I don’t remember what the sun looks like…

So, if this could happen it would be great! I also don’t remember why I ever said I liked rain. Also, when the rain stops we are supposed to have a freeze warning. What a crazy weather year 2025 has turned out to be, no? How do you know you’re old? You talk about the weather this much!

Linking up with Holly and Sarah and you will hear all about it!

So I have been on Spring Break and I stayed at home. I was super productive at the beginning of the week and then the rains came…We had tornado sirens go off Wednesday night and then it just kept raining. I cooked a lot at the beginning of break and then I was tired and wanted my break to feel like a break so I started going out more. I went to breakfast once, tea once, lunch once, and dinner twice. That’s not too bad, is it?

I had lunch with Victoria at my favorite little French brasserie on Thursday. We split a croque monseiur – love that they let you do that. Half is definitely enough!

I was able to read in the rain on my covered patio so that was nice!

Isn’t that a pretty reflection? I love it!

I made Peeps hot chocolate and I think they look so cute floating there.

I’m reading two books at once because my Sarah Adams came in at the library and I abandoned this for a bit, but I love it, too! You will see my other book later on in the post. Both would be great vacay or summer reads.

On top of house chores, decluttering work, and just regular maintenance I usually only plan one thing for each day when I’m off work.

Friday Mason and I had a reservation for high tea. We have talked about going for a long, long time – like two years.

It was fabulous! We loved it! It was $35 a person.

After the tea, Tom and I met our friends for dinner. I didn’t want to say no to a social gathering and we hadn’t been together in quite some time. We took at least half of the tea food home because it was a lot and I didn’t stuff myself.

Paloma – yum!

Fajita bowl – took most of it home, too!

Saturday was a bummer. My sisters and I were supposed to meet in my hometown and my aunt and uncle were coming through on their way north from Florida and we had to cancel because of the widespread flooding. Molly’s road was flooded, Kate would have to travel through flooding, and the downtown of my hometown was flooded. It just didn’t seem smart to try to load cars in the rain, either. And, it was also storming.

The rain chain was off the chain!

So good!

Tom’s deck project got stopped, too. Major bummer. We drove around and went to Work the Metal Saturday and then came home and ate leftovers.

Guess what? More rain!

Sunday I did some meal prepping for the week ahead and that always helps me to feel ready.

Tom and I drove to see the river and then stopped at the prettiest bakery called Rose Bakery.

Wow! We brought these home to share with everyone. The croissant is a Dubai chocolate croissant.

We came home and ate lunch and then I went to Target and saw White Lotus creamers.

These are delish as a candy subsitute. My sister Kate discovered them.

Yesterday was one year of Eddie Otis! We brought him home on April 6, 2024!

The river in my hometown:

The river is supposed to crest tomorrow so let’s hope that happens and that all stay safe.

What about you? Are you experiencing the rain, too?

  1. I think we get a pass to talk about the weather- especially when it’s as nutty as it’s been. I usually love rain but I am over it! And we haven’t even had to deal with floods but I know others have. I’m sorry high water derailed your plans. It was definitely more important to stay safe. That high tea place sounds really nice. The girls and I have talked about going to one near us but I guess it’s been low priority because I have not made it happen :). Have a great Monday!

  2. We’ve had so much rain lately too and I also miss the sun (though I do think we saw it one day last week). Today we’re supposed to get a mix of rain and snow. Yikes with all that flooding though! I haven’t heard of any flood warnings up here though I have no idea where all that rain is going. I’m so sorry you had to cancel your plans with your family. It looks like you had a yummy week.

  3. That rain is insane! I cannot believe all the flooding I’ve seen on the news, so terrible. It’s hot and sunny here – like 91 degrees hot – ugh. It is supposed to rain soon and a cool front will come in.

Your high tea looks fabulous – I want to do that some day. The bakery looked fabulous too, yum!

    Happy one year of EO!!

