Well, I knew this Friday – the first Friday of a five day week of school – would mean more! Ahhhhhh……I still don’t get paid until August 30th, but we are getting closer. I received five paychecks on June 18th and August 30th will be my first paycheck of this year. It’s a good thing I have a Sugar Daddy – I mean Tom. I also have half of that money saved. I had as frugal of a summer as I could.

It’s time to link up with Andrea and Erika for Friday Favorites.

Here are some things I want to share from my week…

New favorite book of the summer! I picked it up on a whim from the library shelf and yes, I did judge a book by its cover and I’m happy to say so! Cute cover, right? It reminded me a bit of the book Float Plan by Trish Doller which was a summer fave a few years ago. I will admit that I like a romance but with depth. The depth of this book surprised me and I have already recommended it to a couple of friends.

And, in the irony that is life…all of my anticipated summer reads came in the day school started! Ha! But, that’s ok. I will not give up everything I enjoy just because I am a full time employee again. There! I said it! And, it’s still technically summer until Labor Day and then we still have summer weather for quite a bit around here.

Have you read this? This was my next up book and so far I’m enjoying it.

Have you done anything for your future self this week? I made 6 Amy McMuffins and 8 breakfast burritos before school started and Present Amy really loves what Past Amy did. Lol!

Tell me that doesn’t look good! I eat it around 8:30 in my classroom. I don’t have any students until 9:30. Read about my schedule here and read about the Future Self theory here.

Hot pink nails are still going strong. I placed a big Impress press on nails order with a great 35% off discount code they sent me. I like petite or short length nails (still have to cut and file a bit) and this time I am trying the more oval shape that is popular.

We had spaghetti one night for dinner and then salmon, broccoli, and potatoes one night. Sheet pans are really easy, y’all. I love my two half sheets and my one quarter sheet and could really use more. All of this was done on the oven’s air fryer setting. Jack cut up all the taters and broccoli and helped me make this. I get home around 3:45 and start cooking at pretty much 5:00 on the dot.

I also made some chicken sausage, okra, and more taters on a sheet pan this week.

I ordered Tom a fun gift from Universal Yums. I picked Greece and it is a box of snacks and desserts from that country. Everyone has enjoyed tasting the items.

Stopped to take a selfie while walking to work… We’ve had some beautiful mornings.

Big boy watching mama blog…

I don’t set an alarm anymore! I have a puppy! So, I get up whenever puppy stirs and depending on where he has slept. Yesterday it was 5:00 and I do really enjoy watching the sun come up. It also feels nice to have more time at home before work. It’s all good. I cleaned out my candle collection this summer and saved this wonderful early fall scent.

A little more sun and my messy table with puppy stuff on it…

Well, tell me if you think this is bad or good…

I have not gone anywhere this week except to work and home and I’ve walked all but Tuesday. Is this good or boring? I think I will need to get out one day a week after work but for this first week, I think it was ok.

Tell me a favorite of yours this week?

Cheers to the weekend,

Amy

  1. I think it is definitely GOOD- you do you and follow the JOY- I have found pure joy in the simplicity of this summer 🙂

  2. So far the newest Giffin book isn’t available through my library but I’ll have to see if they have the Jenny James one. I’m reading Cheat Sheet right now and just finished The Rom Commers and A Happier Life– both were really cute!

  3. Universal Yums is such a great gift idea! I need to look into that.

I think you were smart to come home this week and take it easy, you’ll be back to your outings once you ease back into working all week.

Also? Don’t cut your hair – it looks sooooooo good!

    1. It really is!
Thank you! I hope to go out once a week for a meet up or just an errand run by myself. I think that will feel nice.
I don’t know – it’s so tangly and maybe it’s the heat talking. I feel like it’s starting to be too long.

  4. It’s great that you’ve been walking to work! I think not going anywhere this week is normal for the first full week that you’ve been back at work. I noticed that at church on Wednesday night this week, a lot of people weren’t there, and I’m assuming it was for the same reason. A favorite from my week was family dinner night and seeing my family that was here from out of town. It was such a good week!

For my future self, I am just working daily on forgiveness, and I’ve been asking God to help me to want to forgive him; I know I will someday, but I’m not there yet. I’ve been feeling more gracious toward that person, so I know I’m taking steps in the right direction. I hope you have a great day and weekend, my friend!

    1. I think you’re right. It was all I could do to go to work and back and the fact that I walked most days made it feel like I was out in the world a bit more? Maybe? I don’t know!
I think I am going to plan to do something one day a week, though.
I can see you doing the work through your words. It will happen someday for you more than for him. It’s hard to believe it’s only been 2 months and yet I know it also feels like much longer.

  5. walking to work is awesome. I purchased a pair of the Sketchers Cleo in black thanks to your recommendation. How do you bake your Salomon?

    1. It’s been nice. I hope you like them. They are not 8 hours on your feet shoes, but I think they can be a comfortable flat option. I did the airfryer oven feature at 400 with lemon juice, spices, and butter this time. I had a really large piece so maybe 20 minutes? I did a low broil at the end to get a bit of a crust.

  6. The Universal Yums thing is intriguing. I’ll have to look into that.

I think having a relaxing week at home once in awhile is nice. I’m in the busy season, and spend my afternoon and evenings running kids to different activities.

I love that you wake up and get some relaxation in before your busy day starts.

    1. We love going to World Market and seeing their international products! So, I thought this would be fun. I only did one box, but might do another. It’s a good value I think.
I think I am going to try to plan one outing a week right now.

  7. Thanks for the book tip. I like a book that is seemingly light, but somehow manages not to be. Your Amy muffins look yummy! Have a great weekend!

  8. It’s the first week of school for me, so you KNOW all my holds came in at once! I have TWELVE books to pick up tomorrow. I could get through them, but I have to put down the iPad. (I’m currently in that first-week-of-school-OMG-I’m-so-tired mode.)

  9. Your food looks delcious, easy and healthy! I washed sheets yesterday morning and for my future self, I put them back on later in the day instead of right below I crawled into bed. Does that count, ha? I am a few chapters into the book, but at my pace, it may take me a while. Enjoy your weekend!

  10. I think it is ok that you didn’t go anywhere this week besides work. The beginning of school requires a bit more rest and easing in. I love your nails! You are so good at the Impress nails. Your book looks cute. I’ll add it to my list, too. Sheet pan dinners really are the way to go. I hope you can get some boat time this weekend.

  11. That’s great that you can walk to work. I do the same, and it’s like getting exercise without even trying, which is the best kind since I’m not much of an exerciser! Hahaha, lucky you with the sugar daddy.
