Sharing a few weekend highlights with Sarah, Holly, and many more. I would love to hear yours in the comments!

Friday we got word that all after school activities would be cancelled for the possibility of severe weather – storms and tornadoes. Not good! Not a Friday vibe. I came home and we ordered pizza and I was glad everyone was staying home. It started storming as I was going to bed but it didn’t manifest anything big in my area. I am sorry for those in southern Kentucky that were hit hard. It’s been a year for weather, no?

Saturday morning the world was wet from the night before but it felt nice out. I am trying to embrace black coffee. I keep thinking how freeing it will be to not have to buy creamer!

The day was shaping up to be gorgeous but I had a lot of chores to tend to. Oh well.

One of them was another closet cleanout. I hate everything. Well, not everything. I took a basket of clothes to Clothes Mentor just hoping to get a little credit and I did pretty well.

They had the Amazon sweatshirt priced higher than on Amazon! It is good to know your brands and prices when you shop consignment.

Buc ee’s bathing suit anyone?

No, I did not buy the above items, but I did get this gauzy kelly green J.Crew dress,

this Tacos & Tequila wallet,

this crystal stone necklace,

and an “S” signet ring. Score!

I got into my next book! I am almost done and I don’t want it to end. I took a break from my Scottish book. I’m almost done and I know what is going to happen.

Scottish book:

Maybe when I grow up I will read more serious books.

Cute boy napped on my feet for a little bit.

I counted it up and Tom has now dedicated both days of 7 weekends to the porch project. There was one weekend that he didn’t work on Saturday and then there were about 3 spring break days in addition. So, I am counting it as 16 full days. You guys! That just seems like so much. I know he is saving a lot of money but one’s time is valuable, too. He doesn’t complain, but I do.

Saturday he redid the stairs and Sunday he did the backs/risers and he and Mason stained it.

His assitant:

I went out and got us take out mediterranean.

Sunday morning was more chores in the interior for me. I am organizing some stuff I brought back from my mom’s house and clearing some of my clutter, too.

I did a grocery list, a meal plan, and I went and picked up my groceries.

Later on I made myself a mimosa with a bit of grenadine. It’s so pretty and the grenadine stays on the bottom. I am still very happy about my new glasses.

I brought back this fish punch bowl from my mom’s and decided to try it out as a vase.

I really miss getting the paper and treated myself to a Sunday edition.

Tom took a break and we went to Costco and to an art fair. I am kind of over art fairs because all the stuff is the same. Boy, I sound like a grump!

We didn’t buy anything but we did go get Mexican on a patio!

I got grilled fish tacos!

In my Kroger order I decided to try Dolly Parton’s cookies because Chrissy Tiegen has no more cookies at my Kroger. Loyal blog readers with good memories will remember that I found her mix and it is the best mix I have ever used.

Chrissy is better than Dolly in this department.

Tom said Dolly’s cookies weren’t big enough. Sorry, guys. You can click away if you need to.

The stain:

Well, I hope you came here to hear about a 7 week long deck project and box cookie mixes because that is what you got.

It’s our last Monday with kids! No seniors will be in class, but we will have the others. I am just excited for a less crowded parking lot! Can I get an Amen?

Amy

  1. The deck looks beautiful! My husband is the same way with do it yourself projects… but then again he’d find something else to work on anyway because that man does not understand the meaning of the words “day off.” That mimosa drink would be perfect for Halloween time; it looks like candy corn in a jar!

  2. Love the fish punch bowl and how you’ve repurposed it. Your drink looks so pretty in your new glass – what a treat!

I am dying over that Buc-ees bathing suit – ha!!!!

    Have a wonderful Monday!

  3. Sounds like a nice weekend! We had those storms roll through our area on Friday evening- I saw some broken branches on sidewalks Sat. morning during my run but thankfully that seemed like the extent of damage. I’m glad the DP cake mix box did homage to Dolly’s hair :). That’s great you got money for some of your clothes at Clothes Mentor. (I love that place due to my great deals!). The deck is looking so good. Great job, Tom! Have a great Monday!

  4. You really scored at the consignment store! The ring is perfect (clothes and purse too) the deck looks awesome. Just in time for summer. The dolly cookie comment 🤣🤣
Your mimosa looks amazing. I hate that there was so much devastation this weekend…then followed by such gorgeous weather for the rest. Happy last Monday with students!

  5. The deck looks great! My husband wants to do something like that because the footers are fine and very strong, but the floor boards and railings are shot.

I found the Chrissy Teigen chocolate chip cookie mix – she has a website called Cravings by Chrissy Teigen. However, the shipping is $10. So it makes each box of cookie mix >$14! I am going to keep looking for them in a store somewhere. I signed up for emails so maybe there will be a free shipping promotion.

I love seeing what you find in resale stores! I am going on an all-day bus tour with snacks, lunch, drinks in June with my daughter-in-law and her family. I am so excited!

    I love the “fish vase!”

  6. The deck does look even better with the stain! Those are some cute finds at Clothes Mentor and even better to get some money in exchange. You do a great job of cleaning out your closet so often. I try to stick with something in, something out rule. Glad you had some down time and hope it’s a good last week at school with kids!

  7. My hubs used to be the same, but he’s a little older than your hubs and knows his back just can’t handle all he used to do himself anymore. We just had our entire yard and all the beds mulched and pine straw-ed? (covered in pine straw) and the price was ridiculous but it took four guys two full days to do it, plus they haul it in and they clean up the driveway and walkways after so it was worth it. Mulching is back breaking and probably why his back hurts now-all those years of hauling mulch around our various yards. He still does plenty but he feels it more than he used to. I think the weather might contribute to feeling grouchy. So much rain on top of an emotionally hard season and the ending of another. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Hope you have a nice week!

  8. Life is short: Buy the coffee creamer. Hire the professional to do in a few days what it would take a normal person 16 +. Buy good quality shoes. Shop second hand for clothing. Happy Monday and one day closer to retirement!!

  9. Wow!! Tom did a great job on the deck! That’s something my husband would do to save money too. I just bought a package of Dolly Parton sugar cookie mix to try. They were on clearance at my Walmart. Praying for everyone affected by the tornadoes in Kentucky. Your poor state needs a break from weather events!

  10. Tom has done such a great job on the deck! That is such back breaking work. I agree about the time being valuable, though, and I probably would have felt the same as you. I love that EO napped on your feet while you read outside. Your comment about reading better books when you grow up made me laugh; you just keep reading what your little heart desires to read! There are no bad books to read…well, you know what I mean. I hope you enjoy your last Monday with students! Gah, it’s getting real.

  11. Oh gosh, the weather you’ve been having sounds awful. Even the threat of storms sound terrifying.
The clothes shopping looks interesting. That Bucee bathing suit did make me chuckle but I love that Tacos & Tequila wallet!
The porch is looking fantastic. Well done Tom!

  12. The Dolly cookie comment from Tom made me LOL! The deck looks amazing, but wow, that’s a lot of work. I’m sure he enjoys it (maybe?). I need to check out our location of Clothes Mentor! I feel the same way about art fairs, and was just talking to Michael about how I used to buy a paper every Sunday. Now there’s just not much left of our newpaper! Sometimes I read it at the library after I volunteer. Hope you have a good week.

  13. That sweatshirt was 9.95 on Amazon. It’s great and all but I wouldn’t pay a cent more for it lol. Enjoy your (next to) last week!