    1. I know! It’s so bad. I believe it will start to recede on Wednesday. We are on online school today and could be tomorrow as well.
It was so fab! I felt fancy! It was raining so it felt very British – lol.

  4. We’re getting the rain now through tomorrow then it gets back down into the 40’s!! Seriously?! I just put away all of my cold weather clothes, of course. I love going for a high tea but we have to drive to Yorktown or Williamsburg for one. It’s such a fun thing to do! Everybody enjoy your week! Happy One Year in your new home Eddie Otis!

  5. I had canceled weekend plans as well! I hated to do that, but it was better to be safe than sorry. I love that bakery with the pink and white striped walls and the pink tree in the corner! I love places like that, ones that are beautiful. Yay for one more day at home with no eyes on you!

  6. I love rain but not the flooding rain your state is getting 😬 Praying for everyone who is affected by it! 🙏 I wish rain could be transported to another place that needs it!!

  8. i wish. Although, living here in Central California… We have gotten way more rain than normal and I think our snow pack up in the mountains is at 90%. I could be wrong, but that is what I am hearing. Which is excellent. Our temperatures are beginning to warm. We should be in the mid 80s all week.

  9. Oh, yes, we’ve had rain! I feel so badly for the people who lost their roofs due to the tornado. I’m sure the insides of their entire homes will have to be gutted due to the rain. I’d be so afraid of mold. I saw videos of a place in your hometown where there’s some kind of waterfall that flows over the road (am I imagining that), and the water was just pouring over it.

I love high tea but haven’t done it in ages. I’m going to have to scout out a place and go! I hope you have a fast and wonderful week!

  10. Well I’ve always talked a lot about the weather so I’m not going to give you a hard time. The flooding is awful. My daughter used to live in Clarksville TN and their old neighborhood flooded, with water halfway up garage doors in the lower lying areas. I saw some of the KY horse farms were flooded too. We had hard rain today, but we need it. We’ve had fires here that they’ve struggled to contain, plus the rain brings down the pollen so I’m in favor of that. I had a facial today and the rain added to the relaxation. I love high tea…that looks like a great spot!

  11. So funny about the weather talk. I started noticing recently that most of my blog posts mention the weather. I don’t think I ever thought about the weather much before, and I know my kids don’t. I hope you get some sunshine soon. We are getting crazy weather here too…some strong storms and then unseasonably cool weather. You find the best places like the tea shop and bakery! You were smart not to drive in the rain. It’s hard to believe you’ve had EO for a year! We got Mollie at the end of May. Hope you are doing ok on your day back to school!

I am sitting in the sun now and it’s lovely!
It’s about 58. I also came outside earlier while working from home due to the flooding.
I try not to let weather affect my plans. I try to find cool
places and stay in the know. Let me know where you’d like to go while here!

  12. Golly, you’ve had so much rain! Praying that the river crests and things get back to normal soon! Happy anniversary to EO! I’ve never been to a high tea and the one you went to looked so fabulous! How fun to share it with your son!

  13. I love that y’all went to high tea! The flooding was crazy. Saturday was the worse day here and it was like a snowstorm because the weather men were advising only to drive in the case of emergencies because of so many flooded roads. Seeing the sun today was amazing. Glad y’all stayed safe and hope back to school toorrow goes okay.

  14. Seeing those peeps in your hot cocoa made me so happy! Yep, the weather is bipolar all right! We were in Sedona last week and it was in the 40s instead of the normal 70s. I was like, I get it we’re from Indiana, lol! Seeing your fabulous tea made me smile so much and because I had never had that brand before that you show pictured but we had it at our resort. It was so cold every day that we wanted an afternoon tea, but when we were out, I called the front desk to ask for two teabags and they ended up bringing me a whole box! Needless to say I brought that home, lol!

    1. It was! It would be a fun Mother’s Day or bday treat for a lady! Yeah! I needed the time at home and maybe it was good that I couldn’t/didn’t want to go out much in the rain. God knows what you need when you need it. I see this over and over again in my life.
