How was your weekend? Mine had a theme which you will find out in a minute. Can you believe it’s the last week of August? I really think August is my least favorite month – it’s hard, it’s stressful, and usually the weather is my least favorite.
I am dreading this week, to be honest. I have a 5 day week plus a long day with our Meet the Teacher night on Tuesday. On top of that, we are already doing state testing so classes will be all out of whack. Yup, let’s test the kids constantly! When I have a week like this I try to take it one day at a time.
So, our weather last week was amazing! We had a taste of…

fall! Sweatshirts and even pants a couple of days in the morning were required. I spent more time outside and I guess I sort of forgot that I get sick every September with allergy symptoms. So, I woke up Friday morning not feeling great and that theme continues.
Eye patches really feel good on your sinuses, by the way. Maybe the good thing is that I will come out looking so much younger for the eye patch treatment?

Friday night I wanted soup and we ordered Panera for Tom and I cause the kids were off working or playing. Meh. We really aren’t fans. I got French onion soup and a half of a grain/greens thing.

I didn’t sleep well Thursday night and again didn’t sleep well Friday night.
I woke up Saturday and felt better, but just really tired. I picked up this from the library. I like being able to simply check things out that I don’t want to buy. I did a Target return and a Trader Joe’s run.

A couple of Target books that looked good so I can request them…

I felt up to keeping my plan to meet my friend Elizabeth for breakfast. We had a nice time catching up and I need to do this more!

The rest of the day I napped and watched Hotel Portofino in the basement and then read outside. It was just what I needed.

Tom took me to Harry’s for dinner where he got his favorite salmon spinach salad and I got…

salmon and potato croquettes. I hadn’t eaten anything else all day so I was hungry.

I went to bed after a shower and slept really well and late. I didn’t get up until 7 on Sunday!

Sorry for my Debbie Downer Hello Monday post!
I hope you had a good one!
Amy
Aw, hope you’re feeling better soon! It sounds like you got a lot of much needed rest.

I’m glad you are feeling better! I wasn’t 100% Friday or Saturday. I’m feeling better now, but I’m assuming it’s just me run down &/or extra back to school germs. I hope you have a great week.

Thank you! Ugh – I do think it’s also the kid germs! And, maybe the old building with a questionable ventilation system? You too!

I agree with you about August and can’t believe state testing is already underway! Glad you got some time to relax and read. I haven’t been sleeping well either, waking up 2-3 times a night. I hope you feel better and just like you said, take it one day at a time!

Right? Thank you! Have you taken Ashwagandha gummies? I started taking magnesium citrate instead but might go back to my good old Ash.

We enjoyed the cold weather when we flew into NJ on Wednesday, I could not believe it! Felt like FL winter and was such a sweet reprieve.
I am glad you got to sleep in on Sunday, hope you get through this long week quickly!

It’s interesting how we all have times of year that we get sick. Mine is now every spring and summer; I was sick with whatever Jonah had back in July and it took forever to get over! I am glad you were able to rest and also enjoy a little time out doing fun things. I hope your day goes well, my friend…I like that motto: One day at a time. It’s one of my life mottos right now as well.

I think August is my least favorite also. I blogged about it a couple weeks ago, just how bifurcated the month is with endings of camp, starts of school, and a lot of excess expenses, along with heat and allergies. Fair to say, we’ve had some cooler mornings, which give me hope for a nice Fall!

I struggle with seasonal allergies and now take meds pretty much year round. The weather is unpredictable so this seems to help. For me April is the worst because pollen is a whole thing here in the spring. Also, the start of a new school year wears a person out so take it easy. I love breakfast out and need to meet a friend so might suggest that for one day this week. Hope the week goes well for you! I can’t believe there’s testing already!!

I’m not a fan of August either except for my son’s birthday. It’s one of our hottest months. I’m jealous of your cool weather! Do you have or use a neti pot? I love mine when I have bad allergies and feel like I might get a sinus infection. My sister in law found out she has Covid. 😕 I need to order some more covid/flu tests to have on hand.

Poor Amy! Work start and allergy on top of that! I found magnesium really helps me with my sleeping! I eat all the vitamins I can now to beat the kid germs!
Is it ok if I love August…? It’s mostly the best month weather wise, and our kids don’t start school until like the 20th.
Blah for late days/nights at school! But soon it’s over!

Sorry to hear you’ve been feeling unwell. Getting back to work, the changing seasons, and all the other demands can really add up. I’m not a big fan of August either—it’s usually freezing cold, and by then, I’ve had enough of winter. But strangely, it’s been so warm the last few days… Shhh, I don’t want to jinx it! I hope you have a better week.
