It’s been another weird week around here! I am linking up with Andrea and Erika and if you keep reading, I will tell you why!

Monday we were off for President’s Day and Tuesday was a teacher day to start off my week. On Tuesday I did a rare thing and got my breakfast from Starbuck’s with my gifted gift cards. I got the best brown sugar latte; I felt ridiculous ordering something into the speaker that was so complicated. I guess this is why people use the app? Maybe I should do that, too!

The Macrobarista shared this on IG. You should follow him even if you don’t like coffee. He’s easy on the eyes if you know what I mean.

And, these are better than my Thin Mints in the freezer! Why are these not in my freezer? Pause while I run and do that!

Excuse the nails; taking a press on break.

My school alum association got us a taco bar on Tuesday! Want to hear why Erica and I believe we cast a spell? And are possibly witches?

Erica said – and I quote – “I wonder what the lunch is. I hope it’s a taco bar”.

And, I said – “Why do I have so many meetings in the afternoon and so little time in my classroom to do my actual work for my actual job?”

The taco bar happened and while in line for the taco bar everyone got a text saying we got to telecommute starting at noon due to the snow moving in. Why did I not get the text? I didn’t sign up. I don’t need more texts. I also didn’t write my cell phone number down when all the admin asked for it. No, thank you. Somehow some admin and counselors still have my PERSONAL cell phone number. Guess what – one of the counselors texted me while I was planning my mom’s funeral. Are you kidding me? Call me old, call me old school. I really don’t care. By the way, we get an email each day saying who is absent, the secretary sent a separate email saying that I had experienced a loss, and when the obituary came out, she sent another email with that information. So, the counselor had two emails that she should have read and not texted me.

So, we went home after the taco bar – well, I stayed about an hour to do some planning. Then, my two meetings turned into Zoom meetings. Wah wah.

Who is watching The Bachelor? Yes, it’s soooo boring.

So, I split The Bachelor into two parts because who has time for 2 hours of listening to girls talk to Grant on couches? The first part was MY SCENE!

I had a permagrin during the first minutes because it was filmed on September 30, 2024. I was there! In Madrid! I recognized the gorgeous, sunny 70 degree weather! All the girls were sitting on a patio drinking sangria! I drank sangria on a patio! Grant arrives in the outfit I saw him in!

This is the outfit:

I’m right there! Pan to me! Pan to me and my family and my dear Madeleine my former student who is living in Spain!

I am 10 feet away! I swear!

Anyway, they didn’t pan to me and that’s ok. After that, they walked the streets of Madrid and did a couple of other activities. I guess I will stop talking about it now.

For those of you following Tom’s Christmas card seedling journey, we have an update…

It appears that Tom can grow seedlings better than hair!

I was told never to say anything behind someone’s back that you wouldn’t say to their face. So, I told him that joke, too.

I pre-ordered this book and it arrived and I’m halfway through.

Before it arrived, I was struggling to read this. I like it, but…

The entire book including the front book jacket and the acknowledgements in the back has this!

It is so crazy. Two lines were totally crossed out. I am trying to Nancy Drew it and figure out the method to what they are underlining and why. It’s really distracting me.

I braved Costco on Monday; always so many people. Annoying. This is me escaping people – trust me they are there in droves.

Officially official this time. I am done with snow! We have a lot going on around here. We have flooding and a high river, too.

Someone loves a virtual instruction day…

We hold hands.

If you have a Cheddar’s, have you heard of their family bundle? All of this food was $40. I got the chicken tender/salmon bundle and got to choose broccoli and carrots and it came with 6 croissants. We have another meal out of it, too. I don’t think you can feed a family of four at a fast food place for $40 anymore.

Someone very sweet and generous gave us a gift card and I am still not very motivated to cook so it was wonderful to pick this up after virtual instruction day.

What were your favorites this week?

Amy

  1. Your Bachelor connection is so cool. Even better if they’d panned to you!! This has been such an odd week. Hopefully, next week can bring some normalcy. Yay to the taco bar and canceled meetings. Your Starbucks order sounds delish. I hope you have a great Friday.

  2. I am BESIDE myself that the counselor called you while you were on bereavement leave at your mother’s funeral. I hope you said something to her and if not, please give me her contact information. I promise I’ll handle it diplomatically. Ha!

We have a Cheddar’s near us but I haven’t been in ages – what an incredible deal for dinner!

That sweet picture of you and EO holding hands is the sweetest!!

