it’s Friday! I am linking up with Andrea and Erika for Friday Favorites. Do you have a candy hangover?

Do you feel like this…

Remember my 3 hay rides over the weekend? Achoo! I didn’t feel great. I didn’t sleep great. I was busier than I wanted to be, too.

I have decided I have a heckler in my last period class. I was being silly and talked about how I guess I’m allergic to hay and this girl told me I probably shouldn’t have taken so many hayrides and that she takes about 10 a week. Ok, “Ms. Hay Wagon” with your hay ride flex. Then another day a kid in her class said that he was going to record me singing and I jokingly told him I hadn’t signed a waiver. The heckler cites some public spectacle clause that you can be recorded without a waiver if you are creating a public spectacle. Does it count if it’s your job?

So, yeah, that’s fun.

But, alas, here are some favorites along with more thoughts from the week…

I am not a huge Starbucks fan at all. I want to give my money to the local guy when I buy coffee. I really don’t even think their coffee is that good. I have gotten to the point where my home coffee with my frothed cream is my favorite (if I can’t have the wonderful coffee from Spain!).

But, I love my Starbucks mug collection. This mug is the perfect size and heft. This France one is so special because my Dad found it in France and brought it back. My Prague one is also so special because Mason went to Prague and all I got was the mug – ha! Just kidding! I was so touched that he did that for me as a 17 year old high school kid on a school trip. I also have Munich and Kentucky. If one is not available for my morning coffee, I am sad girl.

So, I have an England one and a Spain one in my Amazon cart. They are between $50 and $60! These mugs are no longer made. I love them that much and I don’t really collect anything else. Am I basic because I love these mugs? Oh, and this is weird. I like my tea in a smaller mug but I like my coffee in these mugs. So, I think I am going to get them. I know I will love them. Yes, I have overthought this mug decision.

I have a press on tutorial coming, but if you can’t wait. I love Impress brand and buy them on their website or at Ulta or a drug or grocery store. The website has the best variety and really good promotions. I buy short length.

I can’t tell I have them on and I really think they have changed my nail life.

I take my breakfast to school and eat around 8:30 and this week I tried something different that turned out so yummy! I had diced and roasted sweet potatoes over the weekend as part of my meal prep and for breakfast I made a bowl with chicken sausage, egg, and a sprinkle of cheese.

Do you still “use” Pinterest? I do and I also just use Google images for outfit inspiration. I really think this keeps me feeling like I have a lot to wear. I am loving the long tan coat with sneaker look. I have a long tan sweater coat and a light tan trench. So, it’s not exact, but it is close enough to the look here;

Thank you for sharing your birthday traditions and plans with me earlier in the week!

Here is what I am thinking of getting at Kendra Scott. Isn’t she pretty?

I have had a sad state of arm candy in my life lately. I got rid of a lot of bracelets and miss having some I really, really like.

Tip:

It’s the time of year for holiday open houses and all kinds of holiday community events. I take photos and add to my calendar and if I can go, I try to go. I am going to make a post-Thanksgiving until end of year Bucket List and then a Bucket List for January. I was actually kinda shocked to see them starting so early.

How do you feel about “permanent” jewelry? I have been seeing it advertised everywhere! I just think it would bug me. Isn’t it just a really tight bracelet? Can’t you achieve the look without getting it soldered on your wrist? Am I missing something?

Mason is literally in love with Eddie Otis and it’s been so fun to see. Our first lab was 1.5 years old when we had the twins and died when they were 9. Our second lab we had from the time they were 10 until they were 21. There is something about this time or this dog that Mason has really been drawn to and EO loves him, too.

My oven told me it was Halloween yesterday! It changed scenes a few times that I noticed.

The weather has been so warm this week! Halloween morning was perfectly eerie and windy. I loved it!

But, it rained for a good part of the afternoon.

I did make mummy dogs;

And, our group text with my mom and sisters had the cutest thing in it! My youngest nephew dressed up like Grandpa for Halloween or Maverick, whichever you want to say!

Tell me something about your week! Having a blog is weird because I don’t want to be fake (like everything is perfect) and I don’t want to be too negative (or a Debbie Downer) and I ask myself am I telling too much? Also, when I see my friends that read my blog I want to start with, “I don’t want to repeat anything you read on the blog so have you been reading?” but that’s weird, and I also say, “you know there’s a lot I don’t say, right?’ I could probably make a whole post about the weirdness. I would fill it with all the good things that have come from it, too, though! Thank you for continuing to show up here and let me know if you have any suggestions for blog topics or blogs for me to read that I might not already be reading.

I guess I am feeling reflective as this week comes to a close,

Amy

  1. Yes! Get the mugs, they’ll be a perfect addition to your collection! Sorry to hear about the heckler; that is tough to deal with. I was about to mention that there are only a few weeks left until the end of the school year, but then I remembered that applies over here. We’re on the home stretch, and it’s been quite a year! I hope you get some good rest and relaxation this weekend, Amy. Sending warm hugs.

    1. I am waiting to see if I get birthday money or an Amazon gift card! But, I will get them. Yeah, we are barely into our year. That was how my year was last year. I’m sorry. It’s a tough business! Thank you so much!

