my left shift key doesn’t work unless I really, really hit it hard. not sure I have the energy or the desire to use the shift key on the right. are we ok with that?

linking up with Sarah and Holly, by the way!

this picture from friday kinda foreshadowed the weekend to come. how honest should I be? let me think about that.

Erica brought us chicken breast and a steak knife to cut it for lunch. I wrote “Friday the 13th with a week left” on my photo…

I’m kind of scaring myself and the forehead wrinkles and lines are super scary…

If you peeped my nail, here is the leftover press on from exactly a year ago…

I was able to get another mani out of it and it makes me quite happy! You can usually get two manis out of one box. The boxes range from $6-$10.

It was hard to find a time to go a holiday happy hour with Elizabeth and Erica before everyone got busy with holiday stuff. We went to Osteria at 4:00 but had to leave by 5:15 – it was better than nothing! And, we shared their frites!

Changed into this for the next thing…

I kept the pink blazer off most of the night and wore my Merry & Bright sweater with my silver sequin skirt. The boots aren’t the best, but they were ok.

Eric and Heather picked us up and we went to NULU to a cajun place that has a speakeasy in the basement. The bartender was named Joe and put on a show. He rhymed the whole time.

Did you see what I did there?

We got espresso martinis and one for our other Heather. She and her husband Scott arrived a little bit after us.

Then, Tom gets a call that Mason has blown a tire on the highway. Eric wouldn’t take NO for an answer and drove Tom to Mason. Scott decided that he had a long day anyway and left Heather to have a girls’ night. So, what was supposed to be a holiday table for 6 with a visit to the holiday pop up bar in the next block after became a girls’ dinner for 3 with a distracted Amy.

The bread they brought us:

parmesan risotto:

Pizza and cajun fries:

We all shared and then Tom and Eric came back to pick us up even though we said we could Uber. We offered to order them to go food but they both declined.

Saturday morning and it was time for all the chores and all the errands. Tom gets Eddie Otis out of the house which is great but it means that I usually spend all my puppy free time working.

Also, we had tires to buy! So, I helped with the drop off and picking up of the car and stopped at the library nearby after.

Look at their fire themed shelf! “Stay warm, folks” picks:

I also had to take in the book EO ate and pay for it.

Tom wanted to do Costco with me so we went together. I ripped our list in half and we got two carts. There were so many people. Where do they come from? It was miserable.

One kid was home and I made bowtie alfredo with cajun seasoning for him and Tom had a leftover lunch from the week of chicken pot pie. I had the bagged salad we got at Costco.

And, popcorn…

I felt like I deserved it by the time I sat down. It was a day full of adulting!

Sunday morning it was raining and mild…

More chores, more organizing, and chocolate chip pancakes!

And, it’s all good. I have so much to be thankful for.

What about you?

Amy

  1. Sorry your dinner for 6 turned into a very last minute girls’ night but glad that your husband had help and was near enough to help Mason out! I am really hungry this morning and all the food photos look SO good!

  2. I’m glad your son wasn’t injured. Car issues are some of my least favorite. Sorry your plans were spoiled but it seems like you girls were able to make the best of it. Costco on a Saturday in December? A hard no lol. I can’t imagine the crowd. Have a great week…you’re on the homestretch to the break now!

    1. I was really scared! I was like – do not get out of the car on the highway – anyway, it all worked out. I was pretty distracted and worried.
Yeah, it was dumb, but he leaves for work at 7:30 and gets home at 6 and I leave for work at 8 and get home at 4 so there aren’t many options. We were getting heavy protein shake boxes and dog food so I do prefer him to help with those. Maybe the crowds kept me from buying too much because I couldn’t see other things to buy.
      5 more days!

  3. Your outfit is darling! I will forever be impressed with your nails.

That restaurant looks like such a cool place with good food.

Glad you got to rest after a weekend of adulting!

  4. A blown tire on the highway is so scary! It’s happened twice to me, ugh. The weekend was a blur for me – I’m sure this week will go by so fast! We have a 4 day work week and I am looking forward to getting some gifts wrapped.

    Have a great day Amy!

  5. I love that red, green and white throw! Where did you get it? Our weekend was similar and I’m taking my car in this morning with a red light on. Love this the week before Christmas! Have a great week!

  6. Adulting is highly overrated.

Once I finally get a new car, I might have to make its first road trip to Louisville so we can have some FUN adulting time. It’s overdue.

  7. I’m always thankful that my sons are okay when they have issues with their tires while they’re driving. I have heard of people swerving when that happens, and then wrecking their vehicle. Isn’t it wonderful to have great friends who offer to do things like that with you? I adulted all day long on Friday! I was ready to get out and have fun by the end of the day. 🤣 I hope your week gets off to a great start!

  8. Your pancakes look perfect. Somehow mine never look quite right! That is so scary about the blowout, and man, tires are expensive! Adulting is no fun and Costco on a Saturday is insane. I’m glad it all worked out in the end. Now on to the last week of school!

  9. Now, that is a good friend to go with your husband to take care of your son, the car, and the tires. I’m sure you were a nervous wreck until you heard all was well. I keep looking at those press on nails. Gotta just do it. I have only been to Costco once and was completely overwhelmed by it! Wow! Now, I’m hungry…your food pictures always make me want something!

    1. Right? he is the one that asked Tom to go on the mission to the airplane hanger to get a box – lol. So, they are good friends to each other. Costco is super overwhelming!
      Thank you!
ok – for the press ons. my friends said that cvs has a lot of holiday selection nails.
Brand is impress and you have to start with trimmed and clean nails and use their alcohol pad. Sit at a table and spend time picking the right size nail. Do the nails at night so you have several hours of no hands in water. Then the next day you can trim and file.

  10. Oh no! How frustrating with your shift key. The picture with the knife did make me chuckle, you do look scary.
It sounds like you had a great evening out, I love your sparkly skirt and the food looks so good!
