I guess all of my posts are chatty and coffee talk-ish, but let’s make it a dedicated coffee talk today!

Grab that coffee!

If you know me in real life, I’m a pretty open book. You know my emotions. When someone asks how I am I assume they want the truth and not just a “fine”. Are you an open book?

I got a surprise delivery of flowers Sunday night and I thought what in the world? Blonde Heather bestie was not happy with the flowers she sent to the funeral home and told me at least 5 times that is not what she ordered. She called them and they made it right. What a gorgeous arrangement. She cracks me up!

I am really enjoying looking at them!

My mom’s butterfly cork placemats are by pimpernel and she loved them when I gave them to her. She loved them so much she ordered another set for her long table. The cork bottom placemat was in every Airbnb in England. They are actually available on Amazon and I have linked them.

I have learned over the last several years to not save all the treats and good things for the weekend. Every single day should have some luxury and some things you enjoy and that make you happy. Get up earlier! Enjoy that morning quiet! I have come to really embrace not having to walk out the door until about 8:10.

I have also brought tea to school for the afternoon.

Mason loves Biscoff cookies and buys them himself. What a treat on a weekday to have tea and biscuits.

I have done really well with reading instead of scrolling this year. This is so cute so far! Don’t let the title Winter Wish keep you away because so far it has nothing to do with winter in my opinion.

Grab that sun when you can! This is such a funny picture. Look at the snow!

Why do men love Costco so much? Tom and I are buying a new bedroom tv and it made Tom happy to look at the options.

We got Sunday bagels from a new place. We didn’t love them but it was still fun to go do this.

Tom is super easy going most of the time. But, this dryer ball set him off.

My sister gave me a set of three for Christmas and I have been wanting to cut down on toxic stuff in the home. First off, Eddie Otis thinks they are his. When I open the dryer he steals one.

So, Tom says, “Can we please buy some dryer sheets? I have suffered in silence for too long. My towels smell disgusting. Those are disgusting. I can’t take it anymore.” Ok, Tom, tell us how you really feel about dryer balls.

I replied, “We have been married 25 years and I you have never shared how important dryer sheets were to you.”

He responded that it had never been an issue in 25 years but now it was.

Marriage.

What would you share today over a cup of coffee? Or, if you don’t drink coffee – why? What is wrong with you? Just kidding!

Amy

P.S. – My nails look bad. We are taking a press on break again.

  1. Hi Amy! Sorry, I finished my coffee (two cups), hope it’s ok anyway? ;D

Yes, you are an open book and I can sense a new spark in you! Lovely! I think I am a bit closed, people probably see me as “sparkly” but I just cannot share things with people that aren’t genuinely interested… If I met you I would probably be very open, because you are such a curious and empathic person!

Dryer balls and dryer sheets, ha ha! I’m also very surprised when my hub suddenly reveals something I didn’t know… after 27 years…

If we had coffee today I would want to talk about the Gladiator movie I saw yesterday, it really made an impact. Wow! Have you seen it?

  2. I literally about spit my hot tea out this morning. I use six dryer balls as well. I also put essential oils on them (our Dollar General has them for $1). Have a great day!

  3. They flowers are so pretty. My mom gave me some dryer balls a few years ago . We used them but at some point we transitioned back to dryer sheets. I bet EO did think the dryer balls would be fun to play with! Afternoon tea at school – so cozy!

  4. Had a cup of tea in my hand while reading your post :). My husband is the same way at Sam’s. Of course they have the TV’s right in the front when you walk inside. We have good sized plenty new TV’s in all the rooms/areas in the house where we want a TV and outside- there is NO reason that he needs to check out the prices and sizes almost each time he goes into the store but he does!! Those Biscoff cookies are so good. What a fun item to treat yoself with! Have a great day!

  5. LOLOL to the dryer balls. First, yes, Maverick grabs them and chews them up if I’m not quick enough. Second, yes, I go through phases where I try to be non-toxic and use them and they never do what I want them to do. Third, dryer sheets actually are for your towels? I don’t know. I go through phases. I’m struggling with feeling like my washer/dryer isn’t performing at peak but it could be the water…

  6. How sweet of Heather to make sure they got those flowers right – she knew what she wanted and now you get to really enjoy them! Having those placemats is a nice way to have your mom with you!