  2. I can relate to the weirdness of the blog – add IG stories to that and it’s doubly weird.

Your nephew looks so cute, I bet your dad would have loved that!!

I don’t understand permanent jewelry either and don’t think I’ll be jumping on that bandwagon any time soon!

Hope you have a great weekend!

  3. I don’t think I could handle permanent jewelry; I even take my wedding ring off for sleeping since it starts to bug me in the middle of the night if I don’t. I also can’t sleep with my fitness watch on even though I’d love for it to track my sleep since I feel like I’m not really getting a good nights sleep most nights.. but it dries me nuts.

    Your egg bowl looks yummy!

  4. Oh dear, sorry but the tales about your heckler did make me chuckle.
I didn’t even know the Starbucks mugs were a thing. You have to get the one’s in your cart, especially as they’re not made anymore.
I love the tan coat look. I’d love a trench coat but they always seem so long on me.
I don’t understand permanent jewellery either. I think it’s just a gimmick for companies to make a bit of extra money.

  5. Totally get it and same here as far as not saying everything on the blog- trying to make it a positive space but so much more to say behind the scenes- anyway, praying for strength for you to deal with the heckler- what a PIA

  6. You could check eBay, Mercari or Poshmark for the Starbucks mugs. I’m all about a good secondhand find! I just got a cute bar cart yesterday for $30 on FB marketplace. I can’t wait to decorate it for Christmas! The idea of permanent jewelry scares me and I just think it’s weird. What if you got a bracelet caught on something and you needed to quickly get it off?! 😳

  7. I was just coming here to suggest eBay for the mugs too, they often have new items in addition to used options. And your authenticity is one of the things I appreciate most about you. Teaching has to be one of the most difficult jobs in the world, so please don’t feel the need to sugar coat your experience.

Enjoy your weekend! We got snow in CO for the first time this week, so pretty this time of year. January is a different story, ha.

  8. I have a friend who collects Starbucks mugs & they are so cute. I love a bowl with roasted sweet potatoes. Thanks for your perfect blend of transparency on the blog!

  9. I have a collection of Starbucks mugs, and I think they were the style they put out right before the colorful ones you have. On weekdays, I just like a small amount of coffee, so I save the Starbucks mug for weekends when I have foamy milk and really savor it. Have you check ebay for the mugs? (I see others have mentioned this in the comments.) I wouldn’t like perm. jewelry. Like Joanne, I take off my rings and watch at night. I hope you have a very happy birthday weekend!

    1. yes – I know what you are talking about. The colorful ones are my fave, but i also like your style mug. That makes sense and that is a nice weekend thing. Are you sensitive to the caffeine? i am worried about fake mugs. lol. I do, too. I didn’t use to do that, but now i sleep without any jewelry and wearing a fitbit to sleep in sounds horrible to me.

  10. Buy the mugs! You will think about your trips every time you use them. I don’t get the permanent jewelry thing, either. My daughter and granddaughter both have it. It seems very fragile. Besides that, I like to change things up all the time. I got my necklace from Kendra Scott and love it (part of the Yellow Rose collection). I love reading your blog because I can relate to so much of it. I find it hard to come up with something to say all the time other than, “Here’s what I’m wearing. Don’t you love it?” I blog for fun not money, too, so my blog isn’t monetized. I do get some free stuff every once in a while which is cool. Very few of my friends read my blog…a lot don’t even know about it. I never had a heckler, but I always had the special needs kids in my room because I was formerly the spec ed teacher in the building. But, the kids coming through my room as I retired were nothing like the ones I had when I was in spec ed. Someone said these were the crack babies coming through. I’m guessing your heckler is doing this because she thinks she’s cute and getting one up on you.

    1. You’re so right! I went to Kendra yesterday and ordered bracelets from the Yellow Rose for my bday gift. I didn’t even know that was a thing.
Your words are too kind. I wish I could get paid a bit, but I really have seen so many blogs go down that road and it’s exhausting and it’s not what I stand for. Buy this crap. No, now buy this.
My heckler was told by her parents that she is smart and they thought everything she said was amazing. She is in my 7th period and my patience for it has worn thin by the end of the day, too, I’m sure.

  11. That is so sweet about Mason and EO. We’ve told Wells that about Mav..he will be his bestest friend some day. Wells and Sutton have a low tolerance for puppy antics, it turns out lol. Mostly he’s my dog so far.

I hope you have a wonderful birthday weekend!

(turns out I’m a debbie downer and I’m okay with it 🙂

  12. Not a good idea to buy anything at all at Starbucks, whether it be coffee or merchandise. They support slave labor in third world countries, and child labor to pick coffee beans for their overpriced beverages. They have also been supporting the Israeli genocide in Gaza.

  13. If you love those mugs and they make you happy I say buy them! They’re cute too, it’s not like you’re collecting their logo ones 😉 As for your heckler – wow, hayrides every week! That must mean she’s not getting enough homework, lol. You’re my favorite blog so I love all your posts but I always love a favorite makeup/product review. Danielle from Danielle’s Sweets does that and I’m always obsessed (but maybe I’m weird like that)

  14. You are so right about the Starbucks mugs – I love them for coffee, just the right size and feel good in my hand. I buy mine when I am on vacation and they always remind me of good times we have had!
