How are you on this last Monday of March? I am good! It’s my spring break! I am just staying in town but Tom is off work with me and we are doing some house projects and yard projects. I am happy to link up with Sarah and Holly to share my weekend.

Part of me wanted to plan a trip and part of me thought the decision making would be stressful. Also, I don’t like being with all the spring breakers. Lol.

Vacation is a state of mind, not a place. I will keep reminding myself of that.

Thursday for the last day of school before spring break, I brought the sunny vibes.

I told little boy I would be off work soon.

After school I kicked off the break with my friend Victoria who teaches at another school. We went to Irish Rover and it was lovely.

We had some smoked salmon patΓ© and irish soda bread.

Then, I went home and made spaghetti. I already had the meat done so that made it quick.

I love a slow breakfast at home and here was my Friday breakfast…

I finished this over my breakfast and I loved it!

I decided to give up on the interspecies girl and lochness monster relationship in this book and return it. Not that there is anything wrong with that if it’s your cup of tea. It’s too bad because I love the cover!

I had a fresh stack of requests that I brought home with me.

A healthy mix of non-fiction/self-improvement and fiction. I am not going to Yorkshire, but I saw it on the shelf and loved York, England so thought I would read it.

And, I started this because it was recently recommended in blog land and it was on the new release shelf.

I also went to Marshall’s and Whole Foods. I never go to either, but Whole Foods was amazing! I want to shop there regularly.

Mason had to work late afternoon but was free and wanted to go to his favorite lunch spot.

He always gets a decaf and loves it. He loves how it comes with a Biscoff cookie.

We split the frites and a choripan. And, we still had leftovers. Neither of us were super hungry.

I was going to go get a pedicure but Elizabeth called and wanted to stop by and I quickly pivoted. Eddie Otis doesn’t like her at all. He did calm down.

I was enjoying the patio so much as the weather was just perfection that I said screw it to my toes and made a coffee with a Peep.

For dinner, I made fish tacos with mango salsa. I read on the patio again after dinner.

Saturday morning it was cloudy but so warm.

Our outdoor area is so neglected but we will get to it this week. And, Tom is replacing the patio boards because they are deteriorating. I guess the reclmained wood was too reclaimed.

Tom and EO went to visit Tom’s parents, the kids were working, and I got ready for some friend time.

I went shopping with my friend Jessica at Work the Metal.

Then, we stopped for Greek food and cookies! What could be better?

The pedicure happened Saturday late afternoon and I went with a periwinkle blue that I bought at Marshall’s.

We had a Stoney River Steakhouse gift card so I picked up a Cobb salad to share with Tom…

And these little steak sliders and sides. We split one meal and still had enough for Mason to have a full meal after work.

I bought myself flowers at Whole Foods for less than $6.

I bought a spring magazine, too!

I made another good breakfast of more of a veggie scramble.

EO is either sleeping or transporting his stuffed animals.

Sunday Tom did my returns with me. I had one Amazon and one Old Navy.

It was a gloomy day so I was happy to read more!

And, enjoy some rain…

And, really this kind of sums up my relaxed state right now.

I’ve got some hard stuff going on and coming up, but, for now, I have some of my favorite foods, the ability to watch the sun rise and set, some great library books, my flowers I bought myself, my favorite songs I will sway to (let’s not go too crazy with full out dancing), and I do feel blessed.

Thank you for blessing me with your comments!

Amy

  1. I love that saying at the end! Those flowers are so pretty. Whole Foods and Marshalls are always fun to visit. I don’t go there a ton, but actually went to both last week too. Happy Spring break!

  2. Looks like a fun weekend! Is that magazine called Garden and Gun? Not hatin’ just wondering!! I’ve not heard of it. There’s a store in a nearby, country area called Golf Carts and Guns. It’s a tiny store based on the outside (I’ve not been in the market for either so I’ve not been in it) and I guess it mostly sells… golf carts and guns?! It kinda cracks me up when I drive by it. Anyway, back to your weekend- your shopping looks fun. I’m the exact same way about Whole Foods and Marshalls. I hope you have a wonderful break!

    1. It was! Yes, it is a popular southern magazine. That’s funny! Honestly the magazine doesn’t even talk about guns. It was fun to shop in some different places and I found some stuff!

  3. Oh I love Thursday’s sunny outfit! Funny you said that about planning a vacation being overwhelming as my husband just casually mentioned we should plan a trip for the 2 of us this fall once the boys are back in school and he ended with “we could go anywhere”.. and now I’m at a loss as to where to go! I have so many ideas I’m having a hard time narrowing them down. I hope you have a fabulous break and I love that last saying!

  4. Looks like a solid start to spring break! I love both the outfits you shared. The yellow is perfect and I love the jeans with the white top. I was just thinking that I haven’t been into the library in a bit. Maybe soon…I’ve only been reading on my kindle. I hope this week is just what you need!

    1. It was! I loved having Friday, too. Thank you! I don’t have a working kindle, so library books it is. It is challenging to make it to the library when I am in school, but I usually do it on Saturday.

  6. What a great weekend! I am starting the Nicholas Sparks book today because I have to be at home all morning for an AT&T guy to come install new internet for me. I’m excited to read it! I love that you filled all of your time this weekend and that you have the week off. I hope it’s the perfect balance of relaxing and productivity!

  7. I love your yellow outfit!! So pretty on you! Wish I could wear yellow but it looks awful on me. I have to reserve it for bottoms and not tops. I agree with you on spring break. I live in a spring break city and it’s just crazy busy at the zoos, museums, and downtown. We used to just stay home when my kids were young.

  8. I love how you celebrate with Happy Hour at different places. I can see myself sitting with my bestie for hours at one of them. I want to take a road trip…maybe I can talk her into Louisville! I finally got a pedicure, too. It had last been at Thanksgiving! Have a wonderful break with Tom and EO!

  9. A new pedicure, a new stack of books, fun happy hours, meals out and shopping and time on the patio… sounds like the perfect Spring Break to me! I was never one who wanted to travel with all the Spring Breakers and was always happy for a week home to refresh before the end of a school year. Enjoy every minute!

  10. Happy Spring Break! It has been weird how Jen and Marilyn have been going through divorce too and we all had longer marriages and are Christian. Our faith does not mean our lives are easy, but that God is with us. Ok, that sounds preachy. I know you are friends with them too. I am pretty much divorced, lost my job and decided last week to go on a vacation and booked a trip to Cancun. I have never traveled outside the U.S. by myself. My husband and I loved to travel together and went all over. He was great at the plans and booking so let him do it and so a bit of a challenge and did it. Praying it all goes well. I am going to an all inclusive place, new too as we explored all over together and want to just relax, read, swim in the ocean. It is incredibly sad after 34 years together. His aunt and uncle just celebrated 70 years of marriage. WOW. We had snow last night and more on the way so glad for a short get away. My cat will not be pleased with me! Have a great week and love your friend get togethers. I am getting better about this.

  11. I love Whole Foods, but don’t go often as it’s a drive. I may go next week as I have an appointment in that same town so it wouldn’t be out of the way. We subscribe to Garden and Gun. It’s one of the few magazines I still read cover to cover. Our dog won their photo contest a few years ago which was so much fun. It was during Covid and I guess people had nothing better to do than vote lol. Enjoy your spring break!

We have many of the purple trees around here and it’s so welcome after the dreariness of winter.

    1. Thank you! Sorry I am late to respond. I don’t have a good routine for comments anymore! I just love the purple contrasted against the fresh green of spring!
