What have you been wearing lately? Are you over your summer clothes?

I am linking up with Kellyann and Jill to share my ‘fits, some shopping I’ve done, and what I’m wanting to wear these days.

I resisted the Nordstrom Anniversary sale! Go me!

Normally, I would be thinking about footwear for going back to school. Footwear was always a big concern. The cement floors and being on your feet all day as a teacher are no joke. It feels weird to not really need as much now!

I did something I feel is very smart. I ordered black and white tanks from Chico’s to wear under things. I never have the right tank to wear under an open button up shirt or a kimono. I want something that skims the old tum and that is not too low cut in the chestal region. So, these tanks were on sale and I am hoping for the best. I will let you know if they are the tanks that will change my life. Do you have any pieces you can’t wear because you don’t have the right stuff to wear them with? I say let them go or do the work to try to be able to wear them!

I have a goal to buy and wear more navy! Weird, right?

Step one of said goal:

The material could be tragic but I am trying this in two sizes. Since Old Navy makes returns very easy, this was an easy decision.

I put on some jeans this week! I think my medium wash Halaras are a bit more lightweight than my lighter wash ones – go figure! I am thinking about ordering a different style of Halaras because they were such a good purchase for me. I have the same style in medium wash, light wash, and light black. They are wide leg short.

Saturday night we went to hear a jazz group at a distillery and I wore this old Old Navy blouse (it’s pretty thick unfortunately for the humid weather). A girl on the sidewalk complimented it! I live in the part of the country where we smile, say hi, and even start conversations with total strangers and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Earlier in the day I had worn my consignment Target short sleeved button up with the same jeans and I am wearing my Kork-Ease sandals with both outfits, too. I am reaching for these sandals all the time so that turned out to be a good purchase (gift from my mom from a return she had – aww) and this short sleeve consignment button up is another thing I have reached for so much; it’s super lightweight. I think it might look good with my long white skirt.

One day for errands I put on my Old Navy tennis skirt with my gauzy white top.

And, for an errand and a happy hour, I put this on:

If I am at home, I am wearing my Wild Fable sweatshirt shorts and a graphic tee, but if I go out I am wearing my Halaras. I’m not feeling the dresses too much right now. It looks like some colors of the shorts are now on sale for $8.40. They aren’t too thick or too hot if you are looking for something like this.

I will let you know how the Chico’s tanks work out and how the Old Navy navy blouse works out. When my twins were little they thought the name of the color was “old navy blue”.

Let me know your thoughts!

Amy

  1. I bought 3 tanks to wear under things when I went birthday shopping with my mom; one in white, one in black and since they were 3 for $20 (or 21?) I bought a third in a gray/blue tone. They remind me of the tanks I used to wear in high school– not too low cut but with nice thin spaghetti straps and very form fitting. They have come in so handy with some of my thinner/see through shirts for summer.

    1. I know what you are talking about but what I was looking for was different. They will show so I want them to be looser with wider straps. I am glad yours are working great and that is a great price!

  2. I hope the tanks work for you – it’s a great idea! I wear Half Tees under a lot of things because they are cooler and don’t add any bulk since they just cover half.

It’s funny that you are drawn to navy, I am definitely in my blue era lately. I don’t know what it is, but I feel the pull to blue.

I really like all of your outfits, those Halaras are so fabulous on you and my favorite outfit is the one with the consignment white button up! So good!

    1. I love the half tee idea and it makes sense for Florida.
I always go a little preppier in the summer and the navy is just part of that nautical preppy vibe I think. I have been drawn to all shades of blue lately.
Thank you so much. I am loving this consignment find for sure.

    1. I couldn’t quite figure out the material so it could be very hot or very wrong. Thank you! I think the sale can be a good thing but I didn’t really need anything.

  3. I’ve noticed that I need tank tops that are higher up in the chest than regular ones. I hate showing cleavage of any kind and my normal tanks tend to “ride down” as the day goes on and when I see myself in a mirror with cleavage showing, I don’t like that. These are for tanks that I wear under shirts that are open wide and low such that I couldn’t wear them without a tank. Anyway. I need to buy those kinds of tanks during our no tax days coming up. (Something to keep in mind for you- I know you’re not close, close to Ohio but if there’s something up to $500 that you want to buy, skedaddle on up to Ohio to buy it the first two weeks of August if you don’t want to pay sales tax on it.) I like the color of your jeans and all of your outfits. Very summery, put together looking.

    1. Yes! I am hoping these will be loose enough to skim and look presentable since they will be showing. If I like them, I may get two more but I don’t have that many outfits that need them. I am trying to wrap my head around not needing presentable school outfits for a five day week. I really won’t need that many things! It’s both great and different for me.
      Thank you so much!

  4. I enjoyed seeing your tops.
I too have tanks for certain tops. They are versatile!
I am a retired teacher! Every summer I get that back to school feeling but then it goes away quickly. Lol! Congratulations on your retirement! You will love it!

  5. I usually wear tanks under clothes, but not always when the temperature gets so hot like this week. I like the Old Navy top and then your tennis skirt looks cute too! Have a good day!

  6. i love sundresses but have had such issues finding “regular” bras, that I have no faith in finding strapless or racer back. Therefore I pass over so many dresses and some tops bc I don’t have the bra! My boobs are old, super saggy and need wires to stay in place. Strapless bras just fold over! It’s quite comical! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

  7. I wear tanks often under my other tops – black, white, navy and gray are included in my collection. FYI – you influenced. me and I bought a pair of the sweatshirt shorts (gray). I love them and I’m already trying to decide which color to get next! THANK YOU!

  8. I got a pair of the Wild Fable shorts! I actually tried them on…I have a pair of Universal Thread pull-on shorts and they are my most-worn out of everything I own and these are very similar. I also just ordered some plain vintage tees from Madewell because I’m trying to just build up the basics. Nothing specific or hard to match.

    1. This is a big deal that you have gone back to Target! Are you ok? I really am done there for most things but I happened upon these shorts!
I bet those are great tees. Seeing what you constantly wash is so telling.
I scored 3 blouses at TJ Maxx yesterday. Two were on clearance for $13. Every now and again I can find boutique type blouses there. My favorite boutique runs about $60 for a blouse but if I love it I get it.
      I can’t help it; I love clothes!

  9. I’m in S Florida, and I wear tanks under quite a few of my linen tops and cotton sweaters. I have 4 cropped linen tops, and the tanks given good stomach and back coverage in the classroom. I bought them on sale at Target last year for $8, and the quality is excellent. I have them in white, navy, black, olive green, and a heathered tan. Banana Republic Factory has good tanks too, but slightly more expensive. I have them in navy and white striped, and in tan and white striped. I don’t have to wash my sweaters as frequently when I wear a tanks under them.

  10. I hope the tanks work for you. I just wear the tops without anything under them! I honestly don’t care. Old Navy is so good about returns. I often order the same size twice because their sizing is all over the place (but whose isn’t these days). I am in my yellow era, but I haven’t found anything. I haven’t shopped the NSale either. Such a hyped up let down.

  11. I love navy! I have so many items in navy and red. Of course, being a Penn state fan…navy and white is a way of life. And also being a fresno state fan….navy and red! Makes it perfect for me. I was in Seattle and was able to shop in store at the Mothership and Flagship downtown Nordstrom. It was lovely and I wish I hadn’t of been with our friends and my husband because I could have spent all day there. Yes I LOVE Nordstrom. They have the best customer service and return policy. Hands down. THE BEST. I did buy a navy print dress and a navy Caslon top. I think everything I got was Caslon or Halogen brand. I love those 2 brands from Nordstrom!
