Happy Friday! This week was easing into full time mode for me. I had to work 3/5 days and I was trashed at the end of each day! Ha!

I’m kicking myself for waiting so long to make this simple and cheap change. I ordered this kitchen trash can with lid from Walmart + for like $12. We fill our recycling quicker than our trash it seems and we had been using a small trashcan without a lid. Well, Mr. Eddie Otis believes in recycling, too. Each item gets turned into a dog toy before hitting the big recycling can outside. We were having to put the small recycling vessel on top of the trashcan and keep it out of his reach.

What little change can you make today to make an annoyance go away?

I’m really loving this book – warning the intimate scenes are racy – but I like reading about college ice hockey and it’s been really keeping my attention. I noticed her books at Target so I requested one from my library to check it out – no pun intended.

I’m very excited about acorn spice! I don’t like apple cider. No thank you to mum. I like fall leaves, too, I think!

Monday and Tuesday were my 12 hours of PD. I can’t believe how wrecked I was after working two full days. Uh oh.

Eddie Otis is so good for me in the car. It works best to put him in the back of my SUV but I do have a middle seat down if he needs mama. He went to pick up bagels with me, he went to meet someone for a Facebook Marketplace sale with me, and he went to get weighed at the vet. He is a good boy. Oh, also he always rides home with me from the boat. Tom takes him and he lets him swim and get his energy out in the boat ramp and then he rides home with me.

Forgive this next photo cause it’s messy, but I was at the mall and hadn’t tried Chicken Salad Chick yet. And, let’s be honest. I don’t get that excited about chicken salad. It’s like me making a special trip to Buc-cee’s. Nope. It’s a gas station. Sorry.

I loved it! I got Olivia’s Old South and broccoli salad. I loved both. I took it to go and my box got jostled around! I always plate my to go food anyway on a real plate.

This notice I saw on Facebook was kinda depressing:

Even though it was a busy week, I was able to go out once with Mason after he had something he suggested it. We went to Red Hog, not to be confused by Red Lobster, which is one of my faves. It’s a butcher shop and restaurant with really high quality food and cocktails.

The patio with communal table is so pretty!

Mason got a cider and I got a Radler which is a mix of beer and grapefruit juice and is so refreshing. I first tried this in Germany.

Their fries with curry mayo are so good.

We also got a charcuterie board.

We had a nice time.

Big boy took the chair that Ernie always sat in for the first time. He is constantly making us laugh.

That is my clarinet from 5th grade in the background – can you see it? I don’t understand this man (Tom). Tom thinks he can play it and it drives me and EO crazy. My parents gave it back to me years ago and Tom was so excited to have another instrument in the house. My niece Mia borrowed it and then recently gave it back. I get cold chills thinking about how much I hated playing it and Tom is really bad. Mia plays the sax and is really good, though! I played it from 5th-9th grade and I was really bad.

So, those were some favorites and I guess a couple not-so-favorites!

What is a favorite from your week?

If you missed any posts this week, I did have a few!

  1. I love the fall scents but rarely use any sort of scented soap since it aggravates all the boys’ eczema. And yay for cheap, easy changes that make a huge difference!

  2. I think that is so funny that Tom plays your clarinet! Collin used to play the sax and I loved it. He was so good and it was so nice to have him play for us, he hasn’t played in ages though! I don’t think I would be any good at playing an instrument like that.

The beginning of the school year is exhausting as you get back into the swing of the daily grind. I hope you have a great weekend!

  3. I too played clarinet, from 5th grade through 9th. I wasn’t very good at all but it was fun! Eddie Otis is getting so big and is so cute! Have a great school year. Can’t believe it’s that time again–

  5. So many good things from the week, in spite of having to ease back into work. I feel for you and may be there myself before long as I look for more work hours soon. When did EO get so big??? I feel like that happens overnight. I love that you and Mason found time together at a cool place. The food from your week looks amazing! I hope you enjoy your weekend, my friend, and regroup before Monday rolls back around. xoxo

    1. Thank you! I think I’m having an ok attitude? If you become full or fuller time you will do fine.
He is so big and starting to act so much more like a big dog.
      It was nice!
I’m going to try not to do anything school related til Monday.
You know what was nice – Walmart plus delivered some things I would normally run around trying to get.

  7. I don’t know that I would consider 2 12 hour PD sessions easing into it! That’s a long time so I’m not surprised you were exhausted. We have two huge bins in the garage…one for trash, one for recycling so I just take it out as soon as I can rather than having a separate can in the house. There’s a Chicken Salad Chick in Avon that’s been “finished,” for a long time, but it hasn’t opened. I’m not sure what the problem is. The Red Hog restaurant looks interesting. Is it open like that for the whole year?

    1. It was 12 hours today – so 6 per day. I did get to go home early on day 2 because we ate and then played Top Golf. They had allotted like 4 hours for that. I’m not a golf pro!
      That’s smart!
I really liked their chicken salad.
It’s so cool – yes all year!

  8. The first week back is always so exhausting! I’ve always wanted to try Mrs Meyers products, but we can’t get them here. Eddie Otis is getting so big! Have a great weekend, and all the best for the next week back at school.

It’s crazy when you do those small changes and life gets so much easier! Like moving things around in the kitchen to have the most used things within reach and such! Life changing! And kind of silly that you haven’t done it before…!

Clarinet!? Time to use that tik tok account again!?

So smart of you to do those tp-days and have it done! I also have to scrape those hours together, and it’s always a bummer.

Eddie sweetie! On Wednesday my friend’s havanaise will spend a week with us and I really look forward to it!

    1. Yes! Your time in FL seemed to fly!
I agree – so silly that we waited.
      No – I’m so bad!
Yes, it hurts now, but it will be good later.
Oh how fun and how lucky they are to have great dog sitter!

      1. Yes, FL flew through like a storm wind! Five weeks – how did that happen? Now we are spending the rest of the break at the cabin and it’s so slow so it’s like running into a brick wall! But in a good way :).

I so look forward to having that dog with us! He’s so sweet and happy! We’re actually convinced the owner to pick him up one day earlier!

  10. Little changes mean a lot around the house! I like chicken salad chick, but I also like bucees! My favorite is their breakfast brisket taco. Glad you made it through the work week as you ease into your schedule. Enjoy your Saturday!