Dryer balls. Listen, I am with Tom on this. I TRIED. They do nothing. Well, except get stuck in sleeves and pant legs.

    Have a great day Amy!

  7. Tom cracks me up! I do miss the scent of dryer sheets if I don’t use them. If we were chatting over coffee this morning, I would definitely be talking about the last week of my life and I’d want you to talk more about your life right now with what you’ve recently walked through. This was a fun one, friend! Happy Tuesday!

  8. LOL! Non-coffee (or tea!) drinker over here. I don’t get the appeal of a hot beverage unless I’m sick with a sore throat. We also don’t use dryer sheets or lint balls or anything in our dryer.

  9. Lol about the dryer balls! I actually have never used them. I occasionally use dryer sheets: I don’t buy them, but my brother gave me some when he moved and they visited. I enjoy my morning coffee but only drink hot tea if I am sick and my throat hurts a lot. I enjoyed your Tuesday post and like you try to have a little something special everyday whether it is food, my coffee time, time to read…

  10. My husband and I have been married 30 years today!! We are going to a nice Italian restaurant tonight and planning a trip for the future – maybe Charleston. I’m laughing at Tom’s disdain for dryer balls 🤣 I quit buying dryer sheets years ago because I heard they were bad for the dryer. I used dryer balls for awhile and now I don’t use anything.

  11. What beautiful flowers and so kind of your friend.
You are so right to enjoy those luxury moments and not just save them.
Good choice with the tea bags! Those are my favourite! and that photos of you barefoot with the snow around you did make me chuckle.

  12. OK, I thought dryer balls were to keep things tumbling, and I use them especially with towels- but I ALSO use dryer sheets. The kind that help with pet hair. And yes, our dogs think the balls are theirs. Fritz sneaks down to the basement and steals them out of the laundry baskets! 😜

As for the flowers- OMG YES! I was horrified at how ours looked. They were hideous neon colored carnations and daisies! Not the level of elegance we paid for. I’m cracking up that Heather reordered! Madison florists need to step up their game. Ugh. 😩

  13. One of the things I love best about your blog is that you embrace joy and look for it every day! That surprise bouquet was beautiful and i also can’t seem to give up our dryer sheets! Happy Tuesday, Amy!

  14. A few years ago, I stopped using dryer sheets. We really don’t deal with a lot of static here, and I thought it was something I could do without. No one noticed, not even me! Isn’t it interesting how popular the cork placemats are over there? Many times the placemat is really small, just enough to put your plate on. If we met over coffee, I’d tell you all about my weekend in Auburn, just doing regular life with J. Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday.

  15. I love coffee, and I’d probably tell you a funny story about my husband. He doesn’t care about dryer sheets, but he cares deeply about anything I leave on the island in the kitchen. I’m very indecisive about mail I’ve opened, and he’ll ask me, « Do you need this paper? It’s been here for 3 weeks! » He exagérâtes the time it’s been on the island ,and he’ll ask at the worst possible time. It would almost be funny if it wasn’t so annoying, lol. I love to have something good to look forward to every day as well.

  16. If the towels are smelly, it might be that the soap isn’t getting completely rinsed out of them. Try an extra rinse, or add some white vinegar to the rinse cycle. You can also add a few drops of essential oil to the dryer balls to help with the scent. I love the dryer balls, but I also don’t have a dog trying to steal them from me!

  17. I made my own dryer balls and love them! My only complaint is when they jump out of the dryer! I tried adding some essential oils to them, but I was afraid the oil would get on the clothes so I didn’t add very much. My Jack just watches them now though he used to chase them when he could. Our snirt (snow + dirt) is gone because it got up to 60 today. I’m not holding my breath because I can remember spring breaks when it snowed. I know, as soon as I put the snow shovel away, it will snow again.
