It’s time for another Fashion Files with Kellyann and Jill! It’s been really warm here – like 70s warm. What about where you are? I hate to wish it away because once the cold comes it will be here to stay!

I wanted to try a graphic tee and sweater combo – nothing earth-shattering, I realize…

I wore this for a happy hour after school last week. I am wearing my Matilda Jane jeans, Deff Leopard tee, and a very old burgundy/black cocoon type sweater. I don’t even remember where I got it.

On Saturday for brunch out I was ready to take my new-to-me consignment blazer out. It is by the boutique brand Skies Are Blue and I paired it with a summery tee and my Target black silk slip skirt, my Stan Smiths with the gold back, and my gold Lily Pulitzer purse.

Saturday late afternoon I decided to wear this dress. I got it off the Loft sale rack several years ago for either $5.99 or $9.99 and I think there was only one and it was an online return or something! I really love it! I decided to wear my Jack Rogers booties that I found a long time ago at TJ Maxx.

This was a contender, but I felt like it was too springy.

Monday for our teacher work day, I threw this on – nothing to write home about…

My Kendra Scott 50% off birthday purchase arrived! It’s the Quinn bracelet from the Yellow Rose collection and it’s actually three separate bracelets. I have always loved mixed metals and my wedding rings are platinum so I like this. My sister in law has the most gorgeous mixed metal wedding and engagement ring set.

So, I was maybe going to buy the Birkenstock Boston clog and I still might, but I ordered these to try on the recommendation of Wardrobe Oxygen’s blog post. You should read this if you are trying to figure out your cold weather shoe wardrobe! Her style is not my style, but I appreciate her research and writing on topics that some of us are interested in at this age.

I got mine for $89 and can return to my local Macy’s. I had never heard of SoftWalk, but it’s worth checking out. They have some really cute styles and they look to be comfortable, too.

I treated myself to this book and there is a section on fashion. This and the motivation to help hurricane victims had me doing a ruthless closet clean out on my day off on election day. Tom’s work is doing a clothing and blanket drive and I found three bags of stuff that are in great shape but were never closet 10s for me – didn’t fit right, I bought because on sale, etc.

I want to have an epic small life! Ha!

So, I am continuing to enjoy a smaller selection of fall clothes that feel like me.

I am shopping very little and making sure that anything I keep is perfect, not just okay.

What have you been wearing this week? As always, I would love to hear your brand recommendations, store recommendations, shoe recommendations – anything you have to share!

  1. I need that book, I want an Epic Small Life too! I’m jumping on Amazon to find it (the book not my small life which will be epic).

My friend Jona works with Skies are Blue often and loves their stuff! You got a great deal. Also that dress from Loft was a major score!

I am getting ready to go meet my friends to walk and it is 76 degrees at 4:22am. We are having record heat and I am not happy!

    1. Her books are really great. i mean – yes, it’s common sense, but I feel very inspired when I read her books. I did get a great score! I’m glad I got it. Happy walking!

  2. It was 80 yesterday! 80 in November in New England just feels crazy warm but since we’ve had some really cold frost filled days in between these warm ones I’m just grateful for them. I wore palazzo pants and a halter top and ended up turning the air conditioning on since it was still 76 in the house with the sun. Today it’s supposed to be in the mid to upper 70’s so I’m thinking I’ll wear a t-shirt with my summer weight hiking pants for our group hike.

  3. Wearing them and light weight tops this week. I am having fun going through different sections of my closet and wearing all the things. Next week should cool down a little and I can maybe continue to wear my denim and light layers. Well done on your closet clean out. I have done a little thrifting but that is about all. Might stop by again today before grocery shopping. Love Saturday and Sunday’s outfits!

  4. I love that Loft dress you got for a steal! Such a pretty fall dress that would be perfect for Thanksgiving. Your mixed metal bracelet is a great birthday choice. I’m eyeing a bow necklace they just came out with. I’ve been wearing fall tops with short sleeves and jeans or shorts!

  5. I love the Yellow Rose collection from Kendra Scott! I have 2 necklaces from it, one from my birthday discount and one that was on sale. I love the bracelet that you chose, I like to mix metals too. The boat ride and seeing the changing leaves sounds perfect!

  6. I have been loving my new Madewell barrel, jeans! I bought A nice denim blue and then I also purchased the black. I also bought a pair of loose fitting Levi jeans from Nordstrom rack that I love. And I bought a pair of the barrel jeans off of Amazon. I do like Amazon clothing but it’s really hit or miss for me!

    1. I’m afraid of barrel but they look good on some people I have seen! I have found the more expensive Amazon clothing purchases to be pretty good, but they super cheap is super cheap. There are certain brands that are really good.

  7. Aren’t dress down days nice when you’re in meetings and such all day? Love the dress from Loft! I never find bargains like that. I’ve lost some weight so I’m going through my jeans and switching out smaller sizes. I keep debating whether or not to keep the larger sizes. I’ve pretty much decided to donate them because they won’t be in style if I regain the weight (pray that doesn’t happen again as usual). I have no wonderful suggestions for shoe shopping. My Frankenfoot has me trying all different kinds. My go-to used to be Josef Seibel, but they’ve become a bit frumpy IMHO. I know many swear by Vionic, but I haven’t tried those yet. I’m just now transitioning to shoes from my slip on sneakers and sandals…and I don’t like it!

    1. Yes, but teachers have become so casual on all days. I don’t love that. I do try to look decent and add sneakers. Teachers must have the worst feet ever! What do these floors do to us?
Congrats on the weight loss – I say go ahead and donate.
