I am lucky this year that mine falls on a Saturday!

You know how I feel – if you can take off work on your birthday you absolutely should!

I sometimes overthink what I should want to do/do want to do, so I thought I would ask you!

Are you a birthday diva?

Do you sleep in?

Do you ask for a special breakfast?

I love getting sort of dressed up and doing dinner but sometimes don’t put much thought into the rest of the day.

Do you ask for a cake or order your own? Do you prefer to order a restaurant dessert?

Some thoughts I have this year – go to Kendra Scott in the mall, ask for and pick out some Birkenstock clogs, get a pedicure, get a massage, not to touch a single dish or piece of laundry – ha!

Tell me what you would do!

Amy

  1. My birthday was 10/20. I always look forward to the birthday rewards from retailers. It is usually when I buy my clothing. I prefer pie, not a big cake eater. I made my own this year – coconut. My husband went for a walk with me and we went out to eat. The kids made me a card.

  2. In the past I didn’t think to much about celebrating my birthday but I’m starting to realize it’s important. I agree with taking the day off! This year my birthday was kind of a bummer since my husband was having surgery the next day but next year I am going to make sure I have some fun plans – maybe an entire spa day? Maybe I’ll have a party? Maybe I’ll take a trip? Who knows!!

  3. I’m not a birthday diva but it’s the one day of the year I don’t mind to have all the attention 😂I’ve never taken my bday off but usually MLK holiday is around it so I get a three day weekend. I like a card and a cookie cake and a nice dinner 🙂

  4. I love how you do your birthday! I don’t mind doing all the normal daily things that need to get done, but I always like a dinner out, dessert, and cards. I love seeing my Mom on my birthday and spending the evening with my sons.

  5. I am somewhere in the mix! I do have a spreadsheet ususally of all the birthday offers, because I sign up for so many. I do leave a lot on the table, because it is just a lot to use all the food/dessert options. I like to hit all the birthday places on my birthday, or close to it, like Sephora and Ulta. So fun you have a Saturday birthday this year!! I have always said as long as I don’t cook, I don’t care where the meal comes from. I remember one year I wasn’t feeling great and my family just brought me back some tomato soup to go and it was perfect. This will be the first year I wake up alone, so I’m sure it will feel different, but I do have a party planned for that night!

    1. A spreadsheet! Wow! I used to get a bunch of them but realized most were food and drink and then I felt it was also too much work to keep up with it. The Ulta Sephora ones are good, though!
I hope you can have something in the morning to look forward to, also. Maybe a bath and a movie? Door Dash a nice breakfast? I am so glad you have a par-tay! yay!

  6. I can’t say I typically have any special plans for my birthday; a couple of years I did plan an overnight stay at the beach around my birthday but the actual day is usually pretty quiet.

    1. I think it can depend on the year and what you need that year. A trip sounds amazing. I wish I could do that – maybe someday but now it’s kind of hard with the time of year at work.

  7. My birthday is next month and I have some plans already. I will probably have a lie in, get dressed up, go for a family meal, drinks out with friends and of course some cake. It sounds like you have some great plans.

  8. I would love to do everything you are doing except the massage. I’m not a massage fan but maybe I have never had a really good one. I love Birkenstock clogs but have you seen the Rothy’s ones? I think I may love them more! They are called The Casual Clog and retail for $159.

    1. I kinda get that. I am planning to go to a chair massage place iin the mall. My back is killing me so there is the extra motivation. I have seen them! They are so cute! I wish I could get both but I am leaning toward the classic Birks for now.

  9. I am all about my birthday and make sure it’s celebrated lol. Everyone who knows me will confirm this, especially my family. One time I was taking some sort of online quiz and one of the questions was ‘What’s something you say a lot’? I asked hubs how I should answer and he said, ‘It’s almost my birthday’. Truth!I don’t need a party but I want to feel like my family thought about it ahead of time. They come through! I don’t care if it’s dinner out or at home I just don’t want to plan-shop-cook-or clean it up. Mine is the third of three in our family in September so everyone has to gear up for more celebrating. Happy birthday!

    1. Same! That’s funny! We need to be celebrated! I feel like you are like me and we also hype others’ bdays! I am planning to work overtime the day before if need be to not touch a dish or a piece of laundry.

  10. I’m not big on my birthday, but last year I went to the city alone (nyc), went shopping at the independent bookstore I lived above for years, then went to my favorite French cafe, Buvette, and sat at the counter with my favorite breakfast and a latte and read one of the books I bought, then went for a mani/pedi and went home to go to dinner with the family. It was heaven! Going to make it tradition 😉

  11. My birthday is Valentine’s Day and, as a Kindergarten teacher that was a blessing and a curse. It was a busy day at school and I was usually wiped when all the festivities wrapped up so we’d celebrate on one of the bookend weekends. My husband though had no excuse for forgetting and, thankfully, he never did! Sounds like you’ve got fun plans for your special day! Yay!

  12. I almost always set myself up for a huge disappointment for my birthday…thinking someone will do something big. There have been a couple of times when the whole family has met at a restaurant, but we do that at other times so it doesn’t really feel special. I just need to find some friends and throw myself my own party. I did ask my son if his friend who bakes could bake me a cake…it was too late as he had two big events that weekend. I’m saving the photo for next year. I did get my half price Kendra Scott thing online because the store was so drastically understocked…which seems to be the theme of all the stores around here.
