. What’s with the outside weddings in the summer? lol. We went to two as I shared in my posts this summer. We sweated our butte off at the last one. Thankfully, the rest of the festivities were inside. Your wedding outfit is so pretty…& your boat day looked pretty too.