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. No I didn’t. Our counselors leave a lot to be desired. I have been there 25 years and not a one of them said a thing to me about my loss. No card. No email.
      My school didn’t send flowers.
My department did but not the school.
Tom’s work did and my sister’s husband’s school did .

  3. Ok I am cracking up at your comment about Tom growing seedlings better than hair- ha! You are so fresh 😉 That is so cool that you were in Madrid at the same time as The Bachelor- he is a hottie for sure!

  4. Ok, that book is seriously MESSED UP. Who would do that? Maybe there is a code or some rhyme or reason to it. It would make me twitchy but if you can crack the code, that would be cool :). That is neat about the Cheddar’s meal. We have one sort of kind of close-ish (but so many restaurants way closer such that we rarely go to it); that deal has me thinking it may be worth the drive. We had snow this week again as well but warmer temps are a comin.’ Have a great weekend!

  5. The Bachelor isn’t on free-to-air TV here, so I’ll have to track it down like I do with all the shows I love, like Survivor and The Amazing Race. I was trying to figure out the scribbled book, and I just couldn’t! Why would someone do that? So weird! Sorry to hear about the counsellors-they sound really insensitive.

  6. I went to Costco the day before the Superbowl (in Missouri no less) so I don’t recommend that.

Now I’m really going to have to sit through The Bachelor! There’s always so much filler and I can’t watch with two little kids around you know? (And Scott definitely won’t watch with me in the evenings lol)

  7. Coffee drink orders are like speaking a whole ‘nother language! When my mother in law used to have us order her one I’d literally write it down word for word not wanting to get it wrong (and not really understanding any of the terms as a non-coffee drinker!). I wouldn’t give out my personal cell phone to my work either; that is a clear violation of boundaries right there. I a firm believer of leaving work at the door. I HATE that my husband gets calls at all hours of the day no matter where we were– he has literally answered a call on the top of a mountain that we were climbing in Acadia national park. I understood when he was owner but I keep trying to gently remind him that he’s not the boss anymore and someone should be able to handle/field the questions while he’s on vacation. I think this is one are we as a country really need to work on that other countries do so much better with.

    1. I knew I liked you! I could have written the part about boundaries. I also think the coffee thing is ridiculous but I did it. How about just good coffee like in Spain and then we don’t need all the doctoring up!

  8. That Cheddars family bundle looks awesome! That was a very thoughtful gift. I have seen the news showing the awful flooding in Kentucky. 😔 Praying for everyone affected by it. 🙏 Hope you have a great weekend!

  9. I always find ordering from Starbucks so complicated, there are just too many options.
Yay for the taco lunch and how cool to see on the TV what you saw in real life from The Bachelor!
Well done to Tom with the seedlings!

  10. Gosh, if only the camera had gone a wee bit farther!! Still cool you were there and realized at the time what was going on. I can’t believe a counselor would do that…people! So glad Tom’s seedlings are growing-how did he take the joke? Hang in there…spring has to spring sometime soon, right?

  11. Tony got fast food at A&W before his drive to the coast yesterday- it was $15 !! So ridiculous. I love that you and Eddie Otis hold hands/paws 🥰 have a great weekend. We are at our beach house all weekend and next week I’m
Going to Disneyland with my daughter and son in law! It’s supposed to be in the 70’s all weekend and 80’s at Disneyland! Crazy – not ready for heat though !!

  12. Laughed out loud at the seedlings status, we have an update. HA.

Honestly not sure how you’re getting through that book, who would do that??? Hate when people damage books, especially a library book. Hope the read is worth it.

Keep seeking out the joy. Have a great weekend.

  13. So cool with you in Madrid during that Bachelor shot! Fun!

I have a one week break next week! Bliss! It’s called “sports break”, but with grown up kids I will do no such thing! I will go to coffee shops instead! 😀 When the kids were younger we did a lot of activities like skating, downhill skiing and sledding (is that really the word?).

How could your school not say anything about your loss!? Beyond words!

My husband shaves off his hair (it suits him!) so we have a lot of “hair jokes” going on over here! Especially funny when he jokes about it in front of strangers, and they are not sure about how to react!

Have a lovely weekend! Go for the hair cut, it will look good on you!

  14. That’s so neat that you were there when they were filming The Bachelor! It really is too bad you didn’t make it on TV. And how weird about all of the underlining in that book. I enjoyed that book, but I don’t think I would have been able to get through it with all of those marks!
